《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 146: Chimes of Melodies Part 8

A little time later, Zalroth silently watched the glass ceiling dome of Malfarothian Stadium gradually get darker and darker while having his arms crossed. He rhythmically tapped his fingers against the side of his arm his taps vaguely resembling the song Kurai's band was playing. Zalroth tightened the grip of his hand on his left arm before he closed his eyes. Chronia quietly pouted before standing up and floating off Zalroth's tails. She lightly chopped the back of Zalroth's head, making him glance back at her.
"Alright you scaredy fox, she'll be fine," Chronia said in a playfully stern way. Zalroth mentally sighed and didn't reply as he turned back to watching the stadium, making Chronia poutfully frown at Zalroth before she turned invisible. At sensing Chonia's spiritual energies disappear, Zalroth lowered his head and defeatedly sighed while thinking Chronia was right.
Chronia reappeared in front of Zalroth with a smug huff. As he raised his head, Chronia's fur coat and crop top landed on Zalroth's head. Zalroth grabbed Chronia's clothing and dragged it off of his head. He glanced upward before widening his eyes slightly at seeing Chronia; she was now in her aytherkati form (the fur-covered multi-arm form) but with the major differences being Chronia matching Zalroth's height and had an even more adult appearance. Before he could say anything or even respond, Chronia grabbed Zalroth's face and smushed his cheeks.
"Relax you old fox, how is she going to get stronger if you constantly swoop in when she struggles?" Chronia asked with her soothing voice washing away Zalroth's last bit of doubt and making his tails sway slightly.
"Yeah... I know...," Zalroth muttered meekly as he stowed Chronia's clothes in his tails. Zalroth glanced down at the large plume of fur covering Chronia's chest. He raised a hand before poking a finger into the plume of fur until he made contact with her chest board once his entire hand was in the plume of fur.
"Do you have to do that every time I take on this form?" Chronia asked cheekily as she playfully winked at him and poked Zalroth's face with one of her extra hands,
"You never know," Zalroth remarked as he pulled his hand away, "So, what's with the sudden form change?". Chronia coyly waved all her back hands at Zalroth while using her normal ones to grab Zalroth's.

"Isn't it obvious?" Chronia stated as she reached one of her back arms over Zalroth and picked up Kyubi from Zalroth's tails. She placed the confused Kyubi on a chair made of shadow mana. Chronia raised a hand, placing a finger on Zalroth's nose before she booped it.
"What was that ab-" Zalroth managed to say before Chronia grabbed his torso and flung him into the stratosphere.
"Oops... didn't mean to throw him that high," Chronia said cheekily to herself. Chronia glanced over at Kyubi and told Kyubi they'd be back in a second before Chronia disappeared from a flash of teal/lime flash of light. Kyubi confusedly blinked at the spot Chronia previously was as Zalkutaro teleported next to her with a musical chime.
"I'm bac- where'd everyone go?" Zalkutaro asked while holding a large box of doughnuts. At hearing an explosion, Zalkutaro looked upwards before amusedly sighing as Kyubi waved her hands around in an attempt to grab the box of doughnuts.
Meanwhile, the sea of adoring fans continued to cheer on Kurai and her band's music while being completely oblivious to the battle happening above them and the descending shadow barrier. Being the only ones aware of the current situation, Lola and the other kids watched a constantly teleporting Zinvalia firing a torrent of cursed flame projectiles and light mana bullets at the floating/stationary Nola. With her eyes closed, Nola effortlessly danced and twirled around Zinvalia's assault as silvery qi trickled from Nola's eyes.
"Woah! She's dodging everything without even looking," Scarlett exclaimed in awe. Kusuna silently watched the ongoing fight while Snow was staring at her.
"Why isn't she attacking back?" Snow asked quietly. Kusana continued to watch the ongoing fight before eventually breaking eye contact and turning to Snow.
"If Kusana had to guess, Mother of Kusana is trying to think of a plan to get the necklace from the person in the fox mask without breaking it," Kusana stated.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"Why tho?" Scarlett asked as she continued to watch Zinvalia struggle to hit Nola with a single attack. Lola glanced away from the battle and slumped back into her kitsune tails.
"Do you remember when you first met Prima?" Kai asked while Lola poked her fingers together.
"Yeah?" Scarlett uttered in response before she widened her eyes as a lightbulb popped on in her mind, "Oh... because someone might get turned into a purple person?". Kai nodded before she hopped onto the bannister of the booth and transformed into her humanoid form.

