《Chances of Death: Seven Decks Book I》Book 2 - Chapter 72

"Damnit!" exclaimed Sam as he was finally able to move from his seat. He didn't like being frozen and powerless. He noticed a a sheen covering the exterior walls and doors, and when he attempted to open the exit door he received a system message:
"Boss, you have 17 hours and 50 minutes left to prepare the casino for customers."
Bell his AI chimed in his mind, "Hey, Jen's the Boss. Doesn't The System know that she's supposed to take care of all this kind of stuff!"
"That's exactly what I was thinking!" grumbled Sam.
"Duh!!!" replied Bell.
"Well, I'm glad you're back Bell. I guess now that I'm the casino Boss I can access your help now."
Bell replied, "ummm... did you notice that all your money is gone?"
"What! How did that happen?!" exclaimed Sam.
Sam could feel Bell's metaphorical sigh when she replied, "Obviously you didn't read the System Message closely when you accepted the Casino Token. You were required to pay all your money to The System for funding casino operations."
"That's not my fault! I didn't have the time to read it closely. I had to accept before I could... you know." complained Sam.
Bell teased, "I was inactive while you were playing blackjack. What do you mean? Before you could what?"
"Ha..ha. As if you didn't know I've pissed myself." Sam said dryly.
Bell giggled in Sam's mind, and then he got a mischievous look on his face as he pulled up the System message he'd received from acquiring the token, and before he could say anything, Bell replied, "That's not fair!"
"Of course it's fair. You're way better at doing this kind of stuff than me. It says we have access to a casino operations manual. While you review the manual, I'm going to try to find somewhere to clean myself up."

Bell grumbled, but knew how important a task she was given, and that Sam needed her. While Bell set her AI functions to reviewing the casino manual, she wondered for the... she chose not to determine the exact number of times, if she had actual awareness. Bell was frustrated that Jen's and Tamako's AIs were so boring. They were basic computers, no personality whatsoever... Ding... her processor notified her, Ohh that will help, Bell thought.
"I wonder if Jen knows what's going on and looking for me." Sam thought as he was wondering around looking for an employee office where there might be extra clothes and a place to clean up.
Bell interrupted Sam's search and said, "Yes, I'm sure she knows and is looking for you. Also, follow the arrows I'm placing in your vision. Apparently you have a hotel suite with a bathroom and and several 'Casino Boss' suits The System has provided you as part of your token."
Sam grumbled, "That's the least it could do, considering all the platinum it took from me!"
Bell replied, "You can't be serious. You now own a System Casino!"
Sam rolled his eyes as he responded less than enthusiastically, "Yeah... and what good is that to me?"
Sam could hear the smugness in Bell's 'voice' when she said, "In about 5 seconds when you enter the Casino Boss' private office and suite, maybe you will see the benefit."
Sam continued to follow the arrows in his vision, and proceeded to open the double doors they were directing him to go through, and he almost tripped over his own feet as his body tried to keep going, but his mind had come to a complete stop, unable to believe what he was seeing.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
