《The Alteras Games: World Jumper Book 2》Chapter 27

Jet wasn't sure what to think as he sat on a couch facing Ford. Who was sitting on a recliner with his eyes closed. The house was a bit bare of anything else than the furniture. Yet the place was a mansion in the middle of the forest. "So I'm here. Who are you." Jet looked the young man up and down. Ford didn't look like anyone he would recognize. Yet he felt that he knew this man. Carion laughed at Jet as if what he said was hilarious. "What's so funny?" He looked Carion up and down, frowning. Jet noticed the man also looked familiar.
"It's nothing, man. You will get why I'm laughing in a bit." Carion walked over to Ford. "Yo, Grandpa, are you awake?"
"I thought I got you to quit calling me that." Ford frowned and opened his eyes.
"You did, but if I remember right, I should still be calling you that in your time." Carion sat down next to Jet and put an arm around his shoulder. "What do you think of this? Shouldn't I be able to call my Grandpa, Grandpa?"
"Titles are annoying. So I'm not the one to ask." Jet stated.
"That I don't get. You still call your parents Dad and Mom?"
"Enough, Carion." Ford flicked a finger, and he flew out the wall of the house. The house seemed to repair as fast as he had gone out.
Jet, at that moment, realized how strong the man was. He decided to look at Ford with his magic sight. Ford glowed as bright as a sun that was dimming every second he looked at him. "What are you? Who are you?"
"I'm you from the future. If you want to look at me with magic sight, turn it down. You will go blind looking at me for too long. I go by Ford at the moment." Ford let out a breath of air. "Look, Jet, something has gone terribly wrong. The future I am from is slowly disappearing. That dimming energy you see is my Mag-Liv energy. Basically, if all that energy disappears, I die. So we only have three days to solve this problem." Ford explained the problem at hand.
"This sounds like a hassle." Jet complained.
Ford laughed. "That describes our life well."
"Hey, Jeff." Jet started.
"I go by Jefferson." Jefferson stopped Jet.
"Ok, Jefferson. Why is one of those earrings broken?" Jet asked.
"Because Kayley died fighting to save your daughter Sarah and a few others. But Sarah couldn't run away. So she sacrificed herself to save her." Jefferson explained while rubbing the broken earring.
"So I had a girl." Jet smiled and then remembered what Jefferson had said. "Sorry to hear that."
"It was a long time ago for me. Not only that, you've lost a lot as well over the years." Jefferson frowned.
Jet felt that a lot had been left out there. "So, why don't you guys take out the person causing this problem? From what I can tell, the future me could easily kill this person. I know Jefferson here doesn't kill, but I don't have a problem." Jet probably shouldn't have admitted that out loud.

"Yes, but we have to find the person first. Still, I can't use my Mag-Liv energy. I'd break the planet and kill everyone on it. I've gotten a tad too strong. The good news is I can still use my magic." Ford smiled.
"Magic, you may need to dust it off first." Carion walked through the door. He crossed his arms and leaned on a wall. "So we winging the plan as usual?"
Jet, at this point, after seeing Carion, remembered something. "Wait, Carion is your Grandson?"
"Technically, he is yours as well. More to the point, finding the other Time Walker. Almark have any leads yet?" Ford asked.
"Almark has been here the whole time." Jet pointed out the obvious.
"I've been quiet because I'm looking for them. I'm reaching into time to find a trace of another one like me. So far, it feels like they are near the Alteras Tower, and they are more powerful than I am." Almark sat down, sighing. He pulled out a cigarette and started to smoke.
"I thought you quit?" Ford's eyebrow raised.
"I did," Almark said.
Lily sat down next to him. "Must be bad for you to get one out."
"I'm not sure how we will get out of this situation in three days. So, what's the plan, leader?" Almark asked.
Ford let out a breath that he had been holding. "Only thing we can do at this point." He got to his feet. "We head over to the Tower and see if we can find this person."
Jet was confused by the situation and decided to ask. "Are any of you going to explain the situation better?"
Ford frowned and answered. "Ok, I'm from the future, as well as Almark and Lily. Now Jefferson and our Grandson are from further in the future. I could feel them close by when Almark pulled us back in time. Figured it wouldn't hurt to have extra hands. They were at our house talking to Amanda. So while I was there, I fixed Sarah's legs." Almark and Lily both stepped back at what Ford had said. "Which you will find out in your future why that is a bad idea. Now we need to go and find the other Time Walker. Personally, I plan to kill them for screwing up my future. Especially since we apparently won the fight against the one who can not be named." Ford stopped and looked at everyone questioningly. "Did I miss anything?"
"Miss anything? Aren't you the one that is always about no screwing with the timeline?" Lily asked.
"And what has that got us? I've been careful about so much when going back. I'd like to know my daughter had a better life before she died." Ford's expression went dark.
Jet didn't know what came over him and walked over to Ford. "What do you mean by that?"
"Sarah was one of the first to get killed by that man. Along with Carion's father." Ford's face fell. "But, many people have died by that man, and we don't have the right to complain." He walked out of the house, not turning around.

