《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 97: Titans Scaler Plan Phase One

"They're so cool, but why didn't you tell me they were going to be the pretend bosses?" Kiki asked, covering her mic so it didn't pick up her voice.
"If I had told you you would have almost certainly spoiled the surprise," Kikou replied, also covering his mic. Kiki went to speak but paused before she did, and she slumped her head.
"Fair....". Kiki slumped onto the desk, pouting and huffing as she looked down at the arena.
With her bone-chilling and expressionless glare, Mimi dragged the tip of her water scythe through the ground, tilling the rocky ground as if it were dirt and drawing in moister from the surroundings as she and Xinia rushed towards the darksteel structure. Xinia held her head low, constantly adverting her gaze from the darksteel structure, as she followed slightly behind Mimi.
"Oh, my gods, why didn't I see something as obvious as the boss of the tournament being the current incarnation of the guy is was made for... and the top-ranked adventurer is just overkill," Xinia mentally murmured, gritting her teeth at the prospect of not only getting completely washed and even getting arrested on live TV.
"Say... you planning on fighting the Magistrate?". Mimi's abrupt question almost caused Xinia to trip over her own feet, as she was brought out of her daydream. Xinia slowly looked in Mimi's direction and when Xinia saw her glaring eyes, Xinia instinctively shook her head in response.
"Good," Mimi stated, as she refused to direct her eyes in any direction other than on her target. Mimi abruptly leant towards Xinia and whispered something into her ear; Xinia’s eyes widened and she stumbled over her feet at hearing what Mimi said.
Seemingly from Xinia's perspective, Mimi instantaneously launched herself into the air using wind magic, knocking Xinia a little to the side from the generated wind blast, and rocketed above Zalroth and Zuno. Mimi solely fixated her glare on Zuno as she created a magic floating platform above herself, and proceeded to backflip in the air, before landing on the bottom of the platform.

"Just a head-ups, she'll reach us sooner than you're expecting," Zalroth remarked, causing Zuno to glance over at him. Mimi took Zuno's lapse in attention, on her, and she strongly, negatively magnetized the floating platform and her feet before explosively propelling herself off the platform, shattering it in the process. Mimi recoiled her water scythe, scattering water droplets through the air, and swung her scythe at Zuno.
A massive explosion of whistling steam avalanched over the darksteel structure, and power washed the surrounding ground, as Xinia activated her intangibility and ducked into the sea of steam. Mimi and Zalroth stood at the epicentre of the boiling steam, their skin bright red and covered in boiling water, sweating like crazy as steam surged out from the clash between Mimi's water mana scythe and a floating sheathed Novathane.
Zuno grabbed Novathane, and he lightly pushed Mimi backwards before mimicking the movements Mimi did, prior to her swinging her scythe. The surrounding steam spontaneously jetted in front of Mimi and formed into a half-baked water mana shield. Zuno tightened his grip before he slashed through the water shield before he slammed Novathane into Mimi's abdomen and batted her away. Mimi rocketed through the air as her pained expression morphed to a grin, as the red Judgement Chain wrapped around her ankle jangled.
Zuno watched the Judgement Chain rattle, following it from the end around Mimi's ankle to the other and, once he got to the other end, he was surprised to see Kunai attaching the Judgement Chain to his ankle. Mimi let out a cackle, as she backflipped and the silver part of her hair flickered a glowing yellow before she grabbed the red Judgement Chain and yanked it toward herself. Zuno let out a sigh, made of both pessimism and endearment before he was hoisted towards Mimi, as she soared over the others as they battled each other.

