《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 114: Switch In Style

Zalroth and Zalkutaro rocketed through the air and effortlessly pierced past the sound barrier, with the clouds appearing to race past the duo as they made a beeline for the Zelkio Empire's flying airship carrier.
"Looks like you weren't as tired as I-" Zalkutaro said before being interrupted by a piece of orange scuba goggles slapping him in the face.
"What, were you expecting an easy win over me?" Zalroth asked jokingly.
"Hardly," Zalkutaro replied as he removed the goggles from his face and tossed them at the scuba goose in a flock without any goggles. The duo smirked at each other before they ramped up their speeds and broke through the sound barrier.
On the airship carrier, Scarlett and Lola excitedly sprinted across the runway while laughing as they were chased by Kara and Destiny sitting atop a levitating raft made of red qi, being projected from the open Chronicle Codex.
"Hurry, Kara, they're gaining on us," Destiny exclaimed as she pointed out the increasing distance between them and the other two.
"The correct term would be they're getting away, Destiny," Kara stated as she looked down at the red qi raft before she patted it and a helm (boat steering wheel) formed from the raft. Kara grabbed the helm, jolted it forward, and the raft blasted onwards. Lola and Scarlett continued to evade Kara and Destiny before they blitzed past Prima and her siblings.
Lola ran up on a Zelkio knight and front-flipped over them before the qi raft swerved around the knight. Destiny grinned before disappearing from the qi raft. As Lola fell back to the floor, Destiny reappeared in front of Lola and caught her mid-air.
"You're it," Destiny proclaimed as she snuggled Lola before Scarlett darted in out of nowhere and tackled the both of them. The trio playfully laughed as Kara swooped in on the qi raft and used it to catch the trio.
"Fast...," Yumi murmured as she watched Lola and co laughing with a stoic stare.
"They sure are... I mean Lola, I think that's her name, is the daughter of that kitsune, mother mentioned, so it makes sense she's fast... but it's surprising how fast the kijin girl is-" Prima mentioned, but paused mid-sentence as she noticed Lola staring at her. Prima glanced to the side before back at Lola and was greeted by Lola being right in her face.
"Say... are you the girl from the forest?" Lola asked as she placed a hand on her chin and lightly hummed. Prima tilted her head, and Lola mirrored her movements.
"Yeah?".
"I thought you looked familiar," Lola said playfully as she clacked her finger joints together; but, as Lola looked upwards, her playful demeanour slowly faded. Lola silently stared at Yokuza as Yokuza was talking to Zuno. Lola raised a hand and placed it on Yokuza's leg, causing Yokuza to look down at her.

"Hey...," Lola said with a big cheeky grin on her face as she pulled her leg back, causing Yokuza to raise an eyebrow.
"... you're it!". Lola spun around on the spot and sprinted off while childishly giggling. Yokuza scratched his head as he watched Lola run away.
"What was that ab-". Yokuza looked around and realised Prima, Yumi, and Sapphire were gone.
"They ran off the moment Lola said: it," Callie stated as she pointed out the three sisters running away with Lola. Yokuza sighed as he fluttered his wings and flew after Lola and Co. Callie couldn't contain her smile as she watched the kids and a reluctant Yokuza play; however, a strong blast of wind blasted past Callie and flung her into the air before Zuno caught her with telekinesis.
Zalroth and Zalkutaro slammed their fist into the metallic-asphalt runway simultaneously.
"My word, would you look at that, yet another draw... I guess we'll have to split the punishment," Zalkutaro remarked as he stood up and balanced his dawnite harp on the tip of his finger.
"That is not how that works," Zalroth said, to which Zalkutaro chuckled before he whistled and made his dawnite harp disappear.
"Nooo!!" the voice of Nola echoed faintly from far away, causing Zalroth and Zalkutaro to flinch.
"You're on your own," Zalkutaro said before he jumped into the air, transformed into his kitsune cub form, and swan-dived into Zalroth's tails. Zalroth defeatedly exhaled and stowed the Crescent Moon Staff in his tail. Zalroth turned around and was met by Nola's fuming face glaring at him.
"Look I-". Zalroth paused for a second and noted Nola was wearing a large tuxedo candy cat-themed onesie with large cat ears and a tail.
"I definitely approve of this outfit over the previous one," Zalroth said, which threw Nola through a loop and completely derailed her rage train.
"I- oh, forget it...," Nola grumbled as she floated to the floor. Nola huffed and crossed her arms while sighing loudly. Zalroth placed his hand on Nola's head and ruffled her hair.
"Although I didn't want it to happen, I won't pretend I could have been more professional to avoid the clothes you gifted getting destroyed, but I promise I'll make it up to you," Zalroth said before he lifted his hand from Nola's hair.
"Oh yeah-" Nola said snarkily but was interrupted by Zalroth pulling Nola's hood over her face.
"I'm a man of mostly my word... cuz everybody lies occasionally," Zalroth remarked as Nola head-banged her onesie's hood off her head.
"And what do you intend to do?". Nola crossed her arms again as she couldn't stop her annoyed stricken face from occasionally showing a cocky grin. Zalroth smirked and turned away from Nola, causing Nola to uncross her arms and quickly rush in front of Zalroth again.

