Arthur's Point of View
Pendragon Estate
My eye twitched as I was once again going about my day before it was interrupted by Elincia. Another week had passed since The Festival of Lights. Everyone was still in my house even though we had received word they should be able to return. You’d think that they would keep intruders out since I was being nice enough to let all of them stay. Yet, here was Elincia in my office with Typhon. Marina was next to me as I stared at them from the doorway.
“Who keeps letting you in here?” I asked aloud.
Elincia smirked as she sat behind my desk again. “Not many would refuse me entry.”
I turned to Marina. “Spread the word that Elincia, and especially Arceana, need to wait for my permission to be invited inside.”
“I believe it was Lucia who led her here.” Marina told me, and I turned to see Elincia’s smirk grow.
“Tell Lucia to take her to the kitchen or living room if she absolutely needs to let Elincia in.” I replied with a roll of my eyes.
“Stop being so sensitive.” Elincia told me. “Is there something in here I’m not supposed to see?”
I shrugged. “Not yet, but maybe in the future. That’s the point.”
The Priestess looked amused more than anything. “Very well, I will stop intruding in your office until I am invited. Nothing in here worth note aside from this dagger.” She gestured to the Leviathan tooth. “This is a very sturdy desk to be able to withstand its weight.”
“That tooth is little more than a paper weight. It would’ve been better used as a statue or a pool. Part of me wanted to carve it into something myself, but you and your sister’s liberties took such an experience from me.”

She rolled her eyes at that. “Apologies for ruining it. We thought a warrior such as yourself would enjoy such a weapon. Even if only in decoration. Your swordsmanship is truly outstanding. Maybe a sword would’ve been better?” Elincia suggested as she looked at me.
I crossed my arms. “Pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but there’s a reason I haven’t taught Typhon how to use a sword. It’s mostly a whacking stick for me or used to deflect other weapons. A knife is definitely a more suited weapon for me, and I’ve taught others how to use a blade in the past, but that was mostly passing on what little I actually do know.”
Marina snorted in amusement at the look of disbelief on Elincia’s face. “Surely you don’t expect me to believe such a claim? I’ve witnessed you in combat. I have faced you in battle and your skills are extraordinary.”
“Just goes to show when you’re that much stronger than someone else, anything looks like skill.” There was some skill there, but I definitely wasn’t the sword master that people thought I was. “Now, why are you two here?”
“We came to visit because Typhon wants to start his training back up.” She said as she gestured towards the boy. “He was worried that it would continue to be put on hold. Your schedule has been erratic.”
“I’ve been dealing with several guests.” Was my dry reply.
“Yes. Speaking of, when are they planning to return. General Kheri has been trying to fill in where she can, but Alwin Farro is sorely missed. Captain Greigh Nasa and Sergeant Ziah Tib are also needed.” Elincia pointed out. “And there’s still quite a bit of time before Captain Allen Harlow returns.”

I shrugged. “You’ll have to speak to them directly. I’m no longer your knight.” That made Ty’s expression turn to surprise. “If the others don’t want to return, that’s on them. Same with your students. They might not feel safe around Arceana anymore. Especially given Ayda’s and Cassidy’s little stunt they pulled with runes.”
Elincia nodded slowly at that. “…And what of Lucia?”
My jaw tightened at that for a moment. “It will be her decision. She is more than welcome to stay as she is to return to the Temple. There will always be a place for her here, but I know better than to act like a father so suddenly when I wasn’t there for her growing up. I lost that right.”
The Priestess seemed conflicted. “Have you discussed that with her?”
“If she comes to me, I’m more than willing to discuss almost anything, but I don’t want to burden her either. The choice will be hers, and hers alone, Elincia.”
“Very well.” Elincia replied understanding my words. “Are you still willing to train Typhon despite your renounced status and title?”
“I am, and I have no plans to stop.” My attention turned back to the boy. “He is vital to moving forward.”

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

The Adventures of Alan
What happens when a university professor somehow ends up in another world, where magic bends the laws of nature? Alan is, albeit unwillingly, about to find out. As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.
