《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 31

Lily watched as Almark went into the building. She figured that she could take Lord Joy by herself. But they teamed up for good reasons so they wouldn't get killed as easily. "Hey Joy, can you give up without a fight?"
"Are you serious, little girl?" Lord Joy mocked her.
Lily looked at herself to make sure she wasn't under an illusion. Nope, she was her middle-aged self. "This little girl will kick your ass." She made an illusion knight to fight Lord Joy. Sure, she called them illusions, but they were solid. Lily could use all the elemental magic. But she mostly used water to create illusions.
The knight swung his sword down on Lord Joy. He quickly dodged and then flicked the air. Cracks formed, shattering the knight. Lily's eyes went wide. Rodger told them they had Gegol's body and took her power. "Surprised? The only reason I let Gegol keep such magic was because I already had my own."
"Well, I'll try a bit harder then." About that time, Carion landed beside Lily.
"Lily, I got this guy. Why don't you go help with the Time Jumper." Carion cracked his knuckles and smiled. "This fight is going to get very messy."
Lily backed off as soon as she saw Carion's eyes. The predatory look in them made her skin crawl. She knew it was him activating his magic. "We work in teams unless that changes in the future."
"Nah, I would like to have you around. But I might go out of control. There is enough blood in that building for me to lose myself. I'll try not to use too much. But after what I saw on the way down and the many different types of magic in this man's body. I may need to go all out." Carion gave her a small smile. "Plus, it's been quite some time since I've got a workout."
"Alright, then I'll leave Joy to you then." Lily took off toward the building, not looking back.
"I see you didn't run away. Man, do you think you can beat me suddenly?" Carion was hoping to chase Lord Joy and trap him.
"Yeah, I had planned on getting out of here. But after seeing what she could do. You guys must be all talk." Lord Joy punched toward Carion. A blood mist formed around his body, and he moved out of the way.
"My magic is unique. I can make my blood move faster, making my body move easier. Problem is when I use my own blood. I can't go into a blood rage. Not enough, you see. I'd just die if I tried. So, the more people I kill, the stronger I get. But thanks to your little blood bank inside the building. I should have more than enough to fight for hours at full strength." Carion pulled at the blood in the building, and it seeped out of the windows. The mist of blood got so thick it became black.
"As if I'd wait for you to get ready." Lord Joy swung his hand, and the sky and ground fractured. Then spikes shot up from the ground. The light from the sun intensified, shooting down on Carion.

After the dust settled, Carion stood broken and battered. His skin was peeling in places, and even an arm was missing. Spikes had pierced him all over. He broke out in laughter. "Man, it has been so long since I've felt pain." His skin regrew at a rapid rate. The arm that had been missing regrew. He took a few steps forward, breaking all of the spikes.
"What the hell are you?" Lord Joy took a step back.
Carion smiled, disappeared, and reappeared next to Lord Joy. "Now, let's see how tough you are." His voice came out deep and gravely. When Lord Joy turned to hit him, Carion reappeared back in his original spot. "It's not looking too good for you." He lifted his arm, holding Lord Joy's arm. The arm's blood seeped out and mixed with the mist around Carion. He frowned when he saw Lord Joy's arm grow back almost instantly. "Wow, I can't even regrow a limb that fast."
Lord Joy flexed his new hand. He teleported behind Carion and punched the air behind him. Carion's skin cracked along with the ground and buildings around him. He turned on Lord Joy, smiling. His skin cracked and bled. But it didn't stop Carion from grabbing Lord Joy and ramming his head into the ground. There was an explosion of dirt as a small crater formed. He picked up Lord Joy by the hair to face him. Carion smiled and threw Lord Joy. The man went through several buildings.
Lord Joy got to his feet, his body fixing quickly. He looked over to where he had gone through the buildings. Carion slowly walked towards him, swaying back and forth. His fingernails had grown out into sharp claws. When he looked at Lord Joy, his pupils had gone red. Carion looked like a demon. A large piece of concrete fell from the building onto Carion. But before it could even get close, it evaporated in the blood mist.
The building around Carion vaporized as a beam of light struck the building, along with the ones on either side. Once the light show was done, only Carion stood amongst the now circle of dirt in town. His flesh had burned away to bones in some places. Yet his body still could be seen repairing itself. Lord Joy decided his best bet was to run away at this point. He teleported to a roof as far as he could reach out. Then, the buildings between him and Carion exploded, and Carion stood before him again.
Carion raised a hand and waved his finger. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. You can't get away from me that easy." When he moved, it was a blur to Lord Joy. But he could just make it out. Even being able to see Carion wasn't enough. Carion's arm still went through his chest, holding Lord Joy's heart. It didn't even slow Lord Joy down. He leaped back to another building. Then the one Carion stood on crumbled, turning into spikes and making a meat grinder. 'Interesting, so even pulling out his heart won't stop him.' He thought as he fell into the now meat grinder.
Lord Joy did not stop to think as he took off as fast as possible. But he couldn't help but turn to look back at the loud growl that shouted out. He paled when he saw the colossal beast made of blood mist. A giant hand was descending on him as he tried to get away. Lord Joy got his teleport off as the hand landed on the building. He looked back in horror as the twenty-story building got crushed. Debris from the explosion rocketed everywhere. One piece even managed to clip Lord Joy, nearly ripping off a leg.

