《The Legacy of Gilgamesh》Chapter 55 War Council 3

Morgan, who was known for his wisdom, refused to back down. "I understand your doubts, but you must see the bigger picture here. Darius is the only one who can help us win this war. He has access to all of Dracule's plans and secrets, and he knows his weaknesses. He may have been Dracule's most trusted subordinate, but that can also work in our favor. He knows where the cracks in Dracule's armor are, and he can exploit them to bring him down.”
Prince Charles began, "Darius and Dracule were once inseparable. They shared a bond that was unbreakable. Darius even played a vital role in Dracule's coup. But now, it seems as though that bond is being shattered."
The Emperor of Kushite listened carefully before responding, "I understand where you're coming from, but we can't jump to conclusions. Darius has been by Dracule's side through thick and thin. He helped Dracule obtain the powerful Excalibur sword, which is a testament to his loyalty. It's hard to imagine he would turn his back on him now."
The Bald King interjected, "But let's not forget that Darius is the only minister who survived Dracule's ruthless purge. That speaks volumes about his level of trust with the King. If anyone is capable of such a betrayal, it's not him."
"You're right, it was indeed Darius who helped Dracule acquire Excalibur," Morgan began with a nod of agreement. "But what many fail to consider is that Darius had an unparalleled opportunity to seize the power of this holy sword for himself. Yet, he chose not to succumb to the temptation and instead placed his faith in Dracule's ability to wield it justly."
Morgan paused, letting his words sink in before continuing. "Think about it, my lords. If Darius had kept Excalibur in his own hands, he would have become the most powerful man in the world. As a mere general, he would have had the chance to rise to become a god-chosen king, wielding the sword's immense power to conquer all who opposed him."

He looked around at his audience, noting their eager expressions. "But he did not. He knew that the sword was too great a burden for any one man to bear, and that it was destined for a greater purpose. He trusted in Dracule's honor and integrity, knowing that he was the only one who could wield it justly and for the greater good."
Morgan's words struck a chord with the lords, who began to nod in agreement. "If Darius had not given the sword to Dracule, we may have been fighting a different battle altogether.”
"My lords, I implore you to consider the many benefits of having Darius as an ally in our quest to depose Dracule," Morgan declared, projecting his voice to reach every corner of the room. "Not only is he one of the most trusted men next to Dracule himself, but he also possesses unparalleled power within the army and the intelligence department."
Morgan's words were not to be taken lightly, for they were rooted in the bloody purge of ministers that had taken place under Dracule's rule. "We cannot deny that Dracule's ruthless tactics have led to Darius' rapid rise to power. And now, as the second man in command of the Assyrian Empire, he wields significant influence over their internal affairs and the very army we must engage to bring about peace."
He paused, allowing his words to sink in before continuing. "But my lords, we must not let this opportunity slip through our grasp. With Darius by our side, Dracule's downfall will be much easier to achieve. Together, we can topple his tyrannical rule and bring about a new era of peace and prosperity in Gaia."
Morgan's suggestion had sparked an intense discussion among the lords, princes, and kings present at the meeting. They were all well-educated and experienced leaders, and they knew that they had to come up with a workable solution to bring Darius on their side and overthrow Dracule's tyrannical rule.

They analyzed every possible scenario in great detail, discussing the risks and rewards of each approach. They recognized that the success of their mission hinged on their ability to secure Darius' support, and they were determined to do so.
The conversation was intense and focused, with each member of the council offering their insights and perspectives. They examined every potential angle and contingency, mapping out a detailed plan of action.
Among the many ideas discussed, it was ultimately decided that Morgan would be the one to bring in Darius. He had made the suggestion, and the kings of the various countries were more than happy to agree. They recognized that if Morgan had put forward the idea, he should be the one to take the lead in executing it.
And so, with a clear plan in place, the council of the One Hundred Nation Alliance set their sights on the task ahead. They knew that it would be a challenging and dangerous journey, but they were ready to do whatever it took to bring down Dracule.
Morgan was a man with a strong sense of ambition and a deep longing for power. He had always been driven by his desire to become a great leader, and he saw in the power of the ancient King Arthur a means to achieve that goal. However, with Dracule in possession of Excalibur, Morgan feared that his dreams of power would never be realized.
It was this fear that drove him to take on the dangerous mission of bringing Darius into the fold. Morgan knew that if he could convince Darius to join their cause, he would not only be contributing to the downfall of Dracule, but he would also be securing his own path to power.
Despite the risks, Morgan was determined to succeed. He saw this mission as an opportunity to make a name for himself on the continent and to make powerful allies among the various lords and kings. He knew that in the world of politics, making friends in high places was the key to success.
With these thoughts in mind, Morgan set out alone to convince Darius of the righteousness of their cause. He was willing to go to great lengths to achieve his goal, and he was willing to risk everything to see it through.
Morgan was also a man who understood the nature of human greed. He believed that the more social status someone had, the more likely they were to be consumed by their own desire for power.

Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
