《How I Became A Jarl》One Chance pt. 3

With help of his tentacles, the monster jumped on me with his sword. I didn’t have much time to jump away so I blocked the attack. When I got hit I immediately was on my knees struggling to keep that sword away from me. I saw a crack on his weapon but it disappeared.
[ Eric ]
“How overpowered are you!”
Wrestling with blades was pointless against that monster. I slid my dagger along his sword and cut off his hand. While he tried to regenerate this part of his arm I was moving up and slicing even more of it. One of the tentacles was going to hit me. I didn’t block it. Instead, I sliced his leg and made him fall a bit. With that, the tentacle also moved and he hit himself with it.
The tentacle went through his stomach. Since he was regenerating very fast he didn’t pull it out in time. Whenever he tried to move the tentacle he screamed. I had a chance to cut off another one. Now he only had three tentacles left and one of them is in his stomach. He didn’t scream when I cut off his arm or leg. Is it screaming because he is nervous or there is something important in his stomach?
This time monster created two swords for each hand and they were twice bigger than the last one. They were more like clubs than swords. He raised one of them as high as possible and swung it down. It didn’t hit me directly but the shockwave made me almost fall.
[ Eric ]
“Time to finish it before you learn a new trick…”
The monster desperately waved his swords trying to hit me. I bearly avoided each attack. Every next attack from it felt like it was more precise. He was learning while he was fighting. This monster is stronger than at the beginning of the battle. The opening that I once saw was no longer there. I had no choice but to do something risky that might kill him.
This time I jumped on him. Of course, he didn’t let me land on him. He swung his sword at me and made me fly high into the air. That was exactly what I wanted. With this speed, I might avoid his attack and strike his chest. There is no way that he’ll react in time.

Before I began to fall the monster threw one of his swords at me. I had no chance of avoiding it. I was in the air and the sword was moving at such a high speed. It hit me and tore my leg off. I was falling without my left leg, bleeding like hell… I saw him getting ready to throw his second sword but I was faster and threw my dagger. It hit him directly in the head.
I finally landed my hit and sliced his stomach in half. Now the only thing that can save me is a reward from Loki for defeating this monster. I hit the ground pretty hard but thanks to the daggers it didn’t hurt that much.
The monster’s body wasn’t regenerating itself anymore but it didn’t rot like the tentacles. Loki didn’t take me to him. That means that the monster is still alive! How? It’s not moving anymore. Then I heard a squeak from the lower part of the monster’s body. Something fell off of it. There was something that looked like a big worm.
[ Eric ]
“You’re the monster, right? You parasite…”
I crawled toward it but it also was crawling away from me. I was using all my strength. I needed to kill him as fast as possible before I bleed out to death. I finally got to him and stabbed him right in the head. When I stabbed him I appeared in a very well known place to me.
[ Eric ]
“Finally! Oh, my leg! I missed you!” I shouted out of joy while I kissed my own left leg.
[ Loki ]
“Congratulation. I hope you didn’t take a liking to that power since you’ll never get a chance to use it.”
[ Eric ]
“Worth it! Without that ability, I wouldn’t be able to kill that thing. Even with that power it still got my leg. Without that, he would definitely crash me.”
[ Loki ]
“True. Without that power, you’re pretty weak. Well… Not like you were strong, to begin with. There are others who had common spells but used them very well that some thought that those were legendary spells.”

[ Eric ]
“Haha… So. What is my reward for killing it.”
[ Loki ]
“Straight to the point? No fun… Huh… You’ll get a rare ability that can evolve. Depending on how well you’ll do.”
[ Eric ]
“Nice. Is this some sword fighting spell? Or maybe something similar to Lucky Throw?”
[ Loki ]
“Tamed Sight.”
[ Eric ]
“Huh. How do you tame sight? Are you sure it’s a rare spell?”
[ Loki ]
“Yes, I’m sure of that. This spell. Let’s you see things from the eyes of the animal you tamed. If an animal thinks of you as a friendly being you can use their sight.”
[ Eric ]
“Boring… You could give me something cooler!”
[ Loki ]
“Sorry for crushing your dreams… but it won’t be the only crashed things today…”
When I opened my eyes I was on the ground. The monster’s body disappeared as well as the daggers. My leg was back but the clothes were shattered since it only heals me not the clothes.
[ Skyge ]
“Master! Master!” Barked Skyge as he jumped on me in his small form.
[ Eric ]
“Don’t worry. I’m fine…”
[ Skyge ]
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…” Said Skyge with tears in his eyes.
[ Eric ]
“What do you mean? What are you sorry for?”
[ Skyge ]
“I couldn’t save them all.”
[ Eric ]
“Calm down. It’s alright… You did your best…” I said as I slowly pat Skyge. “Mind telling me how many had fallen?”
[ Skyge ]
“Most of them died…”
[ Eric ]
“Most… How?!”
[ Skyge ]
“They were throwing rocks like you said they should. Something hit the mountain and destroyed the cliff. They fell…”
That sword… My leg wasn’t the only thing it hit. I ran back to the path to the mountain. By it, there was the rubble of giant rocks covered in blood. I thought that there might be some lucky survivors but after searching I found nothing.
[ Eric ]
“Is Hakon alive? Did he survive?”
[ Skyge ]
“Yes. He, children, and few villagers survived.”
Kyle stood there on a small island near Dalir Village where he last talked with Tae. This whole time he was just observing what was occurring on the island. He was silent for most of the time until Eric killed the monster.
[ Kyle ]
“Even with Blessed Mind, I wasn’t able to predict that… I hoped that the monster would learn a lot from fighting with Eric and winning. Those I would have an ultimate weapon. Somehow he got this powerful weapon… Maybe helping Connor was a better option? No. The monster wouldn’t evolve that much against him.”
Kyle looked at the moon. With a loud bang, the moon started to shine even brighter. A smile appeared on his face and then he laughed like a madman.
[ Kyle ]
“Looks like at least something worked according to the plan! My Goddess! Welcome back to the world of the living! Let’s change this world together! Help me do it! Please speak to me!”
The moon was shining until a big blue falling star covered the moon for a few seconds. Afterward, the light disappeared. It was almost completely dark. Kyle checked a tattoo on his chest and it was no longer shining.
[ Kyle ]
“She is… dead… But who killed her? At the same time when she finally got a new body… What am I supposed to do now? One thing is for sure. I won’t find my answers here…”

Re: (Union//Incarnation)
Two years ago, a meteor fell and decimated the southeastern lands of Gaia, turning them into wastelands constantly shrouded in white fog. None of those who saw the blazing calamity with their own eyes lived to tell the tale, and those who attempted to venture in never came back. Since then, towers, caverns, and ruins have appeared and disappeared without a pattern. Those who were brave enough to venture in were rewarded with a partner capable of defying the natural laws as humanity knows it. People started to call them ‘Incarnation’, and before long, more and more Incarnation were gathered and sold as commodity, especially after a billionaire has sponsored a fighting tournament offering cash prizes to those possessing the strongest Incarnation, spurring the greedy and desperate to hunt for the fabled creatures at the cost of their lives. Claire Saphira wanted none of that. She simply wished for a life where she could live without worry of her own survival. As she ran from the debt collectors for the umpteenth time, she was swallowed by an errant tower, where she saw a frail, pale-skinned girl with ashen hair hung by chains. It was a chance, a chance to participate in the tournament and live without worrying about survival. Yet, something nagged in the back of her mind. Why did she look so familiar? Planned release schedule: One chapter every day for Mon-Fri, and a break on Sat-Sun. The release will slow down at some point, but most likely won't go under 3 chapters a week.
