First and foremost, I'm sorry to anyone enjoying the story, but honestly, I can't keep writing New Eden Online like this.

NEO is the first time I ever tried writing a comprehensive story and my inexperience is slowly making things unbearable. It might not be noticeable to you guys, just an occasional mistake her or there, but I'm not talking about minor continuity or spelling errors. I'm talking about narrative choices that seem fine at the time, only to become incredibly limiting as the story goes on.

I can't just fix it, the chapter is already posted and I can't just break the rules that I established, no matter how bad they seem in retrospect. I tried to ignore it, to just keep writing but no matter how hard I try I just keep making the same mistakes and further limiting myself. I started writing NEO thinking that having it be so open-ended and in a virtual world that didn't need backstory would make it easier, but looking at it now it just resulted in me writing a story without a real plot. I've been trying to fix that but every time I try it just doesn't make sense for the characters to do it.

To that end, I'm taking a break. Not from writing entirely but from NEO. I'm going to try starting a new story, one that's smaller in scale with a defined beginning, middle, and end so that I can try to have a better grasp on things going forward. One day I hope to return to NEO, although that would probably come with massive edits and maybe even starting over entirely.

If anyone has questions about the new story or what few things I did have planned for NEO, feel free to ask them. Hard to call them spoilers if I'm probably going to change them later on.

Again, I want to apologize to anyone who was genuinely enjoying my story. Just knowing that you people exist has given me such a confidence boost and I'm grateful for those who keep coming back for more. Hopefully, you'll enjoy my next story and hopefully, it will be of the quality you deserve.

I plan to start posting the new story at the start of January, so please check back around then.
