《Marauding Gods (First Draft)》Chapter 247:

It was nighttime. Escorted by Ina and her teleporter friend, Ana arrived at the doorsteps of her mansion.

"So this is where you live, princess?"

"Yeah."

"Truly a princess house," she mocked.

"Stop mocking me like that; this day has been shitty enough as it is."

"Well, sorry, I guess. You’re okay?"

"Yes, my wounds have all been healed by your friend," Ana replied.

"She was not my friend, and no, that was not what I was asking about. How are you holding up mentally?"

Ana cast a suspicious glance at the girl in response to her concern about Ana's mental state, but noticed that her concern was genuine.

"Sigh, I don’t know. I don’t think I would ever be able to forget what had happened."

"I don’t think you’re supposed to forget about it."

"But I want to; I feel like I have to." Murmuring so as not to be overheard, Ana said, "we've killed a man."

"Then forget about it."

"So do I forget about it or not? Which one is it?"

"That princess, I don’t know. I’d say the one that makes you sleep at night."

"How do you do this?" Ana asked the girl who went through the same thing as her yet seemed to be holding it perfectly fine, "How do you hold it so well when…"

"When?"

"You know… I understand that you are a member of the aristocracy, and a quite high-ranked one from what I could see," Ana remarked, casting a glance at the boy wielding teleportation magic, "but you’re neither... a noble nor a aina-user, how do you do?"

"So if I get what you mean as someone who is neither, a mere commoner, it’s abnormal that I am holding so well."

"No, I mean yes. You know exactly what I mean. Don’t make me feel more miserable than I already feel."

Smiling teasingly, "Loosen up, Princess; if I were to give advice, the first step would be to loosen up," Ina suggested.

Taking her comrade of fortune’s advice to the letter, Ana, in her own way, tried to loosen up.

"Feeling better?"

"Still miserable, but yes."

"That’s a good enough beginning."

"So what’s the next step?"

"The next step would be to figure out what you believe you should do or want to do." "Do you think it would be better for you to forget what happened today and go on with your life as if it never happened, or to remember it and simply live with that memory for the rest of your life?"

Ana pondered both options presented to her in silence for a moment.

"So which one will it be?"

"Call me a coward, but I would like to forget about all of this. I am no one, not as special as some people are, not as strong-willed as you are, yet I am under the clear impression that today I’ve seen and done too much. I think the best thing for the coward that I am is to forget about what happened today."

"There's nothing cowardly about that," the girl reassured, awkwardly reaching for Ana's shoulder. "If you feel that is the best course of action for you, then that must be the case. I can but respect that."

"Shania? That’s what they called you. Is that your true name?"

"Yes, it is."

"Then Shania," Ana started, holding her left arm out toward Shania. "Though I would like to forget about today’s event, there are things I wouldn’t like to forget about this entire series of events: people I've met and lessons I’ve learned."

"What?" asked the confused Shania.

"I know this will be a very strange thing to ask since your friend had just healed me up, but can you have it so I won’t forget either, or at least won’t for at least 10 weeks?"
