《Chronicles of Kyr》Book Lost(2.5), Chapter 27 SIC

As Kyrion made his way to the cafeteria, he sensed someone behind him. Moving out of the way proved ineffective, which had the opposite effect. So he moved back, and they did as well.

“Watch out!” Yelled a female voice.

While Kyrion could have sped up his body and evaded, such a thing would have been obvious, so he tried to move out of the way one last time, purposefully tripping himself in the process, out of the way just so long as she…

“Ahhh!”

The young woman had moved to the side again and was too close. Slowing down resulted in various cups of coffee flying forward and coating the downed boy in hot liquid.

To Kyrion, it was lukewarm and mildly annoying, as those were his new clothes. The liquid was automatically absorbed into his domain as he got to his feet and sighed. “You owe me for the clothes.”

Kyrion looked at the second troublesome girl he’d run into. This day, hopefully, he wouldn’t be run into again.

“Sorry!” The girl bowed, noticing the coffee spread everywhere, horror dawning.

“How am I supposed to finish the day without my coffee?” The girl had dirty blond hair and eyes as dark as the deep sea. Her green clothes were also a bit scuffed from the fall.

“It seems I don’t really like coffee, it’s too hot and tends to get everywhere..”

“Why aren’t you screaming?”

“It’s mildly painful, I’ve felt worse though.”

“Are you one of those tea drinkers?”

“I don’t drink poison. Last time my mother gave me tea, my liver had to fight off something powerful and I was sick for a week. Well she didn’t give me the tea, she sat it down and left to do something.”

“Stranger who I just crashed into. This must be fate. Meet me in G134 after school and I’ll repay you then.”

Kyrion squinted in suspicion. “Why?”

“Why?”

Kyrion signed as he ducked into a bathroom and left seconds later in a new set of clean clothes. A gambler hat with a blue feather sticking out from the side was atop his head. Over his body was a brown shirt covered by a blue jean vest. He wore blue jeans pants with a belt that had silver fur lining the edges. He wore a set of brown waxed leather boots. He looked as though he had walked right out of an old-fashioned Western.

As Kyrion sat in front of Kilo, getting two plates of lunch, he looked at the young synthetic person in front of him.

“I thought I told you that is a bit too much for school.”

“I had brought them to change into, after school. Sadly someone got bean juice on my clothes.”

“Coffee?”

“I think that’s what she called it.”

“Another she?”

“I can only do so much to get out of someone’s way. It seems that I am drawing attention from this G134.” Kyrion sighed as he activated his connection with the strange entity in his eye.

「 Master, I have gained a tier of intelligence after spreading through the local network. What do you require?」

“Less buzzing.” Kyrion tapped at his head.

“Kyrion?”

「 Redirecting waves, G134 is the Occult Research Society. Made up of people who are aware of magic and supernatural abilities but want to know where they come from. A few have minor abilities, nothing that would make them dangerous to you. 」

“I see.” Kyrion bridged his fingers and looked ahead seriously.

“What do you see?”

“That sandwich you haven’t touched. You gonna eat that?”

“I neither taste nor require sustenance in this form. But I need to keep appearances.”

“Makes sense. Not like I burned many calories today.”

Lunch ended, and the duo entered the library.

“This is where my day ends, you can just do whatever. I kinda just help out here during this period.”

Seeing the absurd number of books, Kyrion scowled. “How are these organized?”

“Fiction is organized by the author’s last name followed by first and is on that side. Nonfiction has a code based on the subject it covers.” Kilo explained the organizational system with no noticeable annoyance.”

Kyrion spent two hours devouring information, enhancing his memory and recall by filling in the useful information and diagrams in spots that resembled where he pulled the book. Now, when he needed information, he could recall it page by page, and while in an energy-saving state, he could trickle the backlog of information straight to his brain or practice what he obtained to make the knowledge his own.

「 Program created, enhanced recall.] The creature in his eye stated as the connection seared into Kyrion’s brain.

There wasn’t much pain outside of a stinging in his eye that faded after a long minute.

「 You will now recall information you have seen but not learned in real-time when you require it.]

