《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 130.5

Whilst he sat atop a large hook-shaped bone, Zalroth spun his lightning phantom mana sword by its blade on his fingertip. Zalroth sighed and tossed the sword away before it bursted apart mid-air. Zalroth glanced up as the looming shadow crept away, and he watched as an ensnaring red magic crest coiled around the headless crab heathian and converted its body into red and orange sand.
"For shame," Zalroth uttered as he pushed himself off the bone and landed on a large floating cyan circular magic barrier.
"Alright, you can come out now," Zalroth said mentally. Shortly after he mentally spoke, Zalroth's kitsune tails rustled for a bit before Kusana (while a half-awake Snow piggybacked on her back) floated out from Zalroth's tails. The others climbed out of Zalroth's kitsune tails and onto Zalroth's magic barrier while Kusana rummaged through her pockets until she found her flyer.
"Grandma of Kusana, Kusana and Snow would like to go to this," Kusana said as she handed Chronia the Kuraikall Eruption flyer she and Snow got in Talkia. Chronia held her turned-off handheld console to the side and dropped it into Zalroth's tails. Chronia glanced at the flyer as she led on Zalroth's tails.
"Should have seen this coming... is what I would say if I didn't already," Chronia remarked as she handed the flyer back to Kusana.
"So... are we allowed to go?" Snow whispered.
"Don't you two worry your little heads. I already asked Minia to take you two when the time comes," Chronia stated. The duo happily clapped and thanked Chronia causing Chronia to rub her cheek.
"Just make sure to stay by Minia at all times... especially when things get hectic, promise?" Chronia requested. The two nodded and promised they wouldn't lose physical contact with Minia.

Scarlett stared through the magic barrier platform with her face pressed against it as she watched the crab Heathian crumbling into sand. Scarlett's eyes sparkled, and she swung her head up to look at Zalroth.
"Mr Zalroth, what's happening to the purple crab?" Scarlett asked as she frantically pointed at the remnants of the crab heathian.
"It's just one of the applications for my unique Azure Ability," Zalroth stated nonchalantly. The sparkles in Scarlett's eyes skyrocketed in intensity before she rushed over to Zalroth and grabbed one of his kitsune tails.
"What's that mean?" Scarlett asked as she climbed onto Zalroth's tails and sat next to Chronia. Zalroth placed a hand on his chin and hummed a tune.
"Do you wanna know how my azure ability itself works or just what I did in particular to the... purple crab?" Zalroth asked. Scarlett held her mouth slightly agape as she processed what option to choose.
"Will the explanation hurt my head again?" Scarlett uttered worriedly.
"Not if I do it for him," Chronia remarked snarkily. Zalroth deflatedly chuckled, and the kids giggled at Zalroth's reaction.
"I'm not that bad at explaining things.".
"Only if you have prep time," Chronia said jokingly. Zalroth sighed and moved his tails in a way to make Chronia sink halfway into them with her legs sticking out.
"I'll tell you tomorrow during my next lesson," Zalroth stated while Chronia frantically attempted to clamber free from Zalroth's tails but to no avail as the tails continued to squirm.
"So what made you lot travel through the pocket tail dimension, Sophia?" Zalroth asked.
"Well, Jokel was getting a form of homesickness and Iris... you know, for Iris reasons," Sophia stated. Zalroth nodded and reached into his kitsune tails before he pulled out his Crescent Moon Staff. Zalroth raised his free hand in front of him and used it to measure the distance between himself and the flying airship carrier. Zalroth pulled his arm back before hurling the Crescent Moon Staff like a missile towards the flying airship carrier.

Meanwhile, Zalkutaro (in his humanoid form without his kitsune features showing) strolled on the runway of the flying airship carrier as he read a hardback leather-bound academic book.
"Why can't he have to be so lazy?" Zalkutaro complained as he raised his free hand and caught the hurtling Crescent Moon Staff. Zalkutaro sighed and gently placed it in front of him before he stepped backwards. The space around the Crescent Moon Staff distorted slightly before the distortion snapped back to place as Zalroth warped next to the staff and grabbed it while everyone sat on his kitsune tails.
"Couldn't you have just... flown us back or something?" Ruby mumbled in a disoriented state before she flopped back on Zalroth's kitsune tails. Zalroth and Zalkutaro glanced at the dazed Ruby before they looked at each other.
"You could've, you know," Zalkutaro remarked, causing Zalroth to exhale amusedly through his nose.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
