As you can tell with this being posted outside of my usual 20-chapter update, this update indicates that Draft 1 of Breaking Step is done.
It clocks in at 110 chapters and 251,399 words.
With the end of the first arc, which is tentatively named “Tibs of Kragle Rock” (and yes, I am well aware it isn’t a great name. titling is one of my weak points) I thought I’d give you the road map for the series.
Arc 2 (title to be figured out, probably once I have a few books written)
Book 4: Stepping Wild (high confidence of title)
Book 5: Mind your Step (confident of title)
Book 6: a Serious Step (hopefully)
Arc 3 (title to be figured out, probably once I have a few books written)
Book 7: Stepped on (maybe, I’ll have a better sense once there is an outline)
Book 8: To be decided
Book 9: to be decided (I want it to be something to the effect of “the last fight” but with step/stepping/climbing ladders in the title)
Final book
Book 10: Stepping Down (definite)
Back to Breaking Step
As I’m writing this, I am preparing to go on vacation. So it’s going to be 2 weeks before I start writing draft 2.
The schedule for the posting of draft 2 here will change from the 2 previous books. As a way of encouraging people to support me on my patreon (https://www.patreon.com/kindar) the number of chapters Patreon will increase from between 3 to 6 chapters to 20 to 25 chapters.
The decision is because if my support on Patreon continues to drop, I will have to stop writing full-time. Because this series doesn’t bring in any money (as far as I can tell, 3 people are on my Patreon because of it) it will be the first victim of the loss of time to me having to get a job.

I know this comes across as a threat, but it’s simply the reality of trying to write full-time. If a story doesn’t support me, no matter how much I love writing it, I have to move on to something that will hopefully do.
But as you can tell by the road map, that isn’t what I want to do.
Series News time
My editor returned the first round of edits for Bottom Rung and I’m going through them. No ETA on when we’ll be done, but it’s moving ahead again. I also have covers for the first 3 books (https://drive.google.com/open?id=18a16eY6LaJ93I4EkLR-JCBhcDpoHHGHc&usp=drive_fs)
I haven’t made a decision on if it will be on Kindle Unlimited or not. While the idea of reaching more readers because they won’t have to pay for the book itself is appealing, there is a high risk that I’m going to have to take Bottom Rung off this site because of it (another reason why I’d prefer people support me on my Patreon so I wouldn’t have to rely so heavily on Amazon)
