[Dr. Kerenski / Klint / Keps ]
I crawled along the vein, killing and absorbing everything in my way until [Identify] revealed to me a vein called the [Cerebral Vein].
I swiftly moved my tether from one Lymphagon to the other, focusing their attention and attack upon one spot of the vein. I rotated myself as [Sectus] from my Lymphagons fired upon the same spot. I devoured the released energy, growing stronger.
Slowly and persistently in this manner, I began to bore into the whale's brain. The monster wailed in ultrasound as I entered, clawed myself into its mind.
"Guess who has brain-spiders? You do," I commented drily as my Lymphagons began to fire upon the ghostly neuron cells of the whale's mind.
Brilliant, delicious power blossomed around me in glowing, silver clouds.
I feasted upon it with my exposed threads, growing bigger, brighter. The emerald color of my threads faded away, became replaced with pure, fiery, brilliant silver.
The soul-energy pouring from the brain cells was more defined, more focused, filled with the whale's memories and will.
Hunger. Desire. Power. Possibility. Growth. Escalation. Consumption.
I feasted more and more, gorging myself upon the whale's defenseless mind.
Pathetic.
My tendrils grew, stretched, blossomed into a new network of control that replaced the whale's brain. In time... I became the mind of this creature, the thing which was driving all of it towards dominion.
One by one I started to feel its organs.
Mine.
Its blood.
Mine.
Its life.
MINE.
I sang the song of unity, of joining. I resonated, amplified the song across my entire new shell.
My spherical shield grew, blossomed in size and power, absorbed, integrated itself into an impervious, hardened, hollow shell.
One thought, one desire drove me forward:
All of the creatures of the Astral, all of the Phantoms will be mine.

I hummed the song of binding, adding the song of cutting souls to all of my new parts, focusing the song like a focused beam into a single, unstoppable weapon fueled by the very life of my ghostly shell.
I saw a star-shaped Hunter flying towards me.
Pathetic.
My focused, all-cutting-song-ray fired, slicing across the star-shaped Hunter.
It screeched, spun out of control, crashed into the ground filled with dead imprints.
Mine.
I slowly floated towards the bleeding phantom sucking in its life with my maw, firing the carving beam upon it again and again. It attempted to escape me, attempted to strike back, but I was bigger, more focused, more determined.
In time, it had given in to pain, given up.
MINE.
I carved a piece of myself out, and bound the hunter thrashing beneath me to myself with the force of my soul and will, my song dominating, enslaving its weak, unfocused mind.
MINE.
I momentarily paused, tried to recall who I was... and discovered that it didn't matter.
Consuming and growing was more important. I had to survive this hostile world, had to dominate to exist.
"Go forth my child," I sang to my new daughter. "Bring me lesser creatures so that I may feast upon their life, bind them to our family, grow ever stronger and multiply."

A Fresh Take On Some Of The Most Well-Loved LitRPG Staples - And A Whole New Original World To Explore! Alex is a twenty-something college dropout who's not going anywhere too fast - but not for lack of smarts. Things, however, are never that simple - are they? A love letter to the genre as a whole, Transient breathes new life into some old - and, arguably, tired - tropes and staples, and takes them for a wild ride into a fresh, original story. Combine that with a vibrant fantasy setting, a lively cast of characters, and grammar that actually won't make your eyes bleed*, and you got yourself a webnovel that's definitely worth checking out! *The author does not bear any responsibility with respect to breakdowns or damages, including but not limited to those resulting from bad puns, 4th wall breaks, surprisingly dark twists, and the occasional typo. Immutable
The world went to hell in a handbasket. Overnight, something called the Allworld downloaded itself into the universe and everything but the kitchen sink appeared to end the planet. Governments fell and chaos reigned. People were left to fend for themselves. Of course, that's not, like, a bad thing. Pollution is at an all time low which means no more global warming. And all that corrupt bureaucracy is gone now too. Which means all those evil people refusing to do something about our dying planet are gone. Plus, people got superpowers. Which is, you know, pretty sweet. Of course, they can't be normal superpowers, everything but the kitchen sink was thrown in after all. Caleb is immutable, unable to physically change in a world completely changed; Alex was granted a system that talks to her in cat puns, but also gives her power over all cats; Nathan met a god of impulse, who gave him powers because he felt like it; and June is given a power to make things lazy, something opposite to her personality. The four of them meet by chance while hunting monsters. They met by chance but must learn to work together when an empire from space lands on Earth with the intent to subjugate the surviving humans.
