《My Pixie Familiar》Chapter 20

“Open this one,” Lily told me while pointing at a container in another bedroom’s closet.
“Do I really have to?”
“Jase, don’t get in the way of a girl and her clothes!”
I laughed and pulled the container out of the closet. “Is that some sort of unwritten rule?”
“Yep!” Lily answered spinning in the air. “Open it already.”
I found the latches and opened the case. I pulled out a pair of pants and held them up. “These are way too small for me.”
“They’re the right size for me though,” Lily replied taking them from me and holding them up to her waist. I pulled out the rest of the pixie sized clothing. There were six pair of pants, two of which were jeans. Even though the pants were tiny, they looked better made than anything I had ever seen. Lily landed beside the pile I made and started holding different shirts and pants up together mixing and matching them.
“Having fun?” I asked and smiled.
“Yes! What do you think of this combination?” Lily replied. She held up a light blue shirt and black pants that looked very small compared to the others.
“I don’t know,” I answered shrugging my shoulders.
“Hmph! Men!”
My smile widened at Lily’s outburst. “Why don’t you try them on and show me what it looks like on you?”
Lily’s expression changed to one of happiness. “You really want to see me in them?”
“Sure,” I replied.
“Yay!” Lily said and flew off clutching the tiny clothing. I picked up one of the shirts and turned it around. It had cutouts in the back. I checked a long-sleeved shirt. It had the cutouts too. The others had them as well.

“Well, that answers the question of if these were doll clothes or really something made for pixies. These cutouts must be for their wings.”
“And more proof that I was correct that we belong together,” Lily said as she flew back in. She flew past me and landed in the container. The pixie tossed out several tiny pairs of shoes and boots. Lily emerged wearing some sort of shoes with spikes under the heel. I held up my right hand and she landed on my palm. The spikes weren’t sharp and didn’t hurt. She walked back and forth on my hand and struck a pose sticking a hip out. “What do you think?”
“I’ve never seen anything like it. What are those leggings made out of and how did you get into them?” I answered. The pants were so tight I couldn’t believe she got into them. Lily frowned. Sensing her disappointment, I said, “You look great though!”
Lily beamed and her emotions surged from disappointment to happiness. “These are leather pants, and the shoes are called high heels.”
“High heels? I suppose that name is sensible.”
Lily laughed. “I think so too. Though I don’t think I could wear the heels that often. They’re sort of uncomfortable.”
I laughed. “Yes, I wouldn’t want to wear any if they were in my size.”
“If you want to try some on, look in the bottom of the container under the dresses and other clothes.”
“This is all women’s clothing?”
“Uh huh.”
“No thanks. Why don’t you try those,” I said pointing to a pair of tiny short boots.
“The ankle boots?”
“If that’s what they’re called, yeah.”
“Good eye. The color matches the leggings well enough,” Lily said flying down to the boots. “I’ll need some…ah ha!” Lily put on a pair of tiny socks and then the boots. She walked around a bit. “Oooh! Comfy!”

“I thought you said there would be clothing for me too.”
“There is. The men’s clothing is in the other container.”
“Thanks,” I said and pulled the container out of the closet. Just like the other one, this container, held several pairs of pants, shirts, underclothes, boots, and shoes. I checked them all only to find the clothing too large for me. “Lily, all this stuff is too big for me.”
Lily turned to face me and flew over. “The clothes resize to fit the wearer silly.”
“They do?”
“Yes. Try some on!”
“The ancients sure knew how to create things, didn’t they?”
“Yep,” Lily replied. I selected a shirt and pair of jeans and started to walk out of the room. “Just change in here.”
I shrugged my shoulders. “Alright. Just don’t peek.”
“Of course, I will.”
“Lily!”
“What?”
“You left to preserve your modesty.”
“That’s different. I’m a lady,” my familiar replied. “Besides, I’ve been peeking at you since you were a child.”
“What? Why?”
“Because you’re my human.”
“Shouldn’t that apply to my familiar too?”
“Nope! Girls always have different rules about these sorts of things,” Lily replied smugly. “Now change!”

“The wall screen too,” Lily said as we made a final sweep of the living quarters for anything we wanted to take with us.
“Why take it?”
“For entertainment.”
“Isn’t that why we took the computer?”
“Yeah, but we didn’t you enjoy watching movies on it?”
“Sure.”
“That’s why we’re taking it with us.”
“That solar power system we took from the industrial storage will power everything we are taking?” I asked.
“Between it, the battery storage system, and generator, sure.”
“And just how are we going to use all that? We don’t even have a place to live.”
“We’ll get a house in Stonecroft. The village will give us a house just like Beau Ferry did your parents.”
“I sure hope so.”
“Trust me.”
“Always,” I replied which made Lily smile. “Does the generator work off the sun or solar too?”
“Nope. It is steam powered. That means water is heated until it evaporates and produces energy.”
“And what happens to the steam?”
“It’s captured and stored in a tank in the generator. It cools and turns back into water.”
“Which is then used to make more steam.”
“You got it!” Lily praised me. I put the nano storage box under the screen, and it shrunk and disappeared into the box. I put the box in the backpack we found in another storage area. “Place the bedding we aren’t taking with us on top of your old clothes in the pack. I think our merchant friends will be very interested in buying them from you.”
“Great idea!” I replied and did as Lily suggested. “Should we turn off the lights?”
“Nah. Let them be a clue for anyone that is brave enough to face Sara and the other creatures here,” Lily said as she flew to me and climbed into my shirt pocket.
“Works for me,” I replied and walked out of the room.
