《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 29

After Ford's show of power, everyone got to work. Rodger used his authority to put out a state of emergency in the city. Lord Joy was nowhere to be found for some reason. Only three hours had passed, and ninety percent of the town had been evacuated. "Hey, Jet, why aren't you making an arm? I did give you a method to make a magic arm." Ford looked around the town frowning. "Almark, are you any closer to finding this person? I really don't want to fight Filixerixix so underpowered."
"The person is still somewhere here in town." Almark was standing with his eyes closed.
Jet decided to answer his question. "I'm still getting used to pulling in magic. The arm will cost me magic to use."
"Not enough to worry about. Get used to using the arm. Now where did that Joy guy go? I need him to open the Alteras Tower door." Ford turned to the Tower. "Forget it no time. Jet, Carion, your task is to kill Joy. Almark, Lily, I leave the Time Walker to you. Jefferson, do what you do best. Rodger, you're with me." Ford grabbed Rodger and teleported to the Tower.
"We need Lord Joy to get in." Rodger looked at the door to the Tower. "Unless you plan to break down the door."
"No, I would break the Tower, and I need to keep this place intact. So plan b." Ford reached out to his side, and a sword appeared. It sparkles in the sunlight. He reached up and slashed at the door. "Dimension slash." The space around the door opened up to the inside of the Tower. "Huh, I thought the Tower would have protection against that spell. Whatever, now I don't need that guy to get inside." Ford had forgotten who he had needed to enter.
"Ok, how did you do that?" Rodger looked at the hole in amazement.
"I made the world shake. So why couldn't I create a hole through space?" Ford walked into the Alteras Tower. When Rodger stepped in, he froze at the sight. There were people in tubes all around with wires everywhere. Lights flashed on almost all of the tubes.
"What is this?" Rodger asked.
"A dead race of people. Their world was destroyed because World Jumper's could be born. Any world that can produce a World Jumper is destroyed. As for this Tower, it is used to keep us from being found. It also makes it where we can't Jump out of this side of the galaxy. Not that we're on a side. We live in a giant bubble of multiple galaxies." Ford walked on for a while in silence. "To save everyone, I killed nearly every World Jumper around."
"Then wouldn't that make you the bad guy?" Rodger asked.
"Yes, I am the bad guy. To keep Earth from being found, I killed every World Jumper I came across. You see when we go from world to world, we leave a hole in space. Filixerixix is a cleaner. When a World Jumper is found, they will follow their trail to find the world they're born on." Ford looked at the console for the Tower. Before he could continue talking, Rodger spoke up.
"So there is more than one person?"
"Filixerixix is more than one person. I call it a he, but it's made up of multiple people. So it could be she as well. They like me, are made of energy. But far older than I am. Better memory as well. Before all these problems that screwed up my plans. I was trying to destroy them and their whole galaxy." Ford pulled out the disc that held the AI. No one had seen him even take it. "Listen to me carefully, Rodger. Once we take care of that man that I sent Jet after. You need to make sure this Tower stands as long as possible."

"Why?" Rodger asked.
"Have you not been listening? This Tower fails, and they find us. What I don't get is why this world gets destroyed. World Jumper's can't be born here. It wasn't destroyed in my timeline." Ford found a place to put the disc. "There are already over four thousand timelines I'm holding in place. Even with all the energy of the universe, my body sucks in. I only have ten hours left. If only I had properly merged with Mag-Liv energy."
"You make less sense as you talk." Rodger frowned.
Ford put the disc into the slot. "I'm just a rambling fool. Wake up, little AI."
A girl formed and took a few steps back. "You're one of them."
Ford broke out in laughter. "Not quite, little one."
"I can see it in your eyes. You have destroyed worlds." The AI backed up even more.
"Yes, I've destroyed many worlds. So many have died at my hands. But we're not here to discuss my demons. Rodger here needs to make a new family packed with this Tower. I can see it hasn't been maintained right. I need to prepare for my final fight. If I keep this Tower safe, we can change the future." Ford turned to leave them. But the AI stopped him before he could.
"You are not Jetsford." The AI pointed at Ford.
Almark
Lily frowned as she read the book. "Almark, this is a terrible thing to do to a person."
"If it works, we could start all over from this point. I don't know if it is the right thing to do. But since we have been here, I've gotten thousands of different memories. We lose so many times in this fight." In Almark's opinion, it was the worst thing about his power. He can remember every timeline as it passes.
"Fine, can you sense this person with the town being evacuated?" Lily asked.
"As a matter of fact, I can. The person is in that giant building over there." Almark pointed at the biggest building in town. After seeing the state of the city, he was amazed it wasn't damaged.
"Wait, isn't that where Jet and Carion went?" Lily asked.
"Yes, shall we head over there?" Before Almark took a step, the building blew up. Knocking both him and Lily to the ground. "Or Maybe not."
Lily jumped to her feet and took off running. Almark cheated and stopped time to get to the building faster. Once there, he took a look around. "Crap, this wasn't an explosion." It took Lily a few minutes to catch up.
"Is this what I think it is?" Lily asked.
"Yeah, the Time Walker took this section of town to a different time. Now where is the better question." Almark shook his head. "No time for this." A gold clock formed, and Almark grabbed time in the area and put it back. The force of time being changed back made the town shake lightly. "Good news, I'm more powerful than the other person." Now a black grandfather clock formed behind Almark. He snapped a finger. "Alright, I got this time locked down."
"Almark, if you hold down the other Time Walker. You won't be able to fight." Lily added.
Almark pulled out a gun with Fate written on the side. The gun looked well worn and used. "It's fine. I got your back."

