Black Tech Internet Cafe System Chapter 309 – Why can’t I use it?
Translator: Noodletown Translations Editor: Noodletown Translations
Different from other cultivators who attended the auction, Mr. Fang didn’t care about how to practice the Magic Shield Spell and how much it could sell for.
Instead, he picked up a spiritual fruit and stuffed it into his mouth before asking in a muffled voice while chewing, “This girl looks grand. The moment that she showed up, the room quieted down.”
“Girl?”
“Grand?”
The moment he said it, Ruan Ning and the other girls around him looked toward him with weird expressions.
“What?” Fang Qi stared back at them.
“Sir…”
“Guild President…”
“I guess you didn’t try to learn anything about the inner city; you don’t even know the basic stuff.” Ruan Ning and the others looked at him as if he was an alien.
From their viewpoint, anyone who went to a new place must get to know the forces in the area and the people that they couldn’t mess with. However, Mr. Fang knew nothing about the city after being here for a while now.
“What basic knowledge?” Mr. Fang shrugged.
Ruan Ning became furious with him instantly. “Now, I’ll fill you in with the basic knowledge. In the inner city of Half City, you might be okay if you offend some people, but you can never mess with five people. Four of them are the true rulers of Half City, and they are respected; they are known as the Four Kings. The fifth one is the woman standing in front of us. Even the high-level cultivators of the big factions in the Morning Star Sea Realm only dare to cuss her and call her ‘Demonic Girl’ in private; they don’t dare to show any disrespect in front of her!”
“So…” Fang Qi asked earnestly, “She is truly a monster, right?”
“That Little Brother over there; it’s not polite to ask this question.” Suddenly, a charming glance turned toward him.

Fang Qi thought to himself, Such good hearing?
The woman was so charming that she could dazzle people with her smiles and frowns.
However, it seemed like she didn’t pursue the topic. Instead, she continued to introduce, “It takes about half a month to two months to master this technique.”
“So fast?!”
“So, it means that one can obtain an extra life-saving technique in a short time!”
All the cultivators in the room looked surprised. After all, it usually took months to years to master a powerful spiritual spell.
This Magic Shield Spell is not only powerful but also easy to master?!
The Xichi Spiritual Master asked, “Then, how long is the casting time? Does it need incantations?”
“The casting time is very short,” the woman answered. “It doesn’t need incantations, but the only drawback is that it has a special cultivation method.”
While she said that, she glanced back at Mr. Fang meaningfully. “You need to cultivate it in a specific place in Half City.”
“The starting price is so high?!” With a dark expression, Black Demon hesitated and didn’t know if he should bid for it.
“5,500!” At this moment, someone bid for it.
It was a male cultivator who was hiding in a black cloak.
“6,200!”
“7,000!” That grey-clothed cultivator of the Haoran Faction joined in.
Seeing the fast-climbing prices, the internet café players who had either come here to watch or to bid for items were all dumbfounded since they found that the people who were doing most of the bidding weren’t them!
After all, in their minds. a Magic Shield Spell Skill Book was only about 5,000. If they were lucky, they might get one in the game one day.
However, for other cultivators, this simple and powerful spiritual spell deserved a high price tag, and they were willing to spend time to master it.
The price of the first Magic Shield Spell Skill Book grew sharply.