"Well, what is it?" Nola asked with an antsy tone as she rapidly ran on the spot.
"Who knows, maybe I'll finally finalise those mystical weapons I mentioned to you a few months ago," Zalroth said with a coy grin plastered on his face. Nola remained silent for a split second before her eyes filled up with stars, and she sprung around on the spot and cheered like a child, causing a few of the Zelkio guards to glance in her direction. Zarloth loudly coughed, and Nola took the hint and calmed down.
"S-sorry," Nola uttered before she reached out an arm and created a circular rainbow portal. Nola reached her whole upper body into the portal before she pulled out an assortment of clothing.
"Since you wrecked your... current clothing and never told me when your birthday is, I might as well give you these now," Nola said as she presented the stack of clothes to Zalroth.
"O-oh, you shouldn't have, but I can't really decline now can," Zalroth remarked.
"You wouldn't have refused either way, right?" Nola asked sternly as her eyes switched to silver-grey ones with a white lantern-shaped pupil. Zalroth grinned as Nola defeatedly sighed, and her eyes reverted to normal.
"Knowing you, even if you hated it, you'd still wear it just to appease me," Nola said as she turned away from Zalroth and yawned.
"Like the templar armour?". Nola spun on her heel and stared down Zalroth with a shocked expression on her face.
"Wait, you hated it?!". Zalroth shook his head while raising also waving a hand.
"Don't get me wrong, it looked amazing, but my way of fighting doesn't meld well with that kind of armour; that's why I introduced you to the clothing manufacturing method using stretchy fabric metals," Zalroth stated, making Nola relievedly sigh and slightly blush.
"Just take the clothes already," Lola muttered as she placed the clothes on Zalroth's tails. Zalroth chuckled to himself as the end of the Crescent Moon Staff popped out of his tails and sent out a dark lavender glow. A pitch-black portal with a dark lavender glow formed next to Zalroth before the staff retracted into his tails.
"Just give me a second to change.". Zalroth strolled through the pitch-black portal before immediately exiting the portal wearing completely different clothes apart from his silverwood getas and the portal closing. Zalroth looked at his new clothing and confidently nodded at it: a skintight darksteel threaded full-body (apart from arms) spandex suit and baggy white trousers.
"Minimal and simple," Zalroth mentioned as he wiggled his fingers while Nola glared at Zalroth's getas before up at Zalroth.
"Say, Dad, are you ever going to tell me why of all things your getas are seemingly indestructible?" Nola asked as she carried a folded-up white fur mage robe.
"If I did, would you try to make clothing from the material?". Nola nodded her head profusely until she started to wobble from the disorientation. Zalroth shook his head as Nola slowly regained her sense of balance.
"They're made from silverwood," Zalroth said calmly.
"You mean those trees that are everywhere in Aivikkra?" Nola asked. Zalroth nodded his head.
"But the method to get them to this strength is on the level of trying to build a skyscraper using only a hex key," Zalroth remarked, causing Nola's face to cringe slightly.
"For reals?" Nola asked.
"For reals.". Nola looked to the side before she flapped the white fur mage robe around until it fully unwound and revealed its odd shape (the bottom half is normal, it has a belt-like fur protrusion around the waist area, and the top half below the metal shoulder guards is none existent, apart from a wide strip connecting the hood to the lower half of the robe). Nola handed Zalroth the robe before she took a step back.
"Care to walk me through this... wizard's robe?". Nola nodded.
"So, basically, I saw this MC from a manga and thought his wizard robe looked cool, so I made one similar to it.". Zalroth shrugged before putting the robe on and tieing the fur pertusions together.
"If I'm remembering correctly, with this outfit you've gifted me all the classes common in the hero party of RPG games," Zalroth remarked as he straightened out the fur robe.
"Yeah... I guess you're right... knight/swordsman, cleric, paladin/tank, archer, and wizard," Nola replied. As Nola continued to ponder how she never noticed the theming gimmick of a few of the clothes she gave to Zalroth, Zalroth glanced around the flying airship carrier's runway.
"Say... where are Minia, Kyubi, Snow, and Kusana?" Zalroth asked as he looked back at Nola.
"Well, as for Minia, she wanted to head to the Talkia to get some local food, and as for Snow and Kusana, they went with her since they wanted to check up on... erm... what was there- oh yeah, Xinia, Mei, and Fei," Nola explained.
"Oh. Well, I hope they don't take too long," Zalroth mentioned as all the egos/visages in their small animal forms landed on Zalroth's tails.
Lola, covered in Lightning Amp lightning for a split second, bolted between Zalroth and Nola before gazing upon Zalroth's new attire with dazzled starry eyes. Lola spun around and excitedly pointed at Zalroth as she stared into Nola's eyes with puppy dog eyes. Nola sighed and flapped her right hand.
"Fine... I'll make you something too...," Nola muttered; however, she slowly glanced to the side to see Destiny and the other kids staring at her.
"And you lot, too, I guess.".

Time Can't Heal This
I've always hated the saying "Time heals all wounds." Maybe in most cases that may be true. In my experience with life and pain however, time has only ever bled out the wound. The scars that the wounds left behind though, are often so deep that just looking at them becomes painful to the mind. Time only heals what you let go of. Sometimes letting go and moving on just doesn't feel possible; no matter how much time you let pass you by.These poems signify what time hasn't healed for me.