"After the old man finally stopped caring about screwing with the past. He didn't even say my father's name." Carion shook his head.
Jet wanted to say something but sat back down. His thoughts go back to hearing his daughter died or died in the future. "Why didn't I protect Sarah?"
"It was never your fault." Carion sat down across from Jet. "I've accepted that nothing could have been done. That man thing was too stinking powerful. If it hadn't been for my parents, I'd be dead. I still remember the day they sent me to look for my grandfather."
"Wish I had been there to see the look on his face when he found out he had a grandson." Jefferson smiled.
"Yeah, he was quite shocked when I told him. That lasted a whole minute before I had to explain Sarah was dead." Carion sighed. "Maybe, since the timeline isn't the same, it can be changed."
"Why do you call your mom Sarah?" Jet asked, and everyone looked at him like. 'Really?'
"Yeah, I wonder. It couldn't be the father who doesn't use titles." Carion laughed.
"Even I called my parents Dad and Mom." Jet said.
"She took the No titles further than even you. I grew up calling her Sarah." Carion shrugged. "It was normal in my house."
Jet got to his feet to leave the house. But Alex finally came out and asked. "So, what happens to me?" While she struck up a conversation with the others, Jet left the house.
Jet looked around for Ford. It didn't take long. Ford stood looking out in the distance at the thunderclouds. He walked up beside Ford and looked at him. His eyes were closed. "Deep in thought?" Jet asked.
"No, I'm scanning the city. Trying to find the other Time Walker." Ford didn't move even an inch.
"Your eyes are closed." Jet said.
"I can scan this whole world with ease. But, finding one person is such a pain." Ford opened his eyes, sighing. "I can't sense another Time Walker like Almark. Whoever it is must be on par or slightly better than Almark. What a pain."
"How did Amanda take Sarah's death?" Jet asked out of nowhere. That was the first question he thought when he heard his daughter would die.
"I've tried so hard to keep the timeline from getting messed up. Because I am afraid of what Amanda would think of me now." Ford thought out loud.
"That made no sense at all." Jet frowned.
"Sarah never really got to know her mother. Amanda died while she was still young." Ford watched as Jet took several steps back. "Yes, I've lost everything and more. Except for Carion, he is a ball of fun to be around. Thing is, I'm pretty sure he gets his moods from me. The whole killing thing as well. It's funny how you said I don't mind killing people. Never thought of it at first true. But, come back and talk to me after a few billion people. Although, I'm probably close to a trillion these days. My fights tend to destroy entire worlds now."
"Why?"
"To try and stop the one who can't be named. Before you ask, if you say his name. He will be able to track you. Even I can feel people use my name now, as long as I'm on the same planet." Jet stopped Ford again.
"Why did you let Amanda die?" Jet asked.
"I wasn't there when she died. I was off on another world at a party. After all, what harm would it be to have a party after saving many people. Even knowing they created the damn monster I killed. We should get back in and get on our way." Ford turned to walk away.
"Tell me how she died?"
"Do you really want to know? Amanda was out visiting her grandparents in Maryland. She was caught up in a takeover of the U.S. government. She was used as an example to the world and me not to get involved. Her throat had been cut, and she bled out slowly." Ford's voice went passive. "And I killed every last one of them, along with almost a million innocent people. After the fight, it took me some time to accept her death. In the end, what right did I have to cry over her death? After all, how many people lost their loved ones in my fight?" Ford walked back into the house.
Jet waited a few minutes to go back into the place. Everyone was completely silent when he got back in and sat down. He tried to say something but couldn't get anything out. So Ford took the floor. "Right, I think it is time for a reset. Anyone here disagree with me?"
Almark spoke up. "That is not a thing. I'll still remember everything that will happen when I go back. All the memories will be placed right back into my mind when I go back."
"Not exactly. I can destroy the future completely from this point forward." Ford pulled out a book. "Problem is, I'll have to use my remaining energy. If we go through with this plan, we got less than a day to find the other Time Walker. When we find him, he'll need to be alive. With the life of a Time Warrior." He looked at Jet. "That's what the book calls Time Walker's. I could use his Time Energy to reset time from this point. He or she will be erased from existence. Then we will give Jet the tools he needs to make sure this time around is better."

I'm still learning and through reading and talking is not a problem for me, writing is my weak spot. Though not the only one and not the most important, this is one of the reasons I decided to start writing this novel. 3: I do not own the artwork used as a cover, I found it on google, I liked it A LOT and decided to use it.
