Giving up was wrong. The memories of burning alive clawed at me from within, not letting me think straight.
These shells, whatever they were... they were just old memories, imprints. Maybe if I consumed more of them... I could drive away this pain and misery?
I flung myself towards the nearest man and consumed the energy within him.
Alekarus Momav Tricameron. Died when the world caught fire.
The memory of death and loss hurt, but not as much as those of the tree. It was working! I was feeling stronger! My tentacles bloomed with green shimmers.
Next!

Klint Klondike Tricameron. Died from a spell to the head? Saw a very pretty girl ...I think? Whatever. Next!
Violetta Milliam Skyisle. Died from... being cut in half? Sucks to be you. NEXT!
More! MORE!
One by one, I feasted upon the old memories, sucking the remnants of their essence out of their dead shells with my threads, growing bigger, stronger, brighter.
Some kind of words transposed themselves into my vision.
Welcome to Novazem Astral, phantom aberration.
Assigned Affinity: Soul Hunter
I realized that I could not read the message. It didn't matter. The hunger, the urge to consume more memories drove me onwards. I feasted, gorged myself and it felt great, incredible, fantastic.
I licked up the remnants of humanity. There were other things in the walls, other memories. Memories of creatures, of artifacts, of pets. So many tasty things have died here. So many things were yet to be tasted, added to me, made part of my body.
Some kind of white things on blue things occasionally flashed in my vision. I ignored them and eventually they stopped flashing, stopped distracting me from satisfying my cravings.
Who was I? I could not recall.
The hunger, the thirst for energy drove me onwards, deeper and deeper into the infinite, endless darkness...
