《Judah Judas Adventures》Chapter 124 - First retriever - Part 4

After about three minutes of intense fighting against that Cirpianus, we were pinned down by his spikes. I had two of them into my arms and one was close to hit my shoulder, but Garnet was not as hurt as I look since Cirpianus was trying not to hurt her. But she still managed to get a spike into her left arm.
We are at three feet distance from Cirpianus who is transforming his left arm into a big spike who will most likely use it as a sword than trying to use as a projectile to us. I am preparing to throw a shield spell to myself, only of the other spells I am able to protect myself. I choose to use this spell because it was the first spell it came to mind when Ciprianus was close to me with that thing. The spell managed to protect me from the first three swings, but when this assassin did the fourth, my shield spell broke down, and I dodged the fifth swing. It was extremely close to die there, but I did it.
Cirpianus jumped on my direction, prepared to slain me, but then, I remember a spell I can use even without my wand or a staff. I raised my hand as quickly as possible to Cipirianus and I said with a loud tone "Stun". And the assassin got stopped in the mid-air, this gave me a few seconds to run into the other direction and finally cast my battle skill, Berserk. After "Stun" spell wore the effect, Ciprianus came back into his senses and run to me, while I black out because of this spell.
Now this, will be a big gamble.

Judah it is fighting against an assassin named Cirpianus, one of the seventh assassins of family Yugara. Garnet it is staying in a defence position at a distance from both of them, she is looking at Judah who's charging into that assassin who's older than him and is having a lot more experience than a squire who's working in this domain for about one year.

Ciprianus is using his spikes as a weapon to try and fight Judah who's only having one single dagger. He thought it will be easy to defeat that man, but he was wrong because Judah showed to the enemy how much he can handle in a fight, especially in one where the life of a close friend it is in danger. Yes, Judah consider Garnet as a friend, even though she is supposed to be a girl captive, but she is actually cool with all of this since her family was trying to use her as an appointive.
Judah was trying to stab Ciprianus, but his tough skin made this thing to seem impossible. He tried two times to stab his chest and upper body, and one single time was trying to stab the man back, but it didn't worked out. And this attempt has given Judah a blast to himself. Ciprianus used a hard hit on Judah with his fists who send the squire at about seven feet distance from him. Judah immediately came back to his senses, and this made the assassin impressed.
"Impressive. But not enough." he aims his right hand with a dozen of spikes at Judah, and he was about to shoot, but then everything has stopped, even Judah and the birds on the sky.
Garnet has activated her unique battle skill, "Time Freeze". This battle skill is allowing Garnet, or anyone else who posses such a powerful skill, to stop the time, but this one comes with a risk, it can make the person to cough blood and fell into a deep sleep for a day or two. Garnet accepted this risk, and she is running to the direction where the spikes should've hit Judah, she took all twelve of them and aimed them back at Ciprianus. Then, she goes a few meters back and stopped her battle skill before she was about to collapse on her knees. This is the second time she used her battle skill. Something she has never done before.

When the time came back, the spikes hit Ciprianus face and upper body, and all of them pierced his body, and made him fall on the knees. He is looking astonished at Judah with his red eyes and with a thirst for human blood. He is about to piece the poor man in the head, but Judah sopped before he was about to do that. He puts his dagger down, he stands in front of that assassin pierced with his own weapons, and he asked him.
"Your weakness are your own weapon."
"...Y-You are right." says Ciprianus to Judah while his blood is going out from his mouth. "W-Would finish me already?"
"Yes." says Judah taking a spike from the man upper body and use it to stab the poor assassin head.
As soon as he did that violent move, the assassin fell on the ground where Garnet, Ulfred and Judah used to collect fruits to send them to their home to use it at preparing something sweet to eat. The corpse of Cirpianus is laying on the ground, even at the time when Ulfred came back with the cart, and when he did that, he also saw Judah who has fainted at three steps distance from Ciprianus body. Good luck with Garnet who was still alive there, and she told Ulfred everything about this encounter they were having. She lied to him.
"The man here it is a bounty hunter." says Garnet to Ulfred. "My family was most likely putting a reward on my head to bring me. But we managed to defeat this man, and that is thanks to Judah."
"Judah did manage to put the man down by himself?" asks as he was approaching the corpse and took a careful look around it to be sure it is dead. "This squire is truly going to become a powerful knight one day. Where he is anyway?"
"There." says Garnet pointing at Judah who is sitting on the ground with his face, sleeping like a drunk man on a hole.
"Judah? Judah!" says Ulfred running to Judah body and checking to see if the boy is still alive, and when Ulfred find that the boy he breathes, he does a sigh of relief because if the boy would've died, Fiona would most likely jumped on him. "Thank goodness, he is alive."
"Yeah..."
"We have to deal with this man first." says Ulfred going to the corpse of that man, and he inspects him. "This man it is a one of the races who are not regular on these areas. We have to be thrown into the river. Would you help me?"
"Y-Y-Yeah." says Garnet who's feeling extremely scared.
Garnet took the legs of the corpse, while Ulfred is taking the hands. These two people are carrying the corpse to the nearest river and from there, they are throwing the body into that water. And when he did it, they are running to their carts, loading him with apples and pears crates, then they are heading with the cart back to their home, feeling nervous and anxious of the things they were doing it.

The Priest of Genes
Meet Seth, acolyte in the Church of Virtue. He’ll be a Priest like his father soon, he just knows it. Sure he didn’t inherit his mother’s preaching power, but he doesn’t mind being the secondary priest at whatever temple he is assigned to. Just as long as he has a library. Meet this genetics textbook. Hmm, that doesn’t belong here. It must have come from somewhere far away, I guess something happened to its owner. I’m sure a studious young man who likes healing could go far with this information, whether he wants to or not. This is my first time really writing anything, so I hope you like it! Please let me know if I make any mistakes; I have a new R&D tech job at a genomics company, so I probably don’t edit as much as some people. I’m shooting for two thousand-ish word chapters released on Sundays, since none of the webnovels I read ever seem to update that day. Underserved Market! Genre is fantasy, possibly progression fantasy. Maybe a tiny bit litRPG if you wait a while and squint really hard, but that’s the most I’m prepared to claim. Hedged my bets on the content warnings, nothing that bad. Cover art from A. W. Gelman
