《Dungeon Core Abi》Chapter 120: Putting You To Work

Eventually, Becca realised something was wrong on her own. The lifeless corpse on her head not responding or making any attempt to move being the main signs. I had to tell her. Poor girl. She was so upset after hearing what happened. Not that it was anything bad.
It's a strange experience being forced out of your own body, but it doesn't hurt. Plus, after she transformed back into her human form and my body hit the ground, I was able to jump straight back into the over-powered vessel.
No biggie.
That was it for Becca though. She felt bad and wanted some time to herself for reflection. Bless her. The fact that she cares and can now show me that, makes me super proud. Sis had a good laugh at my expense when she found out what happened, so I shrunk her tower down two floors.
That gave me a good laugh.
Afterwards and still putting off the wall renovations, I had a quick check on how You was doing in the dungeon. She works fast and already every Goblin floor has been altered to accommodate the differences between our daily challengers.
New pathways have been put into place that lead to different sections. Each one features a sign next to it describing the difficulty posed to adventurers. There's even more helpful information below which You added in. It details recommended party sizes, the amount of enemies expected on that route and more.
Pretty ingenious if I do say so myself. I knew the Lord of Hay would pull through.
Ok that's bullshit and I know it, but all's well that ends well, right?
Either way, I'm going to have to get You to do the same thing to the dungeon outside Orad. Detailed signs about knowing what to expect is a pretty damn good idea. Especially when there are parties that still refuse to venture inside with a guide. Still, we don't refuse them as everyone has the right to come inside me.
"You," I call out as I enter the dungeon. My clone appears and bows elegantly as she greets me in return. I can't help but think that I already like You more than Me. Not only due to her lovely demeanor and attitude, but because she's a downright babe.
"Hi, You. So, I've got a few plans if you have a minute." Of course she does. The Dungeon isn't going anywhere. That said it might take some time to hammer out details and it's almost lunchtime. In that case...
Taking hold of You's hand, I cast Divinity's Domain. I haven't brought anyone else into my private world yet and if I'm honest I wasn't sure whether or not it would work. Then again I did summon the bumbling duo into another Goddess' domain so why I wasn't doubting myself I have no idea.

However, you never know what you're capable of until you try.
Varona is living proof of that. The joke of Sis labeling my creation as a bandit hideout couldn't be any further from that statement. Growing larger than I ever thought possible, even if I hadn't acquired any other cities yet Varona will still see me through just fine. Over sixty thousand DP a night is just ridiculous. I love it, but it doesn't make it any less ridiculous.
However, coupled with the same amount coming in from Ishda alongside roughly thirty thousand each from Orad and Tune, I'm rolling in points. At this point I could even stop expanding if I wanted too. Stop trying to acquire more, stop trying to be more, just stop. But honestly...
I don't want to. Not now. I want more.
I want my Dungeon Core to be as big as the damn Coliseum. Bigger in fact. I want it to be so large that it becomes unbreakable. That will only happen if I keep pushing on and world domination is the best goal to follow in that regard. That and ridding Tironia of its corruption of course. Can't forget about Soul Guide.
I hadn't noticed until recently, but I gain a modicum of experience every time a soul is corrected. The amount is nothing substantial and is about as much as a feature upgrade reward, but it's still something. Slow and steady wins the race after all.
"Ok, You. Listen up." The soul that houses my sub-systems consciousness is not actually listening. Instead, she is taken back by the beauty of my domain. My own personal space is still in the same design that it was after I had overtaken Kolena's own. Meadows stretch as far as the eye can see and there isn't a cloud in the sky.
Divinity's Domain is an amazing skill. I can alter any aspect of the world inside it just like I would my dungeon. All it takes is a single thought and the world shapes around my will. Filling the sky with thunderstorms or turning the ground barren is as simple as spawning wildlife, fauna or anything else that springs to mind.
I give You a moment to collect herself as I too take a second to appreciate my own personal space. Will this be what Tironia is like after I manage to purchase it all? Let's be honest, jobs along the lines of deforestation and river routing will be much easier for myself than would be for regular people. What could take them months only takes me a matter of minutes.
Pulling the lake closer to our location, I created two chairs and a circular table with a parasol. A pot of tea is on top of the table and I take a seat while waiting for You to catch up.

