《Mana-Script》Chapter 48

That horrid smell clung to the air like a stain on a shirt. That burning smell.
Jack’s body lay there limp, pulse non existent. No breaths. No movement. No contractions. He had just stopped.
Jolt stood over her kill, a proud hunter. She barely took a moment to pause before running toward the others on the opposite side of the fountain. AJ, slack jawed, could not respond in time to catch up. Nerissa and Johnathan had to deal with Ex and the incoming Jolt.
Lunging towards Johnny, Jolt charged electricity into her arms. Ex was out of breath and couldn’t move as fast as they would have liked. They had moved in the direction of Nerissa. Yet they would not make it in time.
Allowing all matter, all hits, and becoming translucent allowed Jolt to realise her mistake. Had she paid more attention to her partner’s fight she would have known Johnny can avoid being hit. Had she not used a killing blow on Jack she would have had enough electricity to keep up a constant charge in her whole body.
Though, no precaution could have saved her from her biggest mistake: hurting someone Nerissa was warning up to.
As Johnny’s body became see through the cloud of smoke that billowed behind Nerissa became obvious. It had plumed by itself, reacting to the outpouring of emotion of seeing a comrade fall and realising that could happen to any of her friends that lived in the building behind her.
Jolt folded like an omelette around the fist which swiftly entered her abdomen. Twisting as it cracked two ribs. The follow through sent Jolt flying.
AJ’s fighting had been utilising horse stance techniques so far and thus had been limited to strong punches that acted like beam attacks. But he had trained in Shaolin Kung Fu not just one stance for his benefit. Whilst not a master of everything he knew enough to get the job done.
As Jolt flew AJ intercepted her. He was stood in the fountain. Using a technique from Shuai Jiao, a martial art form of wrestling similar to Judo.
With an almighty step and utilising his opponents momentum AJ grabbed Jolt and performed a shoulder throw slamming her into the fountain. Water flew all around them.

As if a banshee had been unleashed on the earth a shriek echoed out of Jolt’s mouth. Her back in a level of pain she could only imagine before this. Electricity discharged reflexively, draining everything she had straight into the water below and being soaked up into AJ.
Though a victory was gained a loss occurred as AJ turned round to see Ex had caught up to Nerissa and managed to get a draining touch on her, sapping her strength.
Nerissa collapsed to the floor like a cinder block.
Away from the constantly changing circumstances of outside were Jude, Damian, and Might.
The boys had manoeuvred their assailant into a corridor that Rin wasn’t, leaving a healthy trial of property damage along the way.
With the way each floor was set up the boys could go separate ways to try and confuse Might, especially as his bulky frame made him move slower through the tight corridors.
Yet, he still managed to catch one of them. Being held by his t-shirt there wasn’t much Damian could do, except brace himself. As he did so the titan that held onto him slammed Damian’s body into the floor below. It hurt but it wasn’t too bad. Then he was lifted again.
“Times three.” Damian was slammed and lifted again. This time the room shook.
“Times four.” The second command by Might. The lightning that had initially come from his body exploded once more. His muscles expanded and stretched. And then he threw Damian down once more.
The boy’s body broke the ground beneath. The floor bad buckled and Damian entered the space between floors. Each ceiling was filled with panels and then there was a gap for the wires and plumbing, well there was before Damian’s momentum broke them.
His shirt had clung to Might’s fist, causing a huge rip in the chest.
Damian lay unconscious on the ground below. Blood leaking from his back and mouth.
Might thought he had chance to catch his breath but instead he was pushed forward, a foot planting into his back. Wincing in pain he caught himself from falling into the hole he had made. He turned around to see Jude stood behind him.

“You are more sensitive when you upgrade your level.” He said with a smirk, as if proving a theory. This only proceeded to anger Might who in return lunged towards Jude.
He was fast, way too fast. It took everything for Jude to dodge, the use of his explosive flames to push himself down the corridor, slamming into a door frame. He caught his back on the door handle, the pain shot through him and winded him. But there was no time, Might was once again on the offensive.
This time Jude thrust himself downwards under a fist. The hook planted itself into the wall. Before his attacker’s brain had time to focus on the pain of breaking the wall he threw a monstrous kick towards Jude who dived out of the way. They were at a right angle in the hallway and Jude sprinted down the new direction. Whereas Might had his fist in a wall and a door round his foot.
The wall broke easier the door however came off the frame and he had to spend time breaking it off.
Might had the speed advantage. At Times four he could have a sub nine seconds hundred metres. But with the disadvantages of not knowing the terrain he was at a disadvantage. The sofa easiest to hide under, the fridge that had just enough of a gap the squeeze behind, or the missing tiles in the ceiling.
Jude was cautious; each tile was extremely brittle and if he didn’t spread his weight he would fall through.
Each shuffle was conscious. Resting his stomach on the harsh plastic beams that ran between each panel. By lifting just one slightly the dark crawl space was flooded with a dim light. He could see Might in the kitchen below looking for the boy.
But then, he turned towards the living room. The first thing he did was pick up one of the four sofas. “Not the sofa” Jude thought before trying to leave quickly and quietly. Though as he shifted his weight to his knees the panel below them broke under his weight and he fell to the laminated flooring of the kitchen.
He managed to catch himself and land on his feet but his knees took a lot of the strain. And the sound it made immediately alerted his hunter.
Might, who was currently holding a sofa over his head, turned to look at Jude. Jude looked up, still wincing, “Any chance you could put that down?” The young man asked sincerely. Might responded and obliged the request by hurling the piece of sofa at him.
Barely avoiding it, Jude was in trouble. The sofa was a smokescreen and Might was there. Whilst he was angry he remembered he was ordered to not kill the kids if he could help it. So instead of punching Jude he flicked him in the shoulder.
It felt like a rubber bullet or a paintball. The pan was concentrated. He fell back onto his ass and then he was a sitting duck. Each flick Might increased his multiplier. Within six he was up to ten times the strength he usually had. At this point he could easily lift multiple tons, and his flicks were causing nausea inducing pain.
Jude was clinging onto confidence but the pain was blurring his vision. And as he was waning he remembered the scream he had heard from outside. Whilst it meant his friends were likely okay it did give him an idea; as Might leaned in for his Times eleven flick, one that would be a have shattered whatever bone he would impact, Jude screamed as loud as he could.
Most people are uncomfortable when they hear a loud noise. Most people aren’t eleven times more sensitive to sound at the moment the scream happens.
It completely disoriented Might and as Jude tried to flee, the pain overtook him and his body refused to move. He just couldn’t.
Damian lay on the floor below his consciousness had slipped and he was elsewhere. He could hear a small dripping, possibly a tap that had not been turned FF fully. “So, we finally meet Damian.” An angelic voice said.
