《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 779 The Undead War Part 9

There are at most a couple of thousand of them left, they won't last much longer. Once they are dead the number of undead will finally stop increasing. Then, Bones just needs to finish wiping out the existing ones, he should be able to do it by morning.
He has a full day and the more energy he steals the stronger he will become. The only unknown is if the undead will try to leave once all the murlocs are dead. If they do then Bones' killing rate will drop at least a little bit since he will have to chase them.
To alter the odds I increase the amount of lifeforce attached to Bones. This lures more of the undead to attack him and takes some pressure off the murlocs. Not enough to save them, just enough to lower the number of undead left when they fall.
This way there should be less chance of them ignoring Bones and running away. The increased pressure on Bones doesn't bother him, if anything he is enjoying it. Now all that is left for me to do is sit around watching Bones fight until something changes.
Of course, if I just sit around doing nothing I will die of boredom, so I start studying Bones. Specifically how the link between us is anchored into him and how I could remove it. I have no plan to mess with it yet, but the more I know the easier it will be later.
As I intensely study the connection I notice something odd, it seems to have gotten stronger recently. Since it is directly linked to my soul it is probably because I raised my soul's level. Meaning I should avoid leveling up anymore until after I have figured out how to free Bones.
Otherwise I am just going to be making it harder to free him and failing might destroy him. While I am a little reluctant to stop exploring the hall, it isn't like I am in a rush. Well, it isn't that I have to completely stop exploring, I just need to avoid hunting.

As long as I don't level up it should be fine to go back and clear up more battlefields. I can also scout out new doors, I just need to be sneaky about it and not fight. I will figure all that out later, right now I focus on studying the connection to Bones.
The connection will need to be broken on his side, on my side it is deep in my soul. I don't even want to imagine the amount of damage trying to dig it out would do. Not to mention if I damage my soul again the goddesses will be unhappy to say the least.
As I am studying the connection another surge of energy goes into Bones' bones. Since I am paying attention this time I can see the process and how much energy is being wasted. The energy seems to be bleeding off because his bones can't absorb it fast enough.
Bones can enhance his bones by eating the bones of other creatures, I have watched it happen. The problem is that while he was being trained by Vacker he probably didn't have any bones to eat. If I can find a way to help his bones improve then he will be able to get stronger faster.
"Bones, I am going to try to do something to make it easier for you to get stronger. It might hurt, a lot."
Bones says "That's fine. Just do it."
The shelf I created is covered in the bodies of the undead, most of them headless. There is no trace of the energy of unlife, but they are decaying at an advanced speed. If Bones were to eat the bones of one undead it would have no effect at all.
However, if he were to eat thousands of them then it would probably have an effect. What I want to do is figure out how to break down the bodies and only keep what Bones needs. So, I look at a body near where I am sitting and send my mana into it.

Using my mana I focus on the bones of the body and scan them thoroughly. There is no energy left in the bones and they are decomposing quickly. However, when I look deeper I find what I would call the essence of the bones.
It is just a guess, but I am hoping that this is what Bones absorbs to improve himself. Pulling it out of the body only yields a tiny amount, not even as much as a raindrop. As soon as it is removed the body turns into dust in seconds and dissolves in the water.
The first one took me a couple of minutes, but now I know what I am looking for. So each body after that goes faster and faster, until it only takes a second per body. At the end of an hour I have a ball of essence about the size of a baseball.
"Here, Bones, eat this."
Bones doesn't stop fighting, he just opens his mouth and allows me to throw the energy inside. As he chews and swallows the energy I carefully watch his body to see what happens. I was right, the essence merges with his bones and improves them slightly.
The improvement is tiny, only about a one percent increase in strength. However, every little bit helps and there are plenty of bodies around for me to take the essence from. Besides, it is better than sitting around doing nothing and being bored.
Of course, not all the bodies are useful, a lot of them have already decayed to the point that the essence is gone. However, there are still plenty of bodies around, with Bones adding more constantly. Now that I have figured out the trick to it, gathering the essence doesn't take much mana.
So, I swim around gathering the essence as fast as I can, trying to get to the bodies before they rot too much. This time I keep going until the ball of essence is about the size of a basketball. Then, out of curiosity, I take out a single Origin Energy and try adding it to the essence.
The essence in its natural state is milky white and acts a lot like a liquid. However, when I add in the Origin Energy it completely changes, now looking like a ball of white fire. I am a little worried that it might do something weird to Bones, but I tell him to eat it anyway.
Since there is a lot more this time it takes Bones several bites to eat all of it. From the look on his face it is painful, but that doesn't stop him from eating all of it. Of course, I am watching what happens with my mana to satisfy my curiosity.
Based on how big the ball of essence was I was expecting about a five percent improvement. However, thanks to the Origin Energy Bones ends up getting about a fifteen percent improvement to his bones. Also, at the same time his bones are improving I notice they are spitting out tiny black flecks.
I have no idea if that is a bonus from the energy or just normal due to improvement. As far as I can tell the little black flecks are impurities being removed from his bones. Whatever the case may be, it is obvious that the energy improves the essence a lot, maybe about triple.
