《Give me my lily pad back.》14. Killer Cuisine

King Ethelred usually considered himself the prepared and organised sort, but for the return of his daughter , and the consecutive personality difference , he found himself quite unready, or at least unable to understand.
First of all she was running round in no jewellery whatsoever, which by itself would be something of a shock. Then she had come out armed, at a sensible hour, and dressed in practical attire. Then as if to add even more confusion to the mix when he had sought to give her an excuse as to why the jewel she so ardently sought she had said the one line that was unthinkable.
“Don’t worry about it Father, who needs a shiny rock?” At that the king had nearly had a heart attack, and was now consulting with the royal magicians to ensure she wasn’t a shapeshifter.
Melvin the court sorcerer quickly set up countermeasures, only to reach a shocking revelation, he could handle demons, monsters, ghouls, and ghosts. But according to his scrying this really was the crown princess, (and nobody handled the crown princess.)
King Ethelred sat by a window, peering down at his daughter, desperately training, and could not help but wonder what had gotten into her.
***************************************************************
Of course what had gotten into her, as we all know was a rather energetic frog, who had come to the realisation these hand things were pretty damn useful, and for once she was big enough not to be a snack. The result of this was generations upon generations of froggy grudges coalescing into an amphibian with attitude, armed, and angry.
The guards stood well back as she trained, until her arms (still felt weird to her that these were apparently her arms for now) felt like noodles. Rested awhile , then picked Choppy back up and started all over again. Eventually Rosalind managed to coax her into a more sedate activity, specifically the library. Lasting all of ten minutes before Mibbet felt like her head would explode.

It was apparently basic maths, but numbers were far too abstract to begin with, so Rosalind had settled for explaining using the old abstract how many apples formula. This however just confused Mibbet further. I mean if you have ten flies never mind how many you give away (and who gives away perfectly good flies). Your biggest concern is keeping the little buggers from flying away before you can eat a single one of them.
They’re fast, and they fly. Rosalind tried swapping it out for slugs, only to get a revolted shudder from Mibbet. Along with the suggestion that she get rid of them all as quickly as possible. To say Mibbet was not a fan of slug was like saying the frozen north may be a little bit nippy.
She tried again this time even going as far as to design theoretical a containment facility for the flies, only for Mibbet to become distracted by the prospect of farming flies, even going as far as to study the different types (looking for the tastiest ones to farm of course.) if she ever got back to her normal body this could be the start of an amphibian agricultural advancement.
Moving swiftly on Rosalind swapped onto the subject of physics, and finally managed to hold Mibbets attention for longer than five seconds straight, by encouraging her to work on theoretical fly cages, and ways they could be produced by the admittedly limited production capability of frogs.
That all came crashing down with the call for lunch of course.
**********************************************************************
Mibbet stared at the bowl in a mix of horror, shock, and disgusted outrage. How dare they serve her this........ In front of her sat a large helping of the chefs finest cuisses de grenouille.
Mibbet felt her rage bubbling over, what did they think she was? A cannibal? At her order the royal chef was rapidly ousted from his kitchen and dragged in front of her, she looked absolutely furious.

Chef Grand Cwisinne bowed low, wringing his hat in his hands nervously. as the Princess glowered at him for a moment. “What do you call this?”
“Cuisses de grenouille.” Replied the Chef.
“Spread the word, the next chef who brings this dish anywhere near me will find themselves with less legs than these poor frogs. from this day forward cuisses de grenouille (She practically spat the name) will never be served within this kingdom.”
“Understood your highness.” The head chef bowed low. “may I ask the reason for this ruling?“
Mibbet desperately thought as she tried to cook up a reason. (Not that she needed one according to Rosalind, her name was enough). But eventually something she had seen in the books popped into her mind. She remembered the tastiest flies were the ones with a needle nose, and books mentioning them making humans sick.
“Frogs serve a vital purpose within the kingdom” Mibbet bluffed, pulling out practically every idea she could from every little toe rag who had tried to manipulate Rosalind over the years. (Unsuccessfully of course). “They feed on mosquitoes, mosquitoes that carry diseases that could infect my subjects. Mosquitoes breed really, really fast, and frogs are our best defense. Now if you want to die of some horrible disease like the disgusting malearea then that’s your choice. But I really don’t suggest it, and to stop it we need frogs. So frog is not on the menu.”
Even though she didn’t have to explain really, that seemed to satisfy him. He dashed off as soon as he was dismissed and headed back to the kitchen. Eventually a new dish was brought forward and presented before her.
She uncovered the dish, only to be confronted by a steaming bowl of fresh ESCARGOT.

