《Old Cultivation Record》Chapter 28 - Bunch of Dudes Waiting

“Yo. Have a seat. Someone grab this dude a drink. What do you want?” The man asks. “Name's Brolly, in case I haven't mentioned it.” He continues to say.
“I think Daryl mentioned you a few times. I'll take a double of whiskey if you have it.” Taylor responds.
“Hey, get the bourbon from the back. You know the one.” Brolly tells the bartender before looking to Taylor. “So the higher-ups called. They told us you'd be our Enforcer. Last guy died not too long ago. For the moment, there's not much to do. But this job can get real hairy. Just ask for help when you need it. They told us you would be able to handle yourself, but you're just a kid. You might be willing to get your hands dirty, but some of the things we're going to ask of you might push your morals a bit. They said you might say no, but at that point their deal with you would be off. Understand?” Brolly says before asking for confirmation.
“Yeah, I understand. Just call me when you have a job. I don't touch kids or women, though. I'll say that now. But if you have like a honeypot situation going on with a woman, let me know.” Taylor says with a chuckle.
“Alright. I'll keep that in mind.” Brolly says before continuing. “Also one last thing. Our rival gang is the Mountain Climbers. Keep it in mind. A lot of our requests will be about them.” He says.
…
…
“You got one for me? Who?” Taylor asks.
“Dude's name is Jackson. He's been dealing on our territory with orders from the Mountain Climbers. They heard we had a new Enforcer and they wanted to test you out so they've been pushing for a fight. They'll probably ambush you, just saying.” Brolly says over the phone. “Depending on how well you do, there could be peace between us for a while. Do you need any help?” He asks out of courtesy.

“Ugh. I'll see how the first bout goes first and I'll let you know.” Taylor responds. “What are my orders? Just beat? Or is there killing involved? I'd rather not kill anyone just to test the waters.” Taylor says.
“Yeah, just kick their ass and we'll be good. No need to start a blood feud.” He responds.
“Alright. Tell me their location.” Taylor says.
“They called and said they're waiting for you at the corner of 5th and 4th street. They'll lead you from there. There's a decent amount of courtesy here if you ask me.” Brolly says.
“Okay, I'm on my way.” Taylor responds.
…
…
Taylor pulled up to the street. There was a dude waiting at the corner.
Taylor pulled down his windows and called out to the dude.
“Yo! Guy! Come over here!” Taylor called out.
The dude ran over and leaned down to talk to Taylor. He passes Taylor a piece of paper. “This is the location.” He says before walking away.
Taylor pulls his windows up and looks down to read the paper. “Where the fuck is this?” He asks. He put the address in his phone gps and left.
…
…
Taylor walked on until he found a field behind the school. It was a weekend so no kids were here.
There were a bunch of dudes waiting, smoking cigarettes and drinking beer to pass the time.
Taylor walked closer and called out to them. “Yo!” He calls out. “No guns, right? I don't want to play with guns today!” He continues to call out.
One of them looks up. “No guns!” He calls back.
“Awesome! I'll be there in a moment!” Taylor says before walking closer.
...
…
They formed up in front of Taylor. Taylor assumed the heavy hitters were in front.

“Alright, you guys want to start this off? I'm kind of nervous.” Taylor says as he watches the bodies of those people in front of him. They shifted gears already. Oh. Here they come. Taylor thinks.
Swing and a miss. Taylor thinks as he avoids the blow and sends a punch back, knocking the dude out.
Hesitation. That’s not good. Taylor thinks as he bolts to the next dude and sends out a quick hit, also knocking him out.
Still hesitating? Whatever. Taylor continues to think before moving to the next guy.
Someone breaks out of the trance and calls out to the others. “Jump him!”
“Oh, shit. Finally.” Taylor says. He swivels through the punches and kicks, sending back a few of his own. Eventually everyone was down for the count, some of them still conscious and groaning in pain.
Taylor wiped the dust off his body and began to walk back to his car. As he walked forward he saw a figure on top of the school.
It was a man and as Taylor looked at him, his eyes flashed red.
“Not bad.” The man says, his voice somehow resonating in Taylor's ears. “But watch out for the vampire family behind the Mountain Climbers. They're a bit more heartless than we are.” The man said before his figure dissolves, seemingly having disappeared.

Heather the Necromancer
Heather was a normal girl living in an abnormal world. When the visitors came, they struggled to understand humans and their ways. It was through video games they began to learn, and then they came up with a plan. They created a virtual world of magic and dragons where people could translate and become parts of the game. Through this world, they watched and learned, growing in their understanding of us. She knew little about it, only what came across the occasional tweet or blog post. She knew that people went into the world known as New Eden because they volunteered. She also knew that rarely other people were forcefully drawn in; these were referred to as the chosen. Heather didn’t pay much attention to it all. For most of the world, things went on like they always had. She had classes to attend and boys to tease, and her cell phone was her world. That was until she woke in a forest clearing and realized she had been chosen. Discord Server

A Queen of Ruins
Some people just want to watch the world burn. I'm not one of those people. Some people see the world as something to be saved, and brought to heights never before imagined. Again, not me. What kind of person am I? I'm a Queen, plain and simple. Lots of people, noble and commoner alike, often complain about life being a cruel mistress, or something similar. When I hear those complaints, I can only laugh, or look at them in contempt. Life is simple, you only need to let yourself take the path you are meant for. Me, I was born a bastard, lived with my mostly sadistic half-siblings, among people who thought I was naturally inferior. And look at me now. *********** I do not claim ownership of the picture

It didn't take long for Kalie to realize that even though she finds herself in a strange world, she may just be one of the strangest parts of it. As Kalie comes to terms with her bizarre new life, she finds herself set in the sights of the powerful new king of a far off land. Eventually finding herself taken away to be Caged within the Ravencourt. This story is world spanning, and slow to start. It's my intention to build up towards the epic story I'm hoping to tell. Don’t expect over the top powers, just smart characters using magic interestingly. And, like my other stories, the focus is on the characters themselves, less so the world they’re in. Enjoy!