Zalroth wiped the sweat off his forehead, and looked at the palm of his steaming bright red hand, as his tails unwrapped from around the case containing the bronze bell.
"Well... I guess my clothes have been in need of a dry clean," Zalroth joked, as he generated a mini-tornado around his body to air dry his clothes. The wind mana bursted away, causing Zalroth's tails to all fluff up and transform his hair into a mini afro. Kunai leapt onto Zalroth's head and kneaded his hair until it was back to normal, as Zalroth darted his eyes to his side. Zalroth covered his mouth, to hide his mouth as it morphed into a demonic wide smile, and chuckled to himself.
"Intangibility, that's a tricky power to use.". Xinia slowly phased half her head through the top of the darksteel structure, and she apprehensively stared at Zalroth as she rose out from the floor. Zalroth spun around on his heel and squished his face until his expression relaxed.
"Now, let's see how you fare against me," Zalroth said clicking his neck and getting into a semi-serious-looking fighting stance.
Inside the viewing booth, Mei-La and Fei-Ku with large eyes stared at the TV as they watched Xinia (still intangible) preparing to combat Zalroth. The sisters leaned towards the TV when Xinia, without the use of magic circles, fired a plasma beam at Zalroth.
"What's wrong?" Xelphia asked as she was sitting in front of Zalina, and was having her head massaged by Zalina.
"This seems a little unfair," Mei-La stated, pointing at Zalroth and Zuno respectively.
"I see what you mean but Sophia's found ways to get around Master's strength before, so it's not impossible," Xelphia explained, even mentioning the time Sophia, Lola, Scarlett and Snow did the necklace training against Zalroth. Scarlett and Snow spun around on the spot, Scarlett's being more energetic, and stared down Xelphia, making her tilt her head at them.
"How do you know that happened?" Scarlett asked, squinting with an inquisitive stare.
"Tail pocket dimension,".
"Oh...." the sisters uttered in unison before returning to watching the TV, when a loud explosion reverberated from it.
Chronia gently ran her fingers through Lola's hair, staring up at the ceiling as she hummed the same melody Zalroth does. Her eyes bounced from side to side, as the clock hands of her eyes spun clockwise and counterclockwise respectively. Chronia smirked to herself as her eye's clock hands stopped spinning.
"He's so gullible," Chronia muttered, with Lola raising her head upwards to try and look at Chronia.
"Who's gullible, mama?".
"Huh? Oh, I'm just rewatching so of your father and I's antics from when we were younger."
"Oh..., poor papa.".
"What's that supposed to mean?" Chronia asked, briskly brushing her fingertips against the base of Lola's ears, and making Lola's body wobble like jelly before she flattened out like a pancake. Chronia lifted Lola off her lap, stood up and placed her where she was previously sitting.
"Where're you going?" Xelphia asked as Zalina was massaging Xelphia's spider legs.
"Erm... guild stuff.". Chronia cracked her knuckles before she seemingly disappeared, leaving the group to wonder what in the world could get Chronia to leave so abruptly.

Blood Seekers - Book 1, is now on Amazon, including the final chapters not posted here! https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07MYJ5ZRC “You will die!” That's what the developers of Blood Seekers promised them... The most challenging MMO ever created—that’s how they advertised it. Taglines like, “Not your granddaddy’s game,” and, “Only for the hardest of the hardcore,” had gamers going crazy. Set in a gothic, Lovecraftian world, with fully realized A.I. NPCS, gamers were desperate to get their hands on the new game and dive in, and Clay was one of them. It was going to be tough, but he was ready for it. What he wasn’t ready for, was countless players having their minds hijacked and being transformed into mindless, hostile creatures filled with nothing but hate who killed anyone on sight. They called them the Bloodless. Clay’s best and only friend, Rey, moved across the country she was twelve, but they kept in touch online, playing countless games together, and when Blood Seekers was released, they were both ready to step up to the plate and face the new challenge together. But now, Rey has been taken by the plague, her mind held hostage as one of the Bloodless. A mysterious black monolith has appeared at the center of the highest level zone in the game, a place no one has even come close to. Some say it will provide us with answers. Others say it will only lead to more questions. Who’s behind all this? Why are people’s minds being taken? Will we ever get to bring them back? How many more will be lost if we stay logged in? Nothing is certain, but if there’s any chance that reaching the monolith will bring Rey back back, then Clay will do everything he can to reach it. This is Book 1 in a new series from Stephen Roark! Divine Progress
Progress is a dubious god. After failing him, three people are banished from modern times and sent to another world. Seemingly out of place, Christoph is snatched from his own time and plunged into a world of violence and magic with no deity to lend him support. Instead, Progress has seen fit to curse him with an eternal hunger for magical energy. Branded as a demon, he must fight for survival while battling the servants of the god who sent him there, struggling against the 'gift' that Progress bestowed upon him and the past he sought to abandon. Can he make his way across the lands and gather enough strength to survive without the blessings of the Divine? Or will the gods bend him to their will, breaking him if he seeks to resist? This is not a short story, and the plot will take many twists and turns before Christoph's journey comes to a close. After all, it is not the destination, but the Progress that matters in the end. Like many other stories on RoyalRoad, this is my first piece. Feedback is more than welcome, so please leave a reply if you have a comment or question.
