《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 850 The Auction Part 12

"Henrietta, are tattooed spells like those a common thing?"
Henrietta says "No, not at all. In fact, this is my first time seeing such a thing! As far as I know, it is not a technique that is known in the Magic Kingdom. Although, after everyone here has seen it, I am sure some people will begin researching it."
"Yes, it does look like it could be very useful!"
In the end, the demon is sold for over seven million, close to what I paid for the island! What's more is the demon was bought by whoever is bidder number one. That should be the ruler of the Magic Kingdom, unless there is someone here more important than him.
It makes me wonder if the demon was bought because he is a demon or because they want to study the tattoos. Considering this is the Magic Kingdom, I actually think the second option is more likely. Knowledge of magical tattoos would definitely be worth more than a single demon.
Unfortunately, since I am leaving, I will probably never have a chance to find out which it is. That is unless I somehow hear about an army of magically tattooed warriors. However, as things stand I doubt I will ever hear anything about the Magic Kingdom once I leave.
That's probably for the best considering the amount of enemies I am leaving behind me. Especially once people figure out that Lin left at the same time as I did. Come to think of it, this auction isn't just for people from the Magic Kingdom.
People from other nations are here as well, and they are all fans of Lin. Just how many enemies am I really going to make if I take her away with me? I could quickly become the most hated man in the history of this entire world!

From now on when I shapeshift into a human I am going to have to remember to use a different face! Otherwise I am likely to run into endless trouble no matter where I go. All this just because so many people are beguiled by her beauty, it's terrifying.
Come to think of it, I won't be able to take her anywhere there are people without a disguise. Even if it is somewhere no one has heard of her, her beauty will instantly attract trouble. That brings up another thought, I have never tried it, but I wonder if I can change gender when I shapeshift?
It isn't that I want to be a woman, but I can think of a few situations where it could come in handy. It is something I should try at least once just to find out if I can do it or not. If nothing else, it would be extremely useful for playing pranks on people!
Just imagining Myria's face if I came back and claimed to be stuck as a woman sets me to giggling. Henrietta gives me a look but apparently decides not to say anything and goes back to watching the auction. I also turn my attention back to the auction and try to stop thinking about random things.
Unfortunately, the next few items are spellbooks that don't interest me at all. However, the rest of the auction goes pretty nuts over them and the bidding is intense. It's not too surprising considering most of the people here are mages.
The spellbooks are apparently those of some famous mages, but the names mean nothing to me. Even Henrietta gets excited about one of them and joins in the bidding war. All I do is sit there and enjoy watching the excitement as the crowd goes insane.
Even after the bid goes beyond what the normal crowd can afford, they are still going nuts. The higher the bid goes the more excited they get, even though it isn't their money. It's probably something like living vicariously through others, I guess.

Whatever it is, their level of excitement is fairly contagious and I find myself just as excited. During the bidding I notice that Henrietta has two paddles, one for herself and one for the merchant group. Right now she is using her personal paddle to bid for the spellbook that she wants.
Unfortunately for her, someone on the top floor is also interested in the spellbook. She doesn't yield to them, but in the end they simply bid more than she has. Henrietta looks a little disappointed but she still watches the rest of the bidding intently.
In the end, the spellbook ends up selling for over ten million crystal coins. It is the highest price so far in the entire auction, and it is all just for a single spellbook. I can't believe that a single book ended up going for more than I spent to buy a floating island.
Then again, I guess it makes sense in a way, since spells directly affect the power of a mage. So it makes sense for them to go crazy since it is to increase their power. No matter the reason, it makes for an entertaining show for everyone.
After the last of the spellbooks is sold the next item comes up, but it is a wand. A wand does me absolutely no good, but again the mages go crazy over it. I didn't think that wands were even a thing, then again I still don't know much about mages here.
"Henrietta, what use is a wand to a mage?"
Henrietta says "They are used to focus and intensify spells, but they are rare. They are extremely hard to make!"
"So, they aren't used to store and release spells?"
Henrietta says "Of course not! How could they even do that? Trying to put a spell into something only leads to explosions!"
As Henrietta goes back to paying attention to the auction I think back to the wands I made for the elves. If those ever came to the attention of the Magic Kingdom it would cause an uproar. The difference in the way the Magic Kingdom makes and uses wands makes me curious.
Since I don't have to worry as much about Lin, I send out some mana to scan the wand. What I find surprises me, the wand is not enchanted at all, it is not even magical. Yet, somehow, the wood the wand is made of has been rearranged to make it naturally enhance magic.
The enhancement isn't huge, but the fact that it is completely natural is amazing to me. Someone basically rearranged the atomic structure so that it resonates with the magic that passes through it. Even I, with my knowledge from my old world, have no idea how they did it.
Unfortunately, since the wand is tuned to human magic, it is absolutely worthless to me. However, the possibilities it suggests are very interesting and give me some ideas. Tuning something to pure mana should be easier, if I can figure out how it was done.
My best guess is that it has something to do with the frequency given off by the energy. Unfortunately, my knowledge ends at the fact that everything has a unique frequency. That kind of science goes way beyond what I learned in school, leaving me at a loss.
