《Mortem Comedenti(Death Eater)》Chapter 65: Soulfire(VIII)

Kenan didn’t bother to gather up another distraction. Using Qi, he sprang forward, aiming for the wyverns back. Mid-air and just over the creature's head, it tried to snap at Noctis. The goliath brothers thought for sure Noctis was about to meet the jaws of death in a swift motion. You can’t change direction with nothing to push against.
Time crawled. Upside down, he brought his sword out. As soon as the tip of his blade started to travel through the entrance of the Wyverns giant maw, a ball of Soulfire exploded and engulfed the overgrown lizard's head. It propelled Noctis, allowing him to just arc over.
The other three took the beast's distraction to advantage. Dion, with fire and mana infused claws, began to eviscerate the wyverns' side. Oz caused larger lacerations, followed by spreading electrical burns. His brother continuously smashed at the creatures tail, breaking it in multiple places.
Noctis cut vines, and sheathed his sword. He caught the two struggling people in his arms and escaped swiftly away. After confirming they could run for themselves, he sat them down about thirty yards away and made his way back.
The scene when he got back made him panic and think rapidly. The wyvern recoiled from the onslaught of heavy and rapid attacks. It’s body smashing into even more buildings. At this point, all of its destruction had made a large clearing. As the three pressed further, the creature leaped in the air, and with a powerful gust of its wings, sent them all back. It tried its best to gain more altitude, but with the amount of injuries it had sustained, it was struggling. Yet, not for a moment did Kenan think that the avian could lift off once more.
So, he climbed up onto a building. Readied himself with Qi and crunched his entire body. He was in the air the next moment, not giving himself enough time to rethink his actions. Noctis felt that Dion wanted to switch places, but denied the motion. Instead, he sent a different command. The dirus disagreed with Kenan’s action but followed the instructions nonetheless.

Landing on the scaly back, the wyvern dipped momentarily, but continued to ascend. Each flap of wings brought them yards further from the ground. With a great amount of turbulence, Kenan cut the last vine and caught the mother.
[Not again, not today.]
The previous lightless and hope deprived women started to cry in his arms. She said things, but Kenan couldn’t quite understand, nor did he have the time to properly comprehend what the message was. It didn’t matter anyway, not at the moment. “Trust me.” He said simply. Then with his might, threw the women off.
Her descent was followed by a scream. Looking over, Kenan saw a black and white blur impede her path and she was gone. Dion caught her in his mouth. While he more than likely broke skin and caused some damage, it was better than falling to death or being digested by an oversized lizard.
Kenan was about fifty yards above the ground, and the distance was growing. As he started to get higher, he could tell most people had safely evacuated the city. The majority of citizens hugged the outside wall. They didn’t dare go inside the gates, but didn’t want to cross the sea of shriveled, dead monsters. There was an area designated at each gate for injuries, some being warriors, while the majority chunk of them were citizens with acid burns, crushed body parts, or large lacerations and punctures.
Noctis took in information rapidly, and tried to come to the best conclusion of the situation. Eventually, after sensing Dion's heavy disapproval of his actions, he shrugged his shoulders. "Fuck it." He half climbed his way to the near vertical Wyverns left wing. Kenan brought Nonesthic into his sword, lit it with a thousand white dots. Then, he drove it into the shoulder of the beast. He slid the blade’s point beneath the muscles, then pulled up. Severing most of the controlling and holding tendons for the wing.

Immediately the results were felt. The wyvern screeched. The yell was incredibly loud, deafening. To the point it caused heavy disorientation to Kenan, and caused many on the ground to shield their ears. It shuddered and the wing folded. Quickly Kenan stuck his blade in another spot full of corded muscle and prepared his qi.
For a few seconds, the draconian somehow managed to keep afloat and gild. However, the semi flight soon devolved into a quick spiraling descent. Heavy force applied to Kenan and he pushed power into his arms and held on. The rest of his body flailed into the wind. The wyvern kept screeching, and tried to still fly with its other unhindered wing, but failed to do so.
Kenan felt a large impact, so much force that it knocked the air out of his lungs, made his bones rattle and the once focused pain flowered all over his body. The agony so strong it blew passed the dullness of qi. Blood erupted from his mouth, but his strength stood vigilant. Noctis’ knuckle formed an even greater degree of white. Another impact, and another. More came.
They wyvern had hit the top of a building, and due to its mass and momentum, it continued through. Demolishing multiple structures with a gradual decline. Each collision inflicted a large amount of damage onto the beast.
The smashing of buildings stopped momentarily and was replaced with sudden vibration. A small impact came and a lurch forward. They had stopped.
Somewhere along the line, Kenan had closed his eyes and kept his head down in an effort of focus and keeping damage to a minimum. He opened his eyes, or tried. Then he tried once more. It took multiple moments to realize that he simply couldn’t see. Panic washed over him and mad thoughts rushed into his brain. Quickly he balled the emotion up and placed it away. That wouldn’t help him. Not now.
The beast below him stirred as he tried to think of his next move. His body was battered and movement came wrong. Something inside of him was damaged, time was running out, and he would be in deep trouble if he didn’t somehow end this soon.
An odd, cold wind blew at him.

This story was previously known as "The Awakening".~*~"One... two... three... one... two... three... a million... is that number right?" A figure less voice echoed."Hello? Who's there?" Caliope asked, focusing on that voice."One... two... who? A million... a billion... no, it's more... a legion..."Silence. She had seen too many horror movies and heard too many stories about that single word to overpass its meaning. The voice went quiet, yet she was still unable to see where it came from.