Lily smiled. "Aren't you supposed to take the lead?"
"You've kicked my ass enough. I don't mind being backup." Almark looked up at the building. "So, which floor do you think everyone is on?"
Lily took a deep breath. "If Jet and Carion weren't in the building, we could destroy the place."
"Can't, we need them alive." A man dropped from the sky in front of them. "Well, Lord Joy, what brings you here?"
"This is precisely why we don't plan anymore. Everything always goes wrong right off." Lily prepared to fight but first asked. "Can you get in there and have Carion trade places."
"Wow, you really don't want me as backup." Almark took off to find Carion and switch places.
Jet
"So, Gramps, do we brake the door down?" Carion stood at the front door of the biggest building in town.
"Better question is, where are all the guards? Seriously, I wonder if Joy is even here. Why hasn't he been seen around? We evacuated the entire town, and he hasn't shown up." Jet looked around at the empty streets.
Carion looked around as well. "The better, better question is, should we knock before entering?" Carion walked up to the door and knocked. "Hello, anyone home?" He waited for about two seconds before kicking the door in.
Jet followed Carion into the building. "This place is empty." He was getting a bad feeling.
"Blood," Carion looked around. "This place is full of blood."
Jet sniffed the air. He could only smell some kind of lavender. "I don't smell blood."
"I can feel the blood. My magic is very different. I guess you would say I'm a blood mage. The more blood around, the more powerful I am." Carion walked over to an elevator. He clicked on the button a few times. "Guess we take the stairs. What floor do you think this Joy is on?"
"His living space is on floor eighteen." Jet had killed that tree woman on that floor.
"Alright, let's go there first. I don't want to check every floor." Carion walked over to the stairs.
"But I can tell you there is a group of people on the top floor." Jet adjusted his eyes to see heat sources.
"Wait, I thought you learned to sense everything around you after losing your eyes?" Carion looked at Jet.
Jet wasn't too sure what to say. "What do you mean after I lost my eyes? All I did was adjust my magic sense to see heat sources."
Carion turned to head up the stairs. "Don't worry about what I said. It's a problem for the future."
That sounded like a major problem to Jet. "We have got to talk later about my future."
"I doubt we will have time for that. Once Almark finishes whatever he is doing, we will all disappear." Carion took off upstairs. The building shook for a few seconds, but it hadn't slowed them down.
Jet decided to drop that subject since they didn't have time. They jogged up the stairs, and he was glad he had magic again. He did not want to go up the stairs with no magic. When they got to the eighteenth floor, Carion stopped. "Carion?" Carion didn't answer and broke down the door to enter. He walked into what looked like a living room. There was dead old women on the floor. "What the hell is this?"
Carion walked over and looked around. "So that's why Joy can live so long. He is taking the life of other people."
Jet cringed at the sight. "He took the life of naked old women?"
"They weren't old before. They have several methods for taking another person's life force. One of the ways is through sex." Carion said.
"Why would you assume he slept with these women?" Jet countered.
"There is no way he would have stripped them to watch them become old ladies. Kissing probably would have been enough, but I doubt he is the type." Carion looked over at Jet. "How old did he look when you last saw him?"
Jet thought back. "Not too old, maybe mid-thirties."
"Right, six women here. I'd say he is in his lower twenties now." Carion went back to the stairs.
Before he started back up them, Jet asked. "Six women only got him about ten years of time?"
"Yes, the magic is not efficient at all. That's why people like him get hunted down quickly when found out. They leave a trail of bodies." Carion took off again.
Once they got to the top floor, Jet recognized Lord Joy, and he did look younger. The other woman in the room he did not know. "You did kill them, women."
"Oh good, the World Jumper is here. Remember our deal. I want his body." Lord Joy smiled at Jet.
"That's creepy." Jet took several steps back.
"I want your power. Don't get any creepy ideas." Lord Joy stepped forward.
"Hold on. You may be able to take Jetsford. But that guy next to him is Carion. He is in a whole other league. All you need to do is make sure he doesn't get a hold of blood." The lady gave an evil grin.
Carion broke out laughing. "Yeah, I wonder where I could get a lot of blood quickly." Before Carion had finished, Lord Joy jumped out the window. He walked over to the now broken window to look down. He saw Almark and Lily below. "Huh, he jumped into another bad situation." Then he watched Almark run into the building. "Crap, you're the Time Walker. Gramps, you're on your own for a bit. Try not to lose." He said before jumping out of the window as well.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.

Author's Notes: Book One: Deception of Midirection is my starting book for the series called 'Age of Enlightenment'. Having characters adapt and react to the situation they're on and how will they survive, getting knowledge that completely changes their view on the world, and finally how a person could change the world with power.
