《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 123: Obstacles of The Marble Variety

Lola lept from the marble castle wall and landed on a small floating chunk of pale banana-yellow marble; the floating marble chunk slowly spun around as Lola clung to it. Yokuza watched Lola hurtle on the floating chunk of marble before he formed his large snow wings and flew up to Lola.
Lola continued clinging to the spinning marble chunk before its spinning stopped when Yokuza placed his foot against the marble chunk. Lola clambered to the top of the marble chunk and stared at Yokuza's snow wings.
"You can fly?" Lola asked surprisedly.
"Yeah, I am part avia, after all.".
"Oh...," Lola uttered. Lola quickly ran over Yokuza's leg, over his shoulder and clung to his back. Yokuza pushed the marble chuck with his foot before he turned towards the marble cathedral in the distance. Yokuza flexed his wings and rocketed off for the cathedral. Yokuza soared through the air and weaved between the flying marble debris. Lola sat up on Yokuza's back while continuing to cling to Yokuza's winter fur trench coat.
Lola peeked around at the various floating clusters of marble and watched as they slowly formed into various structures. Lola gazed down at Yokuza before she perked up her ears and had a surprised look on her face.
"Wait, you got two Azu Abilities?" Lola asked, which caused Yokuza to dilate his pupils.
"I- I do?" Yokuza asked slightly nervously.
"Yeah, just like Scarlett does," Lola cheerfully said. Yokuza mentally exhaled with relief while thinking having two would've been suspicious, so he's been only using his Artic Mist Azure Ability.
"So... what is the one which isn't the ice one?" Yokuza asked with an awkward stutter.
"I dunno, I'm not as good as Papa, so I'm only able to tell how many someone has and their type," Lola stated while reaching into her tail before pulling out the puzzle box from the mini ruin.

"Like this, I can tell there's an Azu gem in here but can't tell what it is," Lola explained while holding the puzzle box in front of Yokuza's face. Yokuza stared at the puzzle box before lightly moving it away from his face with the back of his hand.
"But why is it in a Rubik's Cube?" Yokuza asked. Lola pulled the puzzle box towards herself and registered the puzzle box's shape had changed.
"It... wasn't earlier...," Lola muttered shyly. Yokuza continued to soar through the sky, but as he tried to focus on flying, Lola slowly etched the puzzle box Rubik's Cube in front of Yokuza's face again.
"Do you know how to solve it?" Lola asked pleadingly. Yokuza mentally groaned and came to a stop. Yokuza orientated himself into a standing position as Lola climbed on top of Yokuza's head and sat on him. Lola handed Yokuza the Rubik's cube puzzle box and looked at its abysmal state.
"How'd you manage to mess up the colours so badly?" Yokuza asked as he rotated the cube faces at an eye-blurring speed. Lola chuckled awkwardly while mentioning she might have broken off a few of the pieces when she headbutted the puzzle box. Yokuza exhaled loudly before losing his head.
"So, the pieces might not even be in the right place?" Yokuza asked as Lola glanced behind herself before she widened her eyes. Yokuza continued to fiddle with the puzzle box but felt Lola place her small hands on his cheeks. Lola abruptly jolted Yokuza's head backwards.
The sudden jolt of his head knocked Yokuza off balance, and he spun backwards before a vaguely polearm-shaped chunk of marble whizzed over Yokuza and struck the puzzle box. The strike from the marble chunk rattled the Rubik's Cube puzzle box and knocked all of its pieces off, the puzzle box's core.
"The puzzle box!" Lola exclaimed in dismay. Lola lept at the puzzle box, which only had the middle pieces of the original Rubik's cube. Lola caught the puzzle box core, and Lola was caught by Yokuza before she fell too far. Yokuza placed Lola on his back before he spun around towards where the marble polearm hurtled from.

"Thanks...," Yokuza uttered while he focused on scanning the area. Yokuza noted the swarm of separate big floating chunks of banana-yellow marble and, along with Lola, was certain those marble chunks weren't there a second ago.
"Those birds are fast," Lola muttered angrily. Yokuza surveyed the terrain, nitpicking every single floating marble chunk which met his gaze. Yokuza relaxed his left hand and calmly gathered a cloud of opake white mist around his hand. The mist condensed and Yokuza solidified a part of the mist into a long sword handle made of opake white ice.
Yokuza grabbed the sword handle with both hands and raised his hands over his head with the remaining mist trailing after the hilt of the handle. Yokuza tensed his grip to the point cyan blood vessels appeared all over his hands before he slashed the sword handle horizontally through the air and formed the rest of the mist into the blade of the giant claymore. Lola peeked her head over Yokuza's shoulder and gazed with starry eyes at the giant opaque white ice claymore with spider lily-shaped flowers over the hand guard.
"Woah! What's that called?" Lola asked excitedly while pointing at the magical claymore Yokuza constructed. Yokuza glanced at Lola before at the claymore.
"Erm... Fractal Quickened... claymore?" Yokuza replied slowly.
"Did you come up with that name just now?" Lola asked curiously, causing Yokuza to remain silent.
"Because it sounds good...," Lola added.
"You don't need to show me pity for-". Yokuza halted his words. He swung his wings downwards and propelled himself and Lola straight upwards before multiple large vultures made from the banana-yellow marble crashed into each other where Yokuza previously resided. Yokuza scoffed at the marble vultures before halting his ascent.
"They seem too fast for their own good, if you ask me," Yokuza remarked before he glared to his side. Yokuza held his Fractal Quickened claymore in his left hand before spinning around like a beyblade (a type of spinning top toy) and diagonally cleaved his Fractal Quickened claymore through the marble vulture flying behind him.
The halves of the marble vulture split off from each other, and the areas directly cut by the Fractal Quickened claymore rapidly turned into opaque white ice. Lola intently watched the slashed marble vulture's halves become completely overcome by the infectious ice until the previously marble vulture became an ice sculpture.
Lola pulled her Dream Weaver (a smaller golden and blue replica of the Crescent Moon Staff made of transparent metal) from her tails before bonking the frozen vulture halves and making them shatter into a thin white mist.
"What just happened?" Lola asked enthusiastically.
"My Fractal Quickened claymore is made from the mist generated by my Artic Mist Azure Ability, which simply transforms anything it touches into opaque white ice, duh," Yokuza explained.
"Really? That's kinda similar to the Lumios' Goldfiction... Azu Ability... only his is magigold instead of ice," Lola remarked while cringing a little when she said the name of Lumios' Azure Ability incorrectly.
"That so?". Yokuza readied his blade as the swarm of circling marble vultures morphed the shape of their wings into polearms.
"Uh-oh...," Lola uttered before Yokuza grabbed her with his free hand. Yokuza wrapped his right arm around Lola's waist before he immediately blasted off into the sky as the marble vultures unleashed a torrent of marble polearms at him and Lola.