“10,000!” the Xichi Spiritual Master snorted. Obviously, she was determined to get it.
“11,000!” The cultivators sitting at a table near Fang Qi all had gloomy auras, and the person who spoke was the oldest one among them.
“Feng Family!” Sitting next to Fang Qi, Mo Tianxing said with a cold expression.
“12,000!” Xichi Spiritual Master continued bidding; she didn’t frown and wasn’t a bit bothered by the high price.
“Since the Xichi Spiritual Master is determined to get this Magic Shield Spell, I give up on bidding!” the gloomy cultivator of the Feng Family said in a deep voice.
Soon, the Xichi Spiritual Master bought the first Magic Shield Spell Skill Book.
Sitting beside her, her disciples such as Mo Xian and Liu Ningyun were at a loss for words.
Should I take Master to level up? Liu Ningyun was torn inside since her own level wasn’t that high!
Should I play this game too? Mo Xian had tears on her face. But the skill books are so expensive…
Then, the second Magic Shield Spell Skill Book was put on auction, and the bidding war was fiercer than the first one. In the end, a golden-clothed cultivator bought it for 18,000 crystals.
“A cultivator from the inner city!” Xi Yue said in a low voice.
Since the inner city was the administration of the entirety of Half City, this cultivator must have a high status.
“The next item…” The woman smiled, and the image of a long stick appeared before her.
“What’s this treasure?”
“I’ve never seen it before?”
“What’s it for?”
“Limitless Stick!” The Taoist players who were in the auction exclaimed. Right now, the Limitless Stick was the best weapon for Taoists before the Dragon Mark Sword appeared.
“Limitless Stick. Damage: 8-16; Daoist Spell: 3-5.” The woman obviously had learned a lot of gaming knowledge, and her introduction sounded quite professional. “This stick was made with a branch of the World Tree and Five Elemental Godly Water. It is a virtual item in a fantasy world. Due to its special function, the starting price is 3,000 crystals!”
“Special function?”
“Fantasy world?”
“What is it?!”
“3,500!” Iron Rock Daoist, one of the guardians of the Huang Family, began bidding.
“4,000!” Yu Cangshan, the chubby old man who sat with Mo Tianxing, opened his mouth and made an offer.
“5,000!” The middle-aged cultivator of the Feng Family snorted and joined in.
“Do you even know what this thing is for?!” Yu Cangshan was angry. “What can you do with it?!”
“I’m rich, and I just want to buy it for fun!”
“6,000!” This came from Xue Shuilong of White Dragon Office, the Taoist whom Fang Qi had once killed.
“What’s this thing? Why are so many people fight for it?” The grey-clothed cultivator of the Haoran Faction was suspicious. “Fantasy world? Is it a secret realm that we don’t know about?! I offer 7,000!”
“Master…” The cold-eyed young Daoist who was wearing the black-and-white Daoist robe said, “Should we…”
“Let’s observe them first,” the grey-haired cultivator, who was sitting next to him, said. “If necessary, we can bid for it!”
“8,000!” The Xichi Spiritual Master placed the bid already.
“Master…” Liu Ningyun couldn’t help but say, “You have a skill book for wizards now. Why do you want to buy this one?”
“So many people are fighting for it; it must be a rare treasure,” the Xichi Spiritual Master said with a snort, “Yun’er, if the price is good, I will buy it!”
Mo Xian couldn’t bear it anymore. “Master, this is a weapon for a Taoist; you can’t use it…”
“Why can’t I use a weapon for a Taoist?!” the Xichi Spiritual Master said in a cold voice, “I have practiced Daoism for many years and had joined the Nanhua Faction, a Daoist faction! Why can’t I use it!”
Liu Ningyun: “…”
Mo Xian: “…”

Lost In Translation
If you're one to travel the roads, you may have heard of me. You may have heard my Names in the stories, the songs, and the whispers of the road. Perhaps you've even seen me during my travels, speaking to a bird of blue light, or on a city street, performing small acts for coin and repute. Or perhaps you may know me as the Skystrider, who walked with the wind. Or the Voiceless, a man of song without speech. You may know me as the Tutor, who taught the Lion of Summer how to fight, or the Traveler, who has walked all the roads of the earth. I am all of these things. And people have branded me a myth. But people don't understand what a myth is. They haven't heard the songs lost to our tongues, nor have they seen the things I've seen. They haven't gone to the places I've gone. My feet have walked the plains, the seas, and the clouds. I have spoken languages unspoken; tongues lost to time. I have sung to the earth, held the moon in my arms, and walked the roads that your heroes hesitate to even mention. I have outwitted Demons. I have danced with the Fae. My songs have been heard by lords of wind and ash, and my steps have echoed in the bellies of gargantuan beasts the likes of which you have never seen. These are what real myths are. And me? I'm no legend. I'm just the bard stupid enough to poke the real ones with a stick. Discord link here. [Disclaimer: Book 1 of this story will likely be published in KU by around the start of 2022, so please keep that in mind. Book 2 and onwards will continue here until they are published as well.]

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