"Alright, Kunai, let's go help Nola," Kai exclaimed, with Kunai happily yipping as she hopped onto Kai's shoulder. Kai flexed her legs, making small lightning amp sparks form around them before she leapt into the air and parkoured on the small magic barriers she created on her path to the battle. Other than Lola, the kids perplexedly looked at each other before at Kara.
"Has she always been able to do that?" Destiny asked, "I don't remember her doing it at the tournament.".
"The reasoning for Zalka's new tricks lies within the dilated realm of her essence's heavenly key," Kara stated nonchalantly as she hugged The Chronicle Codex. Destiny stared at Kara with her mouth agape before Kara turned to look at her.
"What?" Kara uttered before Destiny made multiple confused huh noises. Kara lowered her wings and defeatedly shook her head at Destiny's confusion. Lola silently stared at her palms before clenching her fists as she sensed something. She bounced to her feet and turned to the group.
"Did you sense that?" Lola asked. Kusana and Kara seriously nodded while Destiny, Scarlett, and Snow confusedly glanced around while slowly nodding with the others despite not knowing why. The group hurried to the bannister of the booth and peered around for the source of the thing the trio sensed.
"There!" Kusana exclaimed while pointing to the stage. Other than Lola and Kara, the others squinted their eyes as they struggled to see what Kusana was pointing to. Lola narrowed her eyes as she spotted the necklace around Kurai's neck.
"She's got a necklace like the person with the fox mask," Kusana stated. Kusana's statement left Scarlett, Destiny, and especially Snow shocked to the point they looked like statues with how much of her soul left her body.
"So... Miss Kurai is evil? Like evil-evil not pretend evil for her concerts?" Snow mumbled as her eyes started to water. Kusana frantically shook her head while humming the ambient song.
"Negative, Descendant of Ruiria is most certainly not," Kusana stated sternly. Snow sighed in relief as Scarlett rubbed the emerging tears from Snow's eyes. Placing a hand on her chin, Destiny closed her eyes as she thought.
"Then... why does she have it?" Destiny muttered before she shot her eyes open as a thought occurred to her, "Maybe the mask fox person snuck it into her costume!".
"I concur, it is the most likely explanation... unless she is evil in this timeline," Kara remarked. Snow and Kusana turned to Kara, Snow with worry and Kusana with annoyance on their faces.
"But not evil-evil right?" Snow whimpered. As the group continued discussing Kurai's potential of being evil-evil, Lola's expression gradually soured and soured before she turned on her heel and walked over to the booth's bannister. By the time the group seized their bickering, Kusana noticed Lola standing on the booth's bannister.
"Antie of Kusana wait!" Kusana called out before Lola pulled Dream Weaver out of her tails and jumped out of the booth. Kara, Destiny, and Snow frantically gasped while Scarlett cheered and Kusana defeatedly sighed.
"Tokui/Mr Xero catch her!" Kara and Destiny said in unison. But after a few seconds of nothing happening, the duo looked around and realised neither of their attendants were in the booth. Destiny awkwardly giggled as she rubbed the back of her head.
"Oh yeah... we sent them to go get sweets," Destiny muttered disheartenedly.
While upsided-down mid-air, Zinvalia fired off another cursed fire spear which Nola countered with a D.P portal. Zinvalia grumbled as she flipped around and landed on her feet. She stared down at Nola, who still had her eyes closed.
"Even though she's toying around, I commend you for holding out for so long, Zinvalia," Kukorama said smugly to Zinvalia using telepathy. Zinvalia mentally groaned at her boss' remark.
"I assume you accounted for this... right?" Zinvalia uttered mentally. A confident snicker reverberated through Zinvalia's mind, making her groan once again.
"Don't threat, once you activate Kurai's necklace the keither users will be incapacitated, and as for the Heaven Heroes outside the stadium... I've got something to preoccupy them with, also on your left," Kukorama stated. Before she could comprehend what Kukorama had said, Zinvalia threw her left arm up into a block before an invisible object kicked her arm and knocked her slightly off balance.
"Wha- how?" Kai blurted out as she turned visible and landed on the suspended platform.

Tainted Reflections (A Litrpg Portal Apocalypse)
Thirty-five years ago, the world ended. A small subsection of humanity was sent to a brand new world with a game-like system that 'ensured' our survival, and the rest simply disappeared. I fought my way to the upper echelon of levels, made and lost friends over the years, and it finally felt like humanity had carved itself a small foothold in this Godforsaken place. Until one final person died. Until the system reset, and took everything I'd worked so damn hard for with it. I found myself staring at a face I barely recognized as my own, and the Earth began to end once again. Updates every day Monday thru Friday.

New Game (Reborn as a Reluctant Demon Lord, Book 1)
Portal Fantasy. Isekai. A daydream of nerds everywhere, leaving behind their boring world and living in a fantasy one that is full of adventure. A daydream that became a reality for me and 1000 other Comic-Con attendees. Except for me, it was more of a nightmare. Wanting nothing more than to find a way home, and also saddled with being the world's new [Demon Lord], I found myself trapped in a gamelike world and also somehow a part of the [Hero's] party. So join me as I tell the tale of my struggles. A tale of levels and skills. A tale of cagey game admins and bugs. And a tale of our party's grand quest to defeat... Well... Me. ---- What to expect from this book? 1. A main character who is not overpowered (and instead has to go from near-useless to strong. Not just weak to strong). If you are looking for an OP [Demon Lord] who laughs at his weakling enemies... This isn't for you. 2. A meandering pace as the characters aren't told how a lot of the world works and have to figure it out themselves. (And because there are a lot of characters. Whose idea was it to have a party of 9? I blame Jake) 3. A tragedy. A lot of things are not going to go well for the protagonist. (Not that everything is tragedy all the time. There is humor, laughter, friendship, and even a mascot monster character who got way more popular than I expected. But this is not a story that will leave you uplifted and inspired after every time you read it). ---- Release Schedule and publishing information: Book 1 is complete! I will include a link to book 2 once it has been started. Feel free to give feedback, positive or negative. ---- Other notes Book 1? Yes, this says Book 1. There are probably going to be 3 books. No, the plot as you can guess is not going to be tortured to drag out all the way to book 3. That would be ridiculous. If you can guess the plot of books 2 or 3 at any point before the last chapter of book 1, please use your clairvoyant powers for something more productive. TitusGM? This story is intentionally told under the username TitusGM because the idea is that he was the one actually writing everything down what happened after it all is over. I initially planned to answer everything in character on this site, but that just really didn't work out. If you want an in character response to a comment, simply prefix it with IC: (I also try to leave that as a reminder in the author's note after each new chapter) Cover art?
