《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 115: Flyer Finders

On the streets of Talkia, Minia (with Kyubi sitting on Minia's gelatin tails and eating a hotdog) bit into a hotdog as Kusana floated ahead of Minia while carrying Snow on her back.
"So, what made you two want to check up on those three anyway?" Minia asked, as Kyubi crept up behind Minia and lightly patted Minia's face. Minia sighed and handed Kyubi her hotdog before Kyubi hopped back onto Minia's tails and bit into the hotdog.
"Well, Kusana wants to make sure they're doing ok... and also Kusana wants to get fish-flavoured dosa," Kusana stated as she slowly drifted towards the nearby dosa food stand. Minia sighed as she reached into her gelatin tails and pulled out three Copper Valt coins. Minia handed the coins to Kusana, and Kusana thanked her before she flew over to the dosa food stand.
"Brother, look it's the jelly-tailed kitsune lady," Mei-La said whilst she and Fei-Ku sat on Fei-Ku's tail as they floated over to Minia. Minia turned around to see Mei-La and Fei-Ku eating pancakes, along with Xinia approaching while carrying a ton of bags and festival bags filled with festival merch.
"What a coincidence, didn't expect to run into any of you lot here," Xinia said cheerfully. Kusana slithered through the air past Minia, holding three bagged dosas, and floated straight over to Mei-La and Fei-Ku. The kids happily talked amongst themselves, as Xinia stood next to Minia.
"Say... do you know what caused the city to go into complete lockdown?" Xinia asked. Minia slowly looked to the side and quietly hummed.
"I mean I do... but I'll probably have to omit some stuff.".
Meanwhile, Xero hovered above the wreckage of the Ancient Colossal and scanned it with his eye scanner. As he continued to scan the Ancient Colossal, a loud metalic clang caught Xero's attention, causing Xero to stop scanning. Xero surveyed the terrain and noticed a short figure obscured by the sun and covered by a purple glitchy effect walking atop the body of the Ancient Colossal without any issue.

Xero detector went off, and a green holographic pop-up appeared in front of his face with a warning symbol and a message saying the energy signature of the figure matched the recorded energy signature of the Ancient Colossal. The figure tilted their head before it swivelled around like an owl until their glowing magenta eyes (with a purple glitchy effect) locked with Xero. Xero instantly raised his hands in anticipation to flee but paused when the figure raised a hand and pleaded for him to wait; Xero calculated his options before deeming the figure as a low threat and lowering his arms.
"Thank you for hearing me out," the figure said with a young girly voice. The figure turned their body around until it was facing the same way as their body.
"What did I want to say? Well, I was wondering; do you know who took down the Ne-Lon Architecte Siphoner Construct?" the short figure asked. Xero tilted his head, causing the short figure to mirror his movement.
"Right... people of this era don't call them that.". The figure tapped their foot on the Ancient Colossal and gestured to it. The figure shot to an upright position.
"Wait, it was Zalroth? As in the holder of the Heavenly Key of Life and Creation?" The figure asked. Xero remained motionless for a second before raising his arms and shrugging, causing the figure to place their hands on their forehead.
"The... um... Crescent... Staff of The Moon?". Xero grabbed the holographic screen in front of him and tossed it to the figure. The figure looked at the screen and saw a picture of the Crescent Moon Staff.
"Yeah, that one," the figure said as she pointed at the holographic screen.
"So... do you know where Zalroth is, or at least where I'll be most likely to run into Zalroth?". Xero pointed his arm towards the flying airship carrier.

"I see... I'd hate to bother you any further, but would you mind taking me to see Zalroth?" the figure asked as they bowed.
Back in Talkia, Minia, Kusana, and Snow waved goodbye to Xinia, Mei-La and Fei-Ku as they waved back before they walked off. Minia glanced upwards before she sighed and rubbed her face.
"Alright, you two, we better head off Dad just contacted me and told us to get a move on," Minia stated as Kyubi watched Xinia and her sisters walking away and in particular the blueberry pancakes in Mei-La's hands. Kusana and Snow nodded before Kusana followed Minia.
As the girls made their way through the streets of Talkia, Snow gazed and watched the residents of Talkia going about their days as they were taking down their festival stands. Snow yawned and rested her head against Kusana, and as she was falling asleep her eyes shot open, and she lifted her head. Snow tapped Kusana's shoulder, and once she got Kusana's attention she pointed at a billboard filled with flyers.
"Could you go over there?" Snow whispered. Kusana nodded, and she swiftly flew over to the billboard. The girls stared at the billboard, with Kusana occasionally checking where Snow was looking to figure out what Snow was looking for. Snow reached out and plucked off a flyer before the duo stared at the flyer and excitedly gasped in unison. The flyer was for a rock concert tour called the Kuraikall Eruption.
"Kusana can't believe she's doing another tour so soon after the last one.".
"I know, and it says here her next stop will be at... Mal...far...othian Stadium in Delaureus on the twenty-fourth of Tilomary," Snow said as she struggled to read the stadium's name.
"I believe the doctor the grandmother of Kusana talked to mentioned the location called Delaureus when we were in the medical ward when they were doing a checkup on the adopted daughter of Minia," Kusana said as she inspected the flyer intently.
"Say... why do you always talk so strange-" Snow said but was interrupted by Minia talking.
"Hurry up, you two," Minia said as she stood by a lamppost while holding Kyubi in her arms, and Kyubi was reaching out to grab the lamppost. Kusana quickly spun around and flew away from the billboard while Snow folded up the flyer and stowed it in the pockets on the side of her boot.

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!
