Mageborne - Introduction

Mages come in various types and are created in differing circumstances. Those that deliberately awaken their latent magical talent are the most common in modern-day Kyro, but they were not the first nor are theirs the only means to acquiring magic. There are those that had magic thrust upon them without a choice. Awakened through necessity rather than deliberation. The mageborne. Though, sometimes the necessity is sought out deliberately.

Mageborne - Mage (practitioner of magic) + Borne (Transmitted by). Mageborne is different from magic-borne, a disease transmitted by a magical being (a curse or hex). Though some would say otherwise.

Mageborne come into fruition in various circumstances. Being chased by a magical beast, attacked by a mage, or haunted by a ghost, any scenario in which a person is exposed to magic and or is in a life or death scenario will have a slight possibility to awaken their magic. Slight chance is more of an overstatement. Nine times out of ten, they'll probably succumb to whatever situation befell them, and even if they awaken, they'll still most likely die to the circumstances that led to their awakening.

Mageborne can be categorized by the very thing that birthed or awakened their magic. Mages awakened by beasts are known as beastborne, and so forth. Mageborne are not entirely binary or defined in their categories since there is overlap. Some may be awakened after surviving an attack from a magical beast and by being recognized by the Aether itself.
