"Stop him!" The king shouted for the guards while being pressed under his feet, he looked down on the futilely struggling human with disgust, the thing he so longed for was finally within his reach.
The kobold squatted down in front of the despairing man, muttering absentmindedly, "Finally, it's been a long time coming." His hands grasped the crown on the king's head, hooking it up with his claws as the royal guards looked on in shock, unable to break out of his magic.

The kobold scholar ignored his ramblings and slowly placed the crown atop his head, it fastened around his head, not too tight nor loose, emitting a large wave of magic across the throne room as it did.

The palace shook with a rumbling roar, the bound royal guards turned into red mist that quickly scattered away, "What did you do?!" The human gasped in disbelief, he looked down at his hands as they started to melt and turn into dust. Leaving a heavy scent of blood in the air.

The former king laid prone on the floor, covered in red mist, he coughed weakly, blood flowed down the corner of his mouth. Closing his eyes filled with sorrow and hopelessness, as everything gradually darkened. His awareness drifted away, "I regret everything."