After Lord Joy returned to his feet, he looked at the giant beast. It was currently rampaging in the town. "This must be what he meant by losing control. At least it looks like I can walk away from this monster." Lord Joy noticed it had gone silent and looked back at the monster. He could make out Carion inside of the giant beast. But that isn't what caught his attention. The head of the blood mist monster was staring right at him.
"Oh, Joy, did you think I'd lose control long enough to run away." Carion grabbed his chest and laughed, which looked odd as the beast did the same. "You would be right if we hadn't evacuated the town. Now let's play."
Lord Joy didn't wait for Carion to make a move. The buildings around Carion shattered, the ground liquifying. Then, once Carion lost his footing, bright light struck down on him. Lord Joy didn't stop there, and the area fractured as well. The debris around the place began to spin around Carion and shoot at him. Then, the world seemed to go dark. When Lord Joy looked up, he went pale. Carion was above him now, and the look on his face would make anyone run away, mostly because he looked to be in pieces. His bones stuck out in several places.
The heels of Carion's feet struck Lord Joy, and he felt every floor of the skyscraper as he went through the building. He teleported away when he could to find his body battered and broken. With his ability to regenerate his body, he was back up in seconds. When he got to his feet to make another attempt to run away, but when he looked up, there was a giant fist coming down on him. The building shattered as Lord Joy was hammered into the ground. Carion kept on punching him until he was paste on the ground.
Lord Joy only took moments to become one piece again. He stood and looked up at Carion. "You're shrinking. How much longer can you keep this up?"
Carion had shrunk down to a third of his size. "You're right, and you're quite something the way you regenerate."
"I cannot be killed. Kind of like you." Lord Joy smiled.
"Nah, everyone can be killed." The blood beast's body dissolved into a ball. It spun in spot, and after a few seconds, it glowed red with energy. "If the head being crushed isn't enough. Then I'll vaporize you." He got slightly distracted as the building that the others were at broke. The upper levels looked to fall a full floor. But everything must have been fine. There was a wall of fire around the roof. It hadn't been the first wall of fire he had seen.
Lord Joy quickly teleported away, using the distraction, to find Carion looking in his direction. "He can follow my scent." It occurred to Lord Joy just then that Carion had been following him by the scent of his blood. With no one else around, it would be easy for him. Lord Joy watched as the red-glowing orb headed his way. He decided to hit the mass of energy before it got to him. When the air cracked on the energy, it exploded outwards. Lord Joy noticed that Carion had a surprised look on his face and turned to run.
Lord Joy turned to run as well. But to his horror, as he turned, the energy hit his hand. A pain that could not be described went through his body. He screamed as the energy ate away at his body. It finally reached his head and burned away every cell in his body.
Carion ran away as fast as he could from the energy. He was glad he had not been as close as Lord Joy. But his left arm had not fully regenerated, and it fell off into the energy. When he stopped to look back, there was a four-hundred-foot crater in the ground. The buildings that stood around the crater had chunks ripped out of them. One building couldn't stay upright and fell into the hole. He looked at his now missing arm and kicked a rock on the ground into the crater. "Damn it, you stupid son of a bitch." He looked over to where Lord Joy had been killed. "You know how long it takes to regrow an arm?" Carion used the last of the blood mist he had to repair his body and regenerate his arm to its elbow.
"I see you survived." Carion looked up to find Jefferson floating down to him.
"Barely, that guy was almost invincible. How much longer have we got before Filixerixix shows up?" Carion asked, then froze as Jefferson's mask fell to the ground. His face was as pale as a ghost.
Jefferson fully landed and reached out a hand. "Make sure to give this to Jetsford." He put the cracked soul in Carion's hand. Then his suit fell to pieces, showing a broken and bloody body. "I think." Jefferson fell to his knees. "I'm too old for this crap."
Carion dove to catch Jefferson. "Hey, old man. Don't you dare die on me?"
"Sorry to leave you all alone." Jefferson reached up and grabbed Carion's shoulder. "Life can be cruel. The best we all can do is keep walking forward. Now finish what we have started."
Carion watched as the life left Jefferson's eye. He closed them and got to his feet. Carion was now the last of them left in the future. Everyone that he had held dear to him was now gone. "I'll make sure your death wasn't in vain." Carion looked up at the sky, which had white flames spreading as far as he could see.
