《White Mage in Another World [Redux]》Report to Arch Mage White - Mizquin

I hope to have found you in good health, my lady Arch Mage White. I reach out to you today in order to deliver the report you requested via one "Garret Esther," specifically on the topic of the "Mizquin" species. My birth name on my human side is "Adrian Jiliti," and through my Mizquin side, I am known as "Long Line." I am a member of the chimera race between Humanity and Mizquini, also known as a "Scyllian." I will be the one to inform you about the Mizquini people in accordance with your request. The name I have taken as a Scyllian is "Loant."

The first, and perhaps most often asked, question surrounding the Mizquin revolves around their nature and people, following closely by the "binding" ritual. But we'll begin with their nature.

The Mizquin are a race of sentient, water-composed beings. They can take on a vast array of shapes and sizes. I personally know a few that range from as small as a field mouse to as large as a building. Generally speaking, they will remain as an amorphous blob when not doing anything in particular. However, if they require any kind of dexterity, they will take on a shape and design that befits their task. I have personally witnessed them take shapes similar to humans, dogs, cats, birds, and on occasion, even creatures that I can't rightly identify.

They are composed of pure elemental water, but do not confuse that for *being* an elemental. They are categorically unrelated to water elementals as summoned through Invocation magic but maintain a fair number of similar qualities. The most prevalent among them is that their form is maintained through their own simulacra of the soul, something the Mizquin refer to as their "core." If damaged sufficiently, they will suffer, lose memories and knowledge, and very often decompose into nothing but water. These cores are physically composed of a composite between salt water and a substance similar to, but not the same as, amniotic fluid.

They have no desire for food, and unsurprisingly no need for water. They lack a need for shelter as well, and due to being made of water and mana alone, they have no natural predators. Because of this nature, they lack much in the way of determination or willpower to do much at all. The most a Mizquin by themselves will accomplish at any given time is to exist plainly, little more interesting to concern yourself with than water.

That is not to say that they are uninteresting, but rather, they lack a need to do much without prompting. Mizquin are well known for leaving their birthing ponds and traveling the world. A sense of wanderlust pervades the species at large. This results in even the most remote of locations being likely to contain a Mizquin or two on occasion should their be a body of water nearby.

They are also quite adventurous when given the right motivation, being just as capable as humans or beastmen to interact with the physical world. However, this usually requires the provocation of another being to make it happen; they themselves are happy to find a nice place to sit down and not move for several decades.

In the most extreme cases, these "relations" can elevate to a topic I'll now discuss. You may have heard of a certain "ritual" that takes place between "flesh" races and Mizquin. This is known under a few different names depending on the Mizquin involved, but the generally accepted name, as per the capital's documentation, is the "Scyllian Binding." I won't get into the details because, as I myself am a Scyllian, I must admit that the ritual is a rather personal affair. I will say, however, that the ritual concludes with the two beings "combining" into one. Aspects of the personality of both participants are brought forward into the new being, and as such, the new being views themselves as a wholly different entity from the two that came before. I personally maintain memories of both my constituent parts, but my human side maintains a strong lead within me.

There is one last detail that I wish to discuss before concluding this. Despite being acceptable members of Legorian Society, legally speaking, Scyllians are considered "Abhuman." As such, while we don't strictly suffer from the same discrimination that other abhuman species endure, we don't enjoy the full rights of fully human individuals do. This rarely becomes an issue for us as we are, in appearance, almost indistinguishable from baseline humanity. It is still to be understood that, by legal definition, we are not the same.

With that, I believe that the topic of the Mizquin people has been fairly and concisely communicated. I wish to impress upon you my infinite gratitude for reaching out to me, whether directly or otherwise, my lady. Forgive my saying, but I have heard a number of things about you since your inauguration, but to know that you are a fair student of culture and history to inquire on the non-human species of Legoria greatly eases my mind. If you ever find yourself in the Greto Viel, I would be more than willing to provide you accommodations and guidance. Should you so need.

Yours truly, Loant.
