《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 1027 Arrival of the Elves Part 7

Zachariah's guy unloads over twenty crates and then the two of them leave. Once they are gone I move the crates to the roof of the tower, where I will be spending the day. Then I go back inside and work on my spell until the kids wake up.
Once the kids wake up, I put my spell papers away and spend some time with the kids. We play for a few hours before they start complaining about being hungry. So, I go wake Lin up and then we all have a huge breakfast together.
By the time we are done eating, the adventurers have gathered at the docks. Zachariah's people have kept the dock clear all night to prevent any mischief. Now that everyone else is ready, the boats leave the ship and bring the elves to the dock.
Stillwater and the others are spread out among the groups and I go to meet them before they leave the dock. I give the five of them the rods and explain how they work before letting them enter the city. After they are organized and have their guides and guards, I head back to the castle.
"Lin, are you going out with the kids again today?"
Lin says "Yes, that was the plan. Why?"
"Alright. Give me a minute, I want to create some insurance for the kids."
With Lin watching, I take out another branch and form it into another rod. Then I enchant it just like the others, except it is keyed to my kids instead of elves. When it is done I hand it to Lin and explain how to use it and what it does.
Lin says "This will protect the kids, but what about me?"
"No, it will only protect the kids. Between your magic and the choker, you don't need any more protection."

Lin says "You are finally trusting me to protect myself. That makes me happy! Don't worry, I will keep the kids safe."
"I know you will. I will be on the tower watching, just in case."
With that, Lin gathers the kids and leaves to continue exploring the city. One of Zachariah's people goes with them to take care of anything they want to buy. Meanwhile, I head to the top of the tower and set part of my mind to watching the city with my mana.
With the rest of my mind I start disenchanting and re-enchanting the weapons. It is a lot slower, especially the enchanting, but it is better than doing nothing. Unfortunately, by the time the groups return and switch out members, I have finished all the weapons.
While the groups are changing I have some lunch and then go back to watching. There are still people watching the groups, but there are less of them than yesterday. It looks like Almort managed to discourage some of them from trying anything.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
However, since there are still people watching, there is still a chance of someone trying something. That means that I need to keep an eye on things, but without more weapons to work on it is boring. I can't work on my spell or my core while only using part of my mind, so I need to find something else to do.
Eventually, my mind comes back to the branches that I used to make the rods. When I originally collected them the plan was to make new wands and bows for the elves. So, I decide to go ahead and work on that while keeping watch over the city.
I may not be able to do the enchanting with only part of my mind, but I can shape the wood. Shaping the wood for wands is easy enough, but a good bow is normally made of multiple types of wood. Since I only have the one type of wood, I decide to leave the bows until later.

When I see him later, I will ask Zachariah if he has the right types of wood for me to make some bows. As long as I make a couple for him to auction off I don't think he will have a problem with it. While I am at it I should also ask about magical stone, I will need to add some to the castle.
The spell may not be finished yet, but I can already tell that as an enchantment it will take a huge amount of mana. If adding more stone isn't enough, I still have some mana rich silver that I can add. Also, I have been thinking about expanding the castle a little, adding a full basement and maybe another floor.
Also, I want to expand the tower a bit and make Lin's library space bigger. With how many books she has been copying, her current library is going to fill up quickly. I really didn't expect to find so many books in this city, but I am glad we did.
Not only does it make Lin happy, but who knows when the knowledge could come in handy. Besides, Yui will get copies of everything so it will also help her and the peninsula's mages. So, I am thinking of making the tower a bit bigger and even adding a floor.
After all, I don't want to have to try and tell Lin that she can't have any more books. I will have to go and have a talk with Zachariah after all the groups are done for the day. For now, I focus on shaping more wands and keeping an eye on the current groups.
Just as I am starting to think the day is going to pass uneventfully, one of the rods is triggered. I instantly drop what I am working on and drop my shapeshift, but then a second rod is triggered. I launch into the air and focus on the two locations as I begin flying towards the first one.
Both groups are under attack by a large number of badly dressed and dirty humans. It looks like they are from the criminal groups, but there are a lot of them. A quick count shows me that at least a hundred are attacking each of the two groups of elves.
I am going to need a spell to target multiple opponents, but not cause massive damage to the area. Not only do I not want to kill the adventurers, but there are still civilians who haven't escaped the area. I need something extremely precise, I can't use any of my normal spells.
Even as I try to think of a spell to use, I am speeding towards the first group. The elves are fine, they are protected, but Sheraf is fighting alongside the adventurers. They have already put down a couple of dozen of the attackers, but they have taken wounds to do so.
Thinking of an accurate spell, the thing that comes to mind is Magic Missile from D&D. However, that is only meant for a single target, I need to modify it and just keep the accuracy. As I reach the sky above the first group, I pull my mana out into the air and form a large lightning bolt.

This Fog adds those unfortunate enough to be caught within it into the legions of Vacant roaming the empty streets of the city: A creature that has seemingly lost all reasoning and sanity, to wander around the streets crying into the palms of their hands as they beg for help, to be freed from their condition. This is the place that Alon, and the Gang led by his mentor Casian, shall steal the very source of what gives those in power—the rightfully ruling family, the Deramore's—their ability to live in luxury as those below in the Lower Tier struggles to survive.
