***The Protagonist & His Horde***
The Master, The Root of All Evil
The protagonist. He was thrusted into the events of the story after he awakened in the middle of the woods..
His true name is unknown, with little revealed about this past outside the fact he is from our modern world.
His followers merely referred to him as “The Master”. His power also refers to him as “The Root of All Evil”
He has light skin, a thin nose, and short hair. Unbeknown to him, his speech is unpleasant to hear by natives, just as is the gaze of his dark eyes. He also gives out an equally unpleasant aura.
His power, despite operating on terms of skills and levels, doesn’t give him any direct-use abilities, and instead continuously spawns monsters up to a certain limit. Monsters that die are usually respawned, with a penalty for the repeated resurrections.
Universally, monsters come as all-female anthropomorphic animals.
Monsters
Monsters are the manifestation of protagonist power, all sapient with defined personalities, but unquestionable devotion to The Master.
Universally, monsters come as all-female anthropomorphic animals.
They hate humans and will attempt to kill any human unless told otherwise, and are often very aggressive. They are, however, extremely protective of “Master” and wouldn’t hesitate to use themselves as the living shields to protect him from harm. Considering their continuous respawning, death is entirely meaningless to them. They can be wounded and bleed, but upon their death, their bodies are claimed by the red mist to be reconstituted alive and healthy
While all monsters have a human level of intelligence, the normal variant doesn’t speak, except chanting “For Master!” or “Master!”. Tone of their voice is very girlish.
The Alphas are the unique monsters that work as commanders of sorts. They speak, are larger and stronger than the ordinary versions of their kind, and look like older, more mature versions of their respective kinds. They can communicate without words with their respective kin, even over large distances. There is only one Alpha per one type of monster.
The Purifiers are anthropomorphic foxes tied with Fire Element with the fire based abilities. Associated skill is called “Scorched Earth”
The Eviscerators are anthropomorphic wolves, or canines, often referred to werewolves within the story. Their power is based on invisibility. Associated skill is called “Slayer of Men”
The Defilers are anthropomorphic rats tied with element life. They can drain life energy and use it to either heal or provide sustenance to other monsters and The Master, though it will kill everything else within the area of effect. Associated skill is called “Great Devourer”

The Corruptors are anthropomorphic lizards tied with element wood. They can control plants with their power, accelerating the growth and such, but plants will end up mutated. Mutated plants drained by Defilers disintegrate, but the positive effect on friendly monsters increases. Associated skill is called “Green Hell”
Tama, The Purifier Alpha
Tama, like all Purifiers, is an anthropomorphic fox, fur-covered body with feminine curves standing on digitigrade legs. She had grasping fingers with sharp claws. Her fur is mostly red-ish in colouring, with the yellow highlight of her head and fluffy collar, as well as fluffy tail. She has red hair. Her eyes are actually yellow. Her fur can have a gleaming, sparkling effect as the aftereffect of her casting.
Once she got her hands on clothing, she wears the stolen priestess outfit.
Tama is very flirty and often talks in a sultry tone.
Her element is Fire, and has variety of fire based attacks.

Miwah, The Eviscerator Alpha
Miwah, like all Eviscerators, is an anthropomorphic black wolf. Her eyes are noticeably blue.
She is taller than the protagonist, or other monsters, with more defined musculature under the unnaturally gleaming dark fur, with a hulky posture, standing on her digitigrade legs. Her tail is long and bushy. Compared to Tama, her snout was longer, her ears shorter, her mane was richer with a more blood-like colour, and even the feminine curves were much more pronounced. She is often described as a werewolf.
Miwah is very protective (even more than other monsters which already use their own bodies to shield the Master).
Miwah element isn’t specified, though like all Eviscerators, she can become invisible at will.
She wears looted scaled armour.

Narita, The Defiler Alpha
Narita, like all Defilers, is an anthropomorphic rat. She has a rodent-like appearance with grey-brown fur, large ears, a typically shaped snout, and quite noticeable red eyes. Like all monsters, she has feminine shape, albeit more petite than others. She is also shorter. Just like other monsters, her legs are digitigrade. Her tail is long and bare, as is typical for rats. Both hands and legs have sharp claws.
Narita is the least affectionate to the monsters, though seems quite loyal. Usually acts like a silent guard.
Her element is Life, and her power acts like Life Drain, killing enemies and healing allies.
Narita wears the salvaged scale armour and uses Guandao polearm.

