Chapter 23-24

Chapter Twenty-Three:

Zhen Zhen woke up and fell off the bed .

She thought last night was a dream . But the shiny gold card meant Yue Gu Zai did stand in the rain last night, and slept on the bed together with her .

San Mac rang Zhen Zhen . He used the excuse of their graduate class reunion to meet up with Zhen Zhen .

Zhen Zhen was known as the beautiful prodigy in college . Most of her female classmates were jealous of her, and made her an outcast . While she was too preoccupied with practical research assignments to notice her male classmates had crushes on her, especially San Mac .

Zhen Zhen roped Nan Ma to come to the class reunion for moral support .

Chapter Twenty-Four Summary:

Zhen Zhen’s former female classmates made snide remarks to put Zhen Zhen down . Zhen Zhen cried in the toilet until Nan Ma arrived at the restaurant .

Zhen Zhen re-joined the dinner table . San Mac knelt in front of Zhen Zhen, held a bouquet of roses and he made a public love confession to Zhen Zhen .

‘But… I… you… I have a son,’ Zhen Zhen mumbled .

The bitchy classmates called Zhen Zhen a liar .

‘How many years have you been using the same excuse to reject big brother San Mac?’ one of the bitches asked . ‘Your ‘son’ should be 5 or 6 now . Why haven’t any of us met your son before?’

San Mac pressured Zhen Zhen to accept his love confession .

‘Zhen Zhen, will you be my girlfriend?’ San Mac asked .

‘Hurry up and say you’ll be big brother’s girlfriend,’ a bitch said .

Suddenly Cheng Yi showed up at the restaurant .

‘What a lively get together,’ Cheng Yi said sarcastically . ‘Am I intruding?’

Zhen Zhen was scared shitless . If Cheng Yi showed up, it meant Yue Gu Zai wasn’t far from the restaurant .

‘Why are you here?’ Zhen Zhen asked Cheng Yi .

‘Boss asked me to prepare gifts for Miss Zhen Zhen’s college friends,’ Cheng Yi said .

Cheng Yi passed around expensive gifts, stood and pretended to leave .

‘Oh, I forgot,’ Cheng Yi lied . ‘Boss wants me to tell Miss Zhen Zhen, he hopes you’ll have a good time . ’

Zhen Zhen was beyond scared .

‘Cheng Yi…’ Zhen Zhen pleaded Cheng Yi .

‘Miss Zhen Zhen, do you have a request?’ Cheng Yi taunted .

‘Wait for me outside,’ Zhen Zhen said .

‘OK,’ Cheng Yi said .

After Cheng Yi left, everyone at the dinner table was silent .

‘San Mac, let’s talk outside,’ Zhen Zhen whispered, but everyone heard .

Outside Zhen Zhen and San Mac stood in a quiet spot .

‘Do you really have a son?’ San Mac asked Zhen Zhen .

‘Um, I took a year off during college to give birth to my son,’ Zhen Zhen said .

‘That year, professor said you were studying overseas,’ San Mac said .

‘San Mac… I…’ Zhen Zhen mumbled .

‘Are we still friends?’ San Mac asked dejectedly .

‘Um,’ Zhen Zhen said and relieved San Mac stopped pressuring her .

‘You should go,’ San Mac said . He pointed at Cheng Yi . ‘He’s been waiting for you a long time . ’

‘What about you?’ Zhen Zhen asked .

Zhen Zhen could only look apologetically at San Mac, and leave with Cheng Yi .

Cheng Yi escorted Zhen Zhen to a secret adjoining building to the restaurant .

‘Miss Zhen Zhen, you should be worrying about yourself,’ Cheng Yi said .

‘What is there for me to worry about?’ Zhen Zhen asked .

‘Boss saw everything that happened inside the restaurant from the security camera,’ Cheng Yi said .

‘Everything?’ Zhen Zhen asked .

‘Um, everything,’ Cheng Yi said . ‘Including another man kneeling in front of you and offering you a bouquet of roses . ’

‘Cheng Yi…’ Zhen Zhen pleaded .

‘Yes?’ Cheng Yi asked .

‘You can stop taunting me,’ Zhen Zhen said .

‘OK, you’re right,’ Cheng Yi confessed . ‘I’ll stop . ’

Inside the secret building, Yue Gu Zai was glaring at a big security screen . Bai Yu Tian and Huyen Di were standing behind Yue Gu Zai and giving Zhen Zhen pity looks .

Zhen Zhen looked nervously at the screen . She was surprised to see live footage of Chu Gian standing in front of a rival gang surrounded at gun point .

‘The weapons are in Las Vegas,’ Mr Jin said . ‘If you want more news, it’ll cost you 50 million . ’

‘It depends if Mr Jin’s news is worth that much,’ Chu Gian said .

After a failed negotiation, Zhen Zhen chased after an angry Yue Gu Zai . She didn’t walk fast enough . So he wrapped an arm around her waist and escorted her to the car .

Everyone at the restaurant was looking out the window, and they saw the way Yu Gu Zai was protective of Zhen Zhen until they disappeared in the car .