"What is this place? It feels like a dungeon, but... off?"
"Hey! This place is the greatest, I'll have you know. This is my Divinity's Domain and it's like my own personal world. As long as we're in here, time won't progress on the outside." Not unless I change the settings, I think?
"That is actually very convenient. You know, Abi, there are a lot of other areas where you could put this skill to use. Your morning meetings for example." I raise my hand to cut her off.
"Let me stop you there, You. My days already feel long enough without the need of making them longer. If anything, the sole use of this domain is for catching up on sleep. That and maybe practicing skills, but in no way is it for anything that constitutes as - or creates, extra work."
I can't have that. If I held the meeting in here that would mean I'd have more time to spend procrastinating over Varona's wall. Stupid mythril bricks. Why did I dive in at the deep end?
"I understand, Abi." She does? Really? Thus is usually the stage where Me would point out that I am in fact being lazy. Maybe my number one informed his junior of my half-hearted tendencies and she's already accepting of them? I don't know, but if she's not pushing, I'm not complaining.
On to business.
"Thank you. Anyway, we're here to talk dungeon. So let's do this." We spend the better part of an hour hashing out details over new dungeons. That's what I want from You. I want her to create two more Dummy Dungeons. One outside Ishda and the other at Tune. It's time to start leveling these humans.
You was happy to oblige and the majority of our conversation was about level development. She also explained how to better manage my floors to stop too many people gathering in the same areas. All in all, I learned something this morning and was even paying attention.
I don't know why, but it's easier to get advice from someone who is the spitting image of yourself. Not that I didn't listen to Me. I'd have been screwed in the beginning if his wise words hadn't been badgering me to build, build, build.
I've got to tell you. That starting point of a Dungeon Core's life is low. The low ceiling on Dungeon Points coupled together with the even lower number of starting summons is poor at best. Seriously, if they weren't scattered around the world they'd be screwed.
Then again, how come I haven't come across any dungeons since I started acquiring land. Surely someone must know of a few? A future question for Sis and maybe the Lords Edward and Aldor. If anyone is going to know where dungeons are, it's going to be one of those three.
There's also the possibility of giving my Goblin King his voice box back. I'm pretty sure that bastard knows the location of more than a few dungeons.
Not that I'm in a rush to meet other Dungeon Cores. Who knows what they'll be like. They might not even be rational. Last thing I need is a dungeon war. I feel like the dungeon would be a stronger adversary than the humans were. They have the ability to keep spotting out monsters after all. Well, as long as they can afford they can.
But I digress. It's lunchtime.
After finishing my tea, I take us to the entrance of the mountain and smile at You.
"You've got a big task ahead of you. Are you sure you'll be ok?" I can't help but ask again. I asked repeatedly while we were hammering out the details, but You insisted that she will be fine. Having no reason to not trust her, I allot her some extra points as I know she's going to need them.
Tune's Mayor won't be impressed. Especially since he can't capitalize on my dungeon and has no King to complain to. I might have to bring him in for his reformation soon. I suppose he could actually voice those complaints at the same time if we chuck him in with Goblin.
During my morning meeting, Raff kept assuring me that the fishing city's mayor was on a steady path of repentance and probably wouldn't need to be brought in. That in itself is good because if people at the top can change - especially those exposed to copious amounts of gold, then it shows hope for those still waiting their turn to visit our retreat.
Ishda's Lord might feel the same way about the dungeon m, but I'm sure Clara and the other Noble Vampires will take them around. That is their job after all.
Bidding farewell to You, I port over to Ali's to see the triplets joined by Rebecca and are all seated. Only Amber is eating however and it looks like she's still in the middle of work rather than lunch. Although they're one and the same thing.
The little food bin hasn't even gained an ounce of weight, which is just as ridiculous as the amount she eats. Other than sleeping, Amber has spent the better part of the last two days eating away and inspiring others to have peaceful meals in Ali's restaurant.
It's a crazy world we live in.

See, a long time ago, Bobby got himself involved with a dragon whose business was making magicians, and Bobby wanted magic to be his business. Both of them having common interest, Bobby agreed to sign over his services in exchange for phenomenal (draconic) magic. A pretty awesome deal, right? The contract put him at the top percentage of human magicians, on top of having the backing of a dragon patron, and a fantastic set of benefits befitting an esteemed contractor, so it'd be smooth sailing from then on, right? Not so. That kind of power isn't granted without strings attached, and Bobby's practically bound up in them. Following the esoteric laws set forth by magicians , juggling them with the mortal interests he still has to abide by, and finding himself at the beck and call of a fickle and opaque patron makes his life as a magician a rollercoaster of ups and downs. But when his patron sets him on a strange task- with stranger company, no less, even Bobby has to question what his mission really is. Delving into fantastic crimes and cracking open mysteries is just the least he can do, and he'll do it with the help of his gun, his wand, and his trusted allies both large and small. --- Cover art is of the Georgia Guidestones.
