《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 772 The Undead War Part 2

If there are too many of the murlocs, then the maker will grow more powerful. If the maker gets too powerful then I am not sure if anyone will be able to stop her. This is also my fault, I was counting on the maker continuing to attack the humans.
She not only didn't do what I expected, she also found a race to attack that I missed. This is the east side of the island, the elves should have known about these things. However, I am fairly sure that if they knew about it they would have mentioned them.
If there are tens of thousands of these murloc things then this could be a serious problem. Not only because the humans won't be able to hold on, but because these things can swim. If they can still swim after being turned into undead then the ocean won't stop the undead anymore.
That was the whole reason that I went through the mountains hunting flying beasts. As much as I don't want to, I am probably going to have to step in and stop the maker. Or at least weaken her enough that I don't have to worry about her anymore.
Since I released her, I have to take responsibility and at least weaken her enough to give the humans a chance. To see what I am up against I create a small eye with mana and send it into the water. I could just go swimming, but I would prefer to not be noticed if possible.
Since the eye is made of mana and has no lifeforce the undead completely ignore it. Some of the creatures notice it but I don't really care about them right now. The only thing I care about in regards to the creatures is their numbers, which turn out to be huge.
The underwater battle stretches on for miles and there are hundreds of thousands of the creatures. In fact, they currently outnumber the undead, but they are still losing. Right now they are only slowly losing, but the speed is slowly increasing as more of them turn into undead.

If given a half a day the undead will come to outnumber the creatures. At that point there will be no stopping them, so I need to do something before then. I could just use Holy Light to wipe out the undead, but that would also wipe out the ancients.
The energy of the ancients would then go back to the maker and I won't have a chance to steal it. If possible I would like to avoid that since it would just make the maker stronger. Besides, I don't want to pass up a chance to steal more energy to play with.
So, I need to find a way to either lure the ancients out, or wipe out only the normal undead. Then again, I could just wipe them all out for the exp and worry about the maker later. However, that seems rather short sighted, the maker is the real problem.
Without her, even if all these creatures become undead, it won't be a big deal. The energy in the ancient undead is the maker's unlife energy, but what is in the normal undead? There has to be something animating them, but if it is the maker's unlife energy then I should be able to steal it.
The main difference between the ancient undead and the normal undead is the amount of energy. The ancient zombies and skeletons have a single energy so I am able to track it leaving them. The normal undead have a lot less than that, that should be why I can't track it.
If that is how it works, that explains how the maker gets stronger, she uses the undead as planters. She animates them with a small seed of energy, then it grows within the undead over time. What doesn't make sense is that the maker only regains the power when the undead are defeated.

Then again, since she doesn't fight directly, having her power dispersed isn't a problem. If her army does get wiped out her power would skyrocket and then she could fight at full power. This involves a lot of guesswork, but I think I am getting closer to understanding her.
To test my theory I land on the beach, shapeshift, take out the warhammer, and start killing undead. The normal undead are pathetically easy for me to destroy, even in groups. In fact I can kill two or three in a single swing if they are close enough to each other.
Finally after killing about two hundred or so normal undead I get a single Origin Energy. So, at least part of my theory is correct and now I have another way to steal energy. It is time consuming, and because I am using the hammer I don't get exp, but it is worth it.
Not only do I get to steal energy, but in killing the normal undead I tilt the odds of the war. It is just really boring since the normal undead pose no threat to me at all. The creatures leave me alone, probably because I am killing their enemies.
I keep killing the undead even though it is really boring, while my mind wanders. I am actually trying to think of a way to do this without it being so boring. My main idea would be to figure out how to create an avatar or clone to do the work for me.
Unfortunately, my knowledge of magic is too shallow, I have no idea how to do either. While playing around I do find that I can move the hammer around with mana and still steal energy. At that point I stop moving and just stand there as the hammer flies around crushing heads.
Surprisingly, even when I move further away from the hammer it still sends me energy. After some testing I find that as long as I am within a thousand feet of the hammer it still works. I could probably increase the range with another enchantment, but the hammer is full.
Then I think of the ship and how I used gem dust to increase the room for enchants. In fact, if I do that I can probably add enchantments to make it easier to move it around with mana. While I am at it there is no reason I couldn't create another hammer to increase the efficiency.
Of course, doing that would require materials I don't currently have, but I know where to get them. I have actually been curious about how the island is now that the maker has left. The only problem is that if I leave then the undead will win this war and increase their numbers too much.
Of course, if I could be in two places at once that would solve the problem. This brings me full circle back to my original problem that I have no way of solving. I can't ask the goddesses because the way they create avatars is different from magic.
I also don't think the magic that the humans or elves know is that advanced. The only one who might have knowledge about it is Yui, but I can't talk to her in the soulscape. Looks like this is something else that I will have to wait to research when I get back to the peninsula.

Magic. Math. Not a whole lot of context. Two months ago, I was a wormhole navigator, ripping open a hole in the universe to save a ship of people who only vaguely tolerated me. Two weeks ago, long story short, I threaded an impossible path through the void between dimensions to crash-land into a dungeon. You know the kind: monsters to defeat, corridors full of traps to avoid, and magical powers to earn. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been two weeks of loneliness, fear, adrenaline, and constant injury. But I'll make it out of here by myself if I have to, or my name isn't Adam Leviathan James. ... too bad the Levi doesn't stand for Leviathan, huh. AN: Expectations should include in medias res, violence, smut, friendship, and powers/progression systems with absolutely an insufficiency of context and (at least at first) no definitions or explanations, and magic-as-programming/engineering (with something of an emphasis on "what if magical runework were an analogue to circuit diagrams"). AV Online was just a flash in the pan—a harsh, experimental land which lost most of its players in mere weeks. Only the dedicated few remained, carving out their destinies in corners of the vast abandoned world. Lily Quinn wasn't one of them. With a career worth millions in the esports world, she didn't have time for a game like Avo—but when an exclusive beta test for the new version showed up on her doorstep, she couldn't say no… as much as she wanted to. Literally hooked into the simulation, Lily reluctantly entered a world beyond anything she'd ever dreamed of. Accompanied by seven other beta testers desperate to save their beloved game, Lily dives into a vibrant, beautiful world, where mystery and adventure waits around every corner. Despite her reservations, Lily finds a joyful escape in Avo, shattering her cold, hollow reality. It was just a game though… until the group discovered they couldn't log out. Trapped in a game with no rules, and surrounded by cutthroat players eager to kill for a quick windfall, Lily and her ragged band have no choice but to fight their way out, or die in a game that has turned all too real. Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published!
