《Checkpoint》CH 6: Mark gets an Information dump

Mark POV, Wednesday
Mark was currently hunched over a filing cabinet in the records room of the abandoned police station that was now acting as a base camp for the survivors. Ever since the release of the new monsters, all patrols had been suspended until these new creatures were studied enough to find a counter to them. It was because of this suspension, that Mark had the time to research the man he had been seeing visions of the last few days.
He was sifting through the G section when he blinked and found himself standing in the hallway; time had reverted again. Mark silently counted down to himself and as if on cue, images of the mysterious man getting overrun by the new spike-slinging Beatles, nicknamed "Spikers" by many, and subsequently dying. Mark sighed, getting odd glances from the other people in the hallway. The identity of the mysterious man was starting to get on his nerves.
Deciding it was not worth going back to the records room, Mark turned around and changed his route to his bunk instead. Upon arriving at his bunk, Mark promptly sat on his bed and began to think. His thoughts did not last long because it seems this novel does not like to let people be alone with their thoughts. And as if to prove it, a message appeared in front of Mark’s vision, startling him from his thoughts.

Mark blinked a couple times, trying to digest the burst of new information given to him. Throughout all of the information given, one part stood out to him the most; “investigating a fugitive of the law”. He had an epiphany, and not wanting to lose the idea he immediately took out his laptop and searched for arrests in the last 20 years that fit the mystery man’s description. Surprisingly, it did not take long for him to find what he was looking for, and in front of him was an open article reading:
Mob hitman, Malcolm Shellings, sentenced to life imprisonment with no appeal.

Our Chaoz; Our Reality (Completed)
Everyone has their own reasons, be it past events, personality or simply company. But most at some point divulge themselves into videogaming, be it for entertainment or more compettitive reasons. In this year and age there are many genres of gaming, one specific genre though still holds on tight to the ledge it was pushed to trying to pull itself back up. MMORPGs were once the top of everybody's list, adventure, combat, storytelling and endless grind in one single game. It was a different life for most, as if a parallel world to our own. You could be a knight indulging yourself in combat, a mage expertly crafting spells of mass destruction or creation. A ranger exploring the land and hunting down prey, an assassin completing contracts and hording the spoils. A troll scamming children out of their hard earned 10 gold and making more hardcore players rage quit for the day. Or something else. Kyle was a simple player, he always picked the strangest classes or jobs and his characters almost looked the same. He played for the combat, he played for the grind and he played for his guild but above all he played for the story. Kyle is a roleplayer, one who enjoys the simple parts of this virtual life. Whether his guild was starting a war or ending one he'd always have his drammatic entrence or exit, his decleration of annihalition or demand of surrender. After all that? He divulged himself in the game's story, the interaction with NPCS (Non Player Characters) and their advanced AI. He went through many questlines, many tales of heroics and many more adventurers of legend but one thing always remained true with his character. Kyle absolutely loved to the play the villain. But when game turns reality, what will he and his guild of twisted personalities do?

Calf the Furless (First Edition)
Calf, the heir presumptive has fallen short once again. As a half-being his competition has always stood heads and shoulders above his physical capabilities but this time, more is at play in keeping him down than the fetters of human ability. "THEY" have interfered and as a consequence, Calf is thrown into a Rites the likes of which only the annals and a few of the long-lived have seen. Will he prevail, or will his story end before it even begins. PROLOGUE: The rite of passage. Every creature known and yet to be known by man undergoes its own challenges. These separate the chaff from the worthy crop, whittling down the challengers for every progressive leg of the journey we call life. Be it formalized and observed, or unwittingly followed in the execution of daily life, every form of it is ritualized. That ritual is what we call the rites, the passage being the continuation of life itself, for even when metaphorical, a death is certain in choice and accommodations should one fail to meet its expectations. ⯁⯁⯁ At the top of any group stands a king, set apart from all by qualification, ranging from singular to multivariate by the complexity of each group. To those of the central forests of Greater Liminos, better known as Taurreland, strength is king. Though the land abounds with creatures great and small, boasting intellect, arcane skills and artisanal prowess, strength stands above all of them, second to none. 'Strength will prevail over all' stands as their motto, and to that end, the Rites of a King require triumph over forces from all disciplines. ⯁⯁⯁ Day 300,Year seventeen,Future calendar of the Taurs... Such a rites would occur on that day, and its events would be the first in a sequence of challenges to the status quo. A single answer would emerge to satisfy all the questions that had been asked of a certain Prince for the past 8 years, but as a consequence, that answer would put to question all that was tradition, and the weight of hereditary strength.