“That stings. I could already do that.” Kyrion leaned forward and continued to look through the various books. He’d gotten to the end of the two hundred and was about to start on the three hundred when Kilo arrived.

“Did you read all of those books, that fast?”

“I can process information faster than most. Oddly enough, my thoughts seem faster and easier to call on. Ever since arriving, before a recent incident added more to that ability.” Kyrion tapped the temple next to his prosthetic eye.

“Kyr… Let’s head home for the day.”

“Nah. I kinda promised I’d go to that room today, you should come along too. It will help you blend in and I don’t know names. Finally it may have something to do with that job Notdad gave me.”

“Already have a lead?”

“Possibly. I noticed a few curiosities.”

“Fine.”

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

“Also, I don’t know where this G-area is.”

“That makes more sense.” Kilo sighed.

Kilo brought Kyrion to an entirely new wing and made his way to the end of a hall. The room contained various workshop tables and desks.

A black-haired boy in a hoodie and glasses sat in the back of the class and seemed to be putting together a relatively large robot. His focus was dead on, and his movements were nonstop.

It would be sad if some troublesome giant knocked it off the table.

Kyrion turned to look directly at a taller, ginger-haired girl with brown eyes. “Yes, it would be a shame. Did you do that?”

The Ginger Esper turned her head in the opposite direction. “How did…”

“It’s obvious to anyone paying attention.”

“So what can you do?”

“I’m really strong—stupidly so. It just took a lot of P.E. classes to get it right,” Kyrion said.

“So just a normal person, who likes exercise.”

“It’s my first day here! I also brought my cousin–brother? We’re waiting for this lira lady.”

“It’s Mira.” A folder hit his upper back relatively softly as he stood in the doorway.

“Right! My Myra!”

“Are you doing this on purpose?”

“He just likes messing with people. If you don’t react, he loses.” Kilo said in a choppy monotone.

“The differences between the two of you is astounding.”

“Are astounding.” Kyrion held his head in horror.

“My you are, more prim than you look.”

“Well, madam, it must be the nobility in me. Sometimes it slips out,” Kyrion said in a country drawl. He was overcorrecting, going past the natural one he’d grown out of. It was obvious he was forcing it.

“Darn tootin partner.” Mira replied.

“Is that a question? Where is Darn?” Kyrion didn’t know who this Darn was, but Twotin was a dangerous mutation back home. It was a mutation where limbs and organs would grow in places where there shouldn’t be limbs or those organs, like a hand from the side of your head, among other things. On occasions, there would be a helpful one, like a second set of arms or a second heart.

Kyrion looked at a man with a third eye on his forehead. His head was clean-shaven, and he wasn’t muscular, but he did show signs of moderate exercise.

“I’ll save you Darn!” Kyrion would remove that eye.

Kilo slapped Kyion on the back of his head to get his attention.

“What?”

“Don’t take colloquialisms seriously. It’s a saying over here, they don’t know what Twotin is.”

Mira looked dumbstruck. “Why are you talking about farts like it’s a life or death occurrence?”

“You mean gastronomical releases? Those only happen with children back home.”

“Where is this home?”

“I don’t remember, I was little when I got separated from my parents and was only recently found by some people in suits.” Kyrion lied by omission.

“You must come from some bizarre place.”

Kyrion switched languages when he said the following. “Limguard is an odd place.”

No one seemed to notice as Kyrion said something incomprehensible.

That was until a chocolate-skinned man stood up from a desk. He was closer to Volain’s build and seemed familiar. His hair was cut short, and a streak of skin was clear of hair to show sharpness. He wore a jersey and eyed Kyrion for a long moment.

“So English really wasn’t your first language. That almost reminded me of Hebrew.” Issac stated.

“Is that so?” Kyrion looked at the man he’d overlooked earlier because he was focusing on the blond leading that duo. Wait, no, it was a trio! Kyrion hadn’t bothered to remember what the third looked like.

“What are you doing here? Got some magic on top of that muscle and observation?” Isaac wondered if his position was being challenged.

“I was invited because Mira is convinced I’m someone else. Also, my cousin needs friends.”

“Hey! You said you needed directions.” Kilo reapplied.

