The settlers of old called that land “Madswali”.

On the far side of the Sepris channel laid a realm most remote, inhospitable, and dark. An island, a cradle to strange forms of flora and fauna unlike anything found in the rest of Noertia. Since time immemorial, odd beasts have roamed its ragged jungles and untrodden vales, bearers to exotic diseases horrid and deadly.

And, according to some, things yet worse.

As if the very soil itself were cursed.

The few brave pioneers and hunters who ventured onto the island were never to be seen again. Mortal men soon abandoned all thought of conquering such a place of evil, and the name Madswali faded from all records.

Today, no one remembers what that word even stood for.

That broken fragment of land beyond the Henglog marsh is known by a different title.