Modern Age Online Book 1
(Book Two on Amazon here) (Book Three on Amazon Here) Both books should be available through Kindle Unlimited. It is the Future. The realm of online video game entertainment has grown, creating vast and wonderous worlds for people to explore and enjoy. This is the story of Kaleb, a young gamer, and his adventures in the latest Super-Hero Virtual reality MMO: Modern Age Online. Join him as he takes on villains (both player and NPC), joins forces with other player heroes, and even deals with some of the bureaucracy of being a hero in a perfect virtual recreation of the world. No cheats, no guides, just one newbie Super-Hero against the forces of villainy in his new virtual home. Notes: 1.) While not my first time writing, this is my first time throwing anything I've written at the tender mercies of the internet. All criticisms welcome. 2.) Just to inform people early: There is no evil corporation looking to control the world with VR, there is no Krueger-esque "if you die in the game, you die for real.", and this isn't a story of some OP harem-loving god of the system. Nothing wrong with those stories this just isn't one. This is a simple story about a guy playing a game and finally 3.) This story is extremely rough, i did very little editing, this is just me gauging interest really. oh, and English is my 1st language, if for some reason you find that important. Note 2) from now on Book 1 will exist in its entirety on Royal Road while Books 2 and 3 (and any others) will be released on Amazon. I want to thank everyone who has been reading and has taken this weird journey with me. I will continue to write in my spare time and will always be thankful to Royal Road for giving me a space to be creative. Thank you to everyone.

Kyle signed the contract because he wanted to join an exciting pre-release eSports tournament. But now, he’s stuck in an immersive virtual reality world, fighting against hundreds of other players in a competition that might take years to complete. At least, it would take years unless the players unite to tackle the game together... A rules-light VRMMO fiction. The mechanics have a strong survivalcraft influence. The protagonist is far less powerful than in most VRMMO stories, and must exhibit heroism despite weakness. Its themes include the social dynamics of a VR world, a game world's effect on identity, and the influence one person can have on the culture around them.Releases every other M/W/F. Written without prior knowledge of the RPG-Lit genre; I was surpised to find out it was even a thing.

Slave 53: The Phoenix
Azgarth is a violent Warlord from a planet where everyone feared him, a man that never lost a battle whether it be from his enemies surrendering or dying. After entering a wormhole, this once infamous man had his memory completely wiped. He was enslaved under the name 53. The great comet arrived one day and gave 53 an extremely rare animal aspect, the Phoenix. Having a rare animal aspect puts people on the fast track to power in this world. Will 53 show the same brutality as his former self? Author: So there will probably be a lot of changes when I start hashing out the whole classes and what not. I'm not planning on this to have statuses or anything like that, but when people 'lvl up' is probably going to be something like ascending 1, 2, 3, etc. With each ascension they are many times stronger, for example, someone who hasn't ascend at all would be at 0, but someone with a 1 would be about 5x stronger than someone who is 0 and so on. It would take a long time to reach each one. With the red colored marks which represents fire, I have a couple ideas with what I want to do, in a way a battle royale, as this continent they are on isn't very large, but all four elements are on it (or more, I might add light, dark, and some others) but all the humans have red, while a different alien race has blue (water), brown (earth), and grey (Air). The color of the mark they have influences how they feel about each other, a example of that would be if a red saw a brown, then they would naturally feel a disgust about each other, and if they killed someone from a different color they would gain way more life essence which is needed to ascend than they would killing someone from their same color. The last thing, I'm not too sure about the main character yet, as I like the whole idea of a memory wipe, I almost think it'd be more entertaining to have the guy slowly regain all his memory, then just becoming his normal self again. If that's the case I'll have to change the title of book. The original idea was this guy would keep the name 53, and his prior self named Azgarth is sharing his body, as in he can talk to him and give him advice on things since he doesn't want him to die since he is sorta like a split personality sharing the same body. Looking at it now, idk if I want this guy to be named 53 forever. Warning: A lot of dark content in the book, especially in the flashbacks.

Our world has become an apocalyptic wasteland where the only law is that of the strongest. In this nightmare, a band heroes rise up to save the remnants of humanity from itself. They build a great city to shelter the weak, only for the city (and all its inhabitants) to get blown to pieces by what many would call a villain. All the heroes die in the explosion but the goddesses of light and order transport their souls to a fantasy universe where they need to vanquish the demons and save humanity. The heroes succeed and 'peace' returns. These acts left the goddess of Chaos dying and as you all know desperate times call for desperate measures. "The only thing that can defeat a hero is a villain and luckily I know where to find one, one that has already killed them once." , -The goddess of chaos The Villain that once bested the heroes gets revived as a Dracolich, an undead dragon of great power, and brings with him a storm a Chaos and Fun. "I can't really say I won against them in our last life since we all ended dying in that explosion, but this time I'm gonna win our fun little rematch."- Villain This story is about a Villain who just wants to have a good time and maybe create a little mayhem. Note: I know I tagged this story with an anti-hero lead tag, but that is only because there is no tag called villain lead.
