《Tales of Demons and Dragons - An Original Xianxia GameLit》Chapter 24 - Cowboy Style

He had experienced the feeling of being on the verge of death many times, but only in the first part of his life had he felt so powerless.
The Hellspawn Chameleon had spikes all over its body. Its maw was oversized and dripped acidic spit; it was not as potent and corrosive as stronger monsters he had met but still deadly at his current level.
“JULIET! HELENA!” Jacob was ashamed of himself, but he did need immediate help.
The Hellspawn Chameleon was an opportunistic killer, though, and it would not let such an opportunity escape. So the Demonic Beast charged at him with staggering speed, and Jacob could do only one thing.
Forbidden Technique 64, Forced Flow
Accelerate
He activated the only Martial Technique that could save his life at the moment and pumped as much Qi as his weak Meridians let him through his legs.
The Hellspawn Chameleon was the size of a huge dog. Almost like a tiger, to be honest. It had incredible speed and acceleration, even though maneuvering was a bit hard with such a body.
Do you think you can take advantage of me just because I’m weak?
Jacob was not going to flee. He had always faced his problems with his head held high.
“Come on, you little sh*t,” he said to himself while the Hellspawn Chameleon closed in.
As soon as the monster got a few meters in front of him, the Hellspawn Chameleon opened his mouth and launched a massive tongue in his direction. Jacob knew from his past life that such a tongue could actually break rocks with its great strength. Of course, if he got caught, he would die. But he also knew that such a tongue could barely swerve and twist.
He did what no one would do.

He jumped.
Jacob used the momentum from acceleration to jump on the Hellspawn Chameleon that had just stopped to launch its tongue. He gripped one of the thorns and latched with his legs onto it.
Cowboy style.
The Hellspawn Chameleon was too fast to try and lose him. His best bet was stalling until Juliet or Helena arrived. This monster was dangerous but not nearly as tough as the Alpha Demonic Wolf. Therefore, Juliet would be able to hurt it and, thanks to her regenerative abilities, she would be able even to tank a few hits.
“Goddammit, just stay put,” Jacob swore while the Hellspawn Chameleon tried to get him off its back. It was like a bull ride, but if you fell, you would die.
Jacob started humming and chanting a few words. He was ready to unleash a more powerful Forbidden Technique if necessary.
In fact, he knew a couple of ways he could maybe get rid of this beast. However, there was no way he would be unscathed. He was too weak to face this beast without dying. Even now, he could barely hang on to it for his dear life while praying that the two girls somehow managed to hear him.
After not even a minute, Jacob could feel his arms and legs turning into jelly. He could not keep this up any longer. His aunt and Joseph had not come yet, meaning that they probably went out of the house. Another reason the Hellspawn Chameleon decided to attack.
Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t.
However, right when he was feeling his grip slipping, he saw a figure running toward the beast with a massive steel rod in his hand.
What the actual fu*k.
Frederick sidestepped the huge tongue and the subsequent claws of the Hellspawn Chameleon and planted slammed the metal rod in on the monster’s face.

Jacob felt the monster buckle and jumped on its front, infusing two fingers with Qi and sticking them in the Hellspawn Chameleon’s eye. He rolled to the side while the monster roared violently and charged him.
Frederick body-slammed the Hellspawn Chameleon and veered it away from Jacob.
When did this bastard become so fuc**ng courageous?
Jacob pivoted and palmed one of the monster’s legs. Being at the 1st level of the Cockroach realm, he still had some Qi he could use.
2-Revolutions Palm
The hit snapped the thin foreleg and made the monster stumble.
“Give me the rod!” Jacob shouted.
Frederick hesitated for a second but then launched the steel spike toward him.

Jacob empowered all his limbs and jumped in mid-air, catching the slightly off-course rod. Then, as soon as he held in his hands, he used Accelerate mid-air and glided upon pure air toward the stunned monster’s face.
Jacob deeply penetrated the other eye with the rod.
“Fu*ker,” Jacob spat some blood on the ground. Even though he had not been hit directly, the rodeo he had just had on top of the Hellspawn Chameleon had reopened some internal wounds that the Three-Colored Stalk still hadn’t healed.
He slowly slid to the ground while the monster started registering its own death. His guts felt on fire: he felt like throwing up everything he had ever eaten altogether.
But first, he had to deal with the guy that was observing him with profound curiosity.
“So, Jacob, care to explain how you just did that?” a wicked smile appeared on Frederick’s face.
Was this bastard hidden while I almost lost my life? No, it cannot be. The Hellspawn Chameleon would have noticed this little f*ck.
Jacob could not figure out where Joseph had come from.
Helena and Juliet appeared half a minute after the kill, finding the two guys staring at each other in silence.
Juliet’s mouth widened at the sight of the Hellspawn Chameleon on the ground.
“What happened?” she asked.
“Dear Jacob here killed a very tough monster, even though he was in bed this morning, claiming to have been rescued by a mysterious man.”
Do I need to kill him? That was Jacob’s first thought.

The Protagonist is eccentric, to say the least, so don't expect any heroic dude. He can be a madman and a hypocrite, if that is not to your taste, then this isn't a story for you.