“I also don’t know how to get back home yet, so you might as well stick with me then.”

“Oh right, the one eyed red haired demon lord. You have two eyes and black hair.”

“Yeah that doesn’t match me at all. The green eyes do match however. That shade isn’t a common one and yet your resemblance to Kilo is present.”

“He’d look more like me if he didn’t suffer from albinism. I think it runs in the family.”

“So he isn’t a vampire? What about reports of him avoiding outside classes?”

“I can get sunburnt very easily.” The truth was that he didn’t sweat while in his false body.

“Right, as this was a mandatory meeting, can you start before I’m late to practice?”

“Ok!” Mira stated.

The young woman took to the pedestal. “So I already informed you all of the cult gathering right? I had thought it suspicious, so I informed everyone of you where we’d be going. Oddly enough, it was a trap, although, a demon was summoned. One strong enough to destroy a van just by ramming into it. This demon was capable of transformation, it seems and easily learned our language minutes after arrival. From there I have been told that he managed to fix an issue in my heart I wasn’t aware of as well as heal everyone else present in the middle of a black out that lasted seconds. I was also given a vial of medicine for my grandmother. The smell alone was enough to wake her from her coma. Also, you should know that the cult leader intended to drug us, and sell our organs so…K.O.S.”

“Healed a damaged heart in seconds. Did you feel anything?” Isaac asked.

“A cooless on my back for a brief moment. But that was it. What about your experience with the supernatural Isaac?”

“That was quick. Someone on my team had been keeping quiet about an injury they received during a game but today it seemed miraculously healed. During our workout I could tell that he was able to push himself further than usual.”

“I see, considering he sat out during the last game it’s obvious he hurt something. He is the team’s best runner guy.”

“Running Back.”

“Anyhow, Sera, anything new?”

“I found a supernatural discount at the mall. My favorite store had everything set to 50% off. That store never has sales like that. I almost died trying to get a good pair of heels.” The ginger sighed.

“Alright. Jin?”

“Busy!” Jin yelled from the back.

“Moca!”

“Hmm? I nearly got hit by a car. It drove through my mom’s cafe. It’s why I was late to school. Also, I owe the new dude something.” Moca threw a brown mushroom-shaped object.

“Looks like a mushroom.” Kyrion bit into the plastic wrap coating and chewed.

“You aren’t supposed to eat the wrap.”

Kyrion swallowed before answering, as it was always important not to talk with your mouth full. He had been mildly tempted to bring this girl into his domain and have her make these delicious snakes for all eternity. He needed some new minions, after all.

“How else do I eat it?”

“Take the clear stuff off.”

Kyrion peeled it, and much to everyone’s surprise, no one noticed any crumbs fall to the floor. They didn’t know this, but Kyrion didn’t waste food. That was Bastion’s job. Suffice it to say the muffin was gone in seconds.

“Lee, did you notice anything odd?” The bald kid opened his two eyes, and his third eye vanished into the wind.

“I had a vision. A Tiger and Dragon falling from holes in the sky. I also saw a man with white and brown hair fighting both. The man wore the symbol of three swords being pressed together.”

“What did this dragon look like?”

“Blood red scales, emerald gemlike eyes, and a scarf of white. It was a long dragon as well so it could be in Asia at the moment. Although it landed further east than the tiger.”

“Interesting.”

Jin let out a sigh and looked up. “I can sense a hole in reality relatively close by. It should appear Friday night at around eleven PM. I think it’s called a dungeon.”

“A dungeon?” Kyrion raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah, we can go in and get stronger there. I believe we could even gain access to magic or weapons if we complete it.”

“How long is it going to stay open.”

“Forever. It’s odd, though. It seems this dungeon requires a key to enter.” Jin wiped his brow upon finishing his model.

“Isaac, you can now go to practice.” Mira stated

“A shame… That dungeon thing sounds interesting.”

“You should be able to make it back before it starts.”

“Yeah, I’ll just be exhausted.” Isaac got to his feet and sighed.

Kyrion looked at Isaac, expecting to see a bird, but relaxed momentarily. “What are the chances I meet someone with the same name as someone I know?”

“Pretty common.” Kilo stated.
