As Kadin pushed towards the barrier he still heard the howl of his vortex behind him along side the occasional crackle of thunder, but there was something else … it almost sounded like a roar, just as he was turning to look behind him the ground just next to him erupted rocks and stones flew everywhere and there just beside him was what looked like a ballista bolt. Looking back he could see its source a red skinned minotaur that was more than twice his hight carrying a siege weapon as a bow, it was already nocking another bolt, there were also three other demons moving with it, that were smaller than the minotaur but still bigger than Kadin covered in black armour not quite as ornate as the previous hell lord he seen but still relatively terrifying. As the minotaur loosed another arrow Kadin dove to the side as it flew past where he had been standing a second before. The other three were quickly closing in on him. He was so close the barrier was less then a mile away at this point. He very much doubted he could win in a fight against all three of them, maybe if he was at his best and not half dead with exhaustion he could give it go. After a few second of thinking he only came up with one option.. do what he did with the spiders. He moved out the way of another of the minotaur’s arrows, as he quickly pulled in power and sent it straight to the ground in front of him leaving a lightly glowing rune line of his trap. Over the next few minutes while still dodging the ‘arrows’ he threw down trap after trap while still making his was towards the boundary edge.

Kadin watched, still trying to move back as fast as he could as the demons in front of him got closer and closer, they would just be coming up on the traps he set and he watched as if in slow motion as the lead demon stepped right on the trigger of one a blue flash of light and a light shattering noise, as the flash cleared Kadin could see right up its right leg frost crystals it looked down at it slowly then looked back up and Kadin and took another step forwards – completely ignoring its iced leg when it hit the next trap it didn’t even slow and took another step forwards. Kadin’s heart sank, he was going to need to fight them, he could see the barrier nearby – but it might as well have been on another world for all the good that was going to do. A flash of Frost, a flash of fire a flash of electrical energy the demons in front of them didn’t even seem to notice it now. Then as one of them triggered another trap Kadin got a stroke of luck a blue flash of an electrical discharge – but no sooner had it faded when a yellow bolt fell from the sky right at it. Hitting the demon right in the chest. It was blown back several feet as charred smoke raised its armour. Kadin hope the lighting had killed it as it landed with a crash on its back but after less than a second the demon sat back up and lifted itself to its feet. Kadin decided to make a brake for it .. if he could get across the barrier he would be able to use his magic more that might give him enough of an edge to at least slow them down enough to get into the forest. Kadin turned to run away again when he saw on of the other demons lift its hand and blasted out a spear made of ice, it caught Kadin in the shoulder and he again saw and heard the light chiming of his cloaks protections braking – it would recharge itself but it would take days to get back to a full charge. But he spun and ran as he heard another trap go off behind him, then another and just when he thought he was going to make it – Pain exploded out from his from his left shoulder, he kept his feet but just barely and looking down he saw an arrow the size of a spear going straight through his cloak and shoulder its point sticking out in front of him by about two feet. He tried to take another step but his vision swam, his head pounded and he almost fell.

‘so this is how I die?’ he though then quickly after

‘NO!’ if he was going to die it would be with blades in hand. He tried to draw his two short swords but only his right arm moved the left did little more that swing painfully forwards. But he drew a sword in his right hand and turned to face them.