Mai, The Corruptor Alpha
Mai, like all Corruptors, is an anthropomorphic reptile, described as either a lizard or even a dinosaur. She had horns curving backwards and the colourful feathers where the human would have hair. Her snout at least partially resembles a beak. Both hands and legs have grasping talons, and her reptilian tail ends with plumes of feathers. Despite not being technically mammal, and they cover her body with scales, her torso has the typical feminine features complete with breasts.

Mai seems extremely disgusted by humans considering them slimy and revolting, though like any other monsters, doesn’t think of the protagonist as human.
Mai element is Wood, and has power over plants, often twisting and mutating them.

Helmy, The Named Purifier
Helmy is the normal / small version of Purifier, first of normal rank-and-file Purifier the protagonist named. Like the smaller, cuter version of Tama, she is essentially a red petite sized red anthropomorphic fox.
She got her name because she insisted on wearing the stolen helmet (hence “Helmy”), and was first that wore stolen armour or used a sword despite the sword being redundant with her fire attacks. Named monsters seem to develop even more specific personalities
Helmy is notably prone to outbursts of rage, vengeful and aggressive even for Purifier standards.

Hae Narim, the Princess
Native human / alive.
Hae Narim (first name Narim) is the princess of Hanulbeol-guk, Hanulbeol-guk being the name of the country where the story takes place. Her official title is Crown Princess Cheonchong of Hanulbeol-guk. Cheonchong is the title essentially given to be the equivalent of the Chosen One, blessed by the Heavens, though her country's own noblemen don’t fully believe in it considering it nothing more than the fancy title to impress the clergy.
The invaders from the neighbouring nation, referred to within the story as Jin, nearly overran her kingdom. With the war nearly lost, and with the kingdom's capital under siege, she used the ritual of the ancient scroll to summon the protagonist, believing it would call on the legendary hero. She either misunderstood the ritual or performed it incorrectly, resulting in the current situation.
Narim is considered a woman of unparalleled beauty, with her appearance is believed to be a part of the blessing of the Gods. Ritual she cast had killed other casters before, but merely tired her, and her presence upsets the protagonist and his monsters, giving some credibility to the claim she is indeed the Chosen One.
Gam Youngjae, the Landlord
Native human / Alive.
Gam Youngjae (first name Youngjae) is the Viceroy (appointed governor) of the province of Surao. He is a member of the local gentry that had weaselled himself into king’s favour, being given unparalleled concession in lands and the title resulting in his current position. His career, however, ended when Jin invaded the kingdom. Even though he takes an active role in crushing bandits and deserters, he has refused to help in the war, and doesn't commit to either side circumventing orders given to him on technicality. His plan is to align himself with whoever wins the outgoing war.
Viceroy Gam isn’t a good tactician (even by his own admission) and prefers to simply outlive those who fight in the war by holding back on his land, stockpiling resources.
Appearance of the protagonist and his monsters ruined all these plans.
He refused to contact the clergy regarding the monsters - the evil spirits according to his people - because he was afraid that the Princess would have more influence over priests than him.
San Hyun-Ki, the Sage
Native human / Alive.
San Hyun-Ki (first name Hyun-Ki) is the old Sage, the scholar, exiled to the Surao for seeking to access the Forbidden Library under the capital city containing the dangerous and powerful relics. It seemed, however, he wasn’t stripped of all privileges, and was forced to be an advisor to the Viceroy of Surao. He served the previous viceroy as well.
Youngjae sought his counsel about the protagonist and the monsters.
Devoting the lifetime search for forbidden knowledge, he identifies the scroll of the princess as the relic from the Library of Pho-us-kah, a powerful magical artefact. He wants to read it himself, doing the unwise things that would lead to his death by upsetting both Viceroy and the Princess. Although the princess clearly stated that the relic was destroyed during the ritual, Hyun-ki doesn’t believe her, and wants to find the scroll himself. He was pardoned and set to find the scroll.
Pho-us-kah
Human, long time deceased, origin unknown.
Pho-us-kah was the insane sage that died many centuries before the events of the story.
His true name and origin are unknown. The word Pho-us-kah supposedly results from locals mispronouncing his real name.
It is said he wrote 631 scrolls in which he supposedly revealed all the secrets about the universe. All scrolls he created are powerful magical relics in their own right, sought by many, yet most of them were lost or hidden before the events of the story. It is said that scrolls can kill people who use them. Narim Hae had only accessed the so-called Forbidden Library under the royal capital by the grace of being the royal descent, and essentially heiress to the throne, though she was advised against doing so.
One of his scrolls was taken and used by Narim to summon the protagonist on the stone slab that remained from the Pho-us-kah’s long time ruined abode.
