《A GenEric Story》Chapter 32

Dit started to walk towards the village, putting the memories on hold, or trying his best to do so. But they came rushing back again, but this time instead of closing his eyes, he kept moving forwards.
“This path down the mountain peak... It seems bigger the more I use it.”, he thought to himself. But soon he reached the mountain base.
He then kept walking towards the village again.
On his way, he looked around. Recently, there wasn’t enough time for him to just admire the scenery. He closed his eyes and smelled.
“Oh... I remember this...”
He opened his eyes and looked around to find a bunch of flowers.
“Ahh...”, said Dit while picking one flower up.
He took it near his nose and smelled it before speaking, “...It’s that time of the year again... For them to bloom.”
Dit looked up at the sky at a distance with the flower still in his hands.
Both the children were playing away.
“Hey, Dit!”
Dit looked at Ban who was screaming her lungs away.
He rushed towards her only to find her playing with a bunch of flowers and laughing away.
“See?”
She looked behind.
“Aren’t they beautiful?”, she continued. She picked a bunch of them up and went near Dit.
She placed one near his ears and spoke, “Just like you... Hahaha”
Dit blushed and turned his face around before speaking, “S-stop teasing me sister!”
“Hahahaha, I-I won’t...”, Ban replied still laughing away.
She wiped away the tears from her eyes and found Dit sulking and pouting.
“I wasn’t kidding.”, she continued and patted Dit.
“After all, I have the world’s most beautiful sibling”, she added while smiling brightly.
Dit smiled and put the flower he picked up into his pocket and continued his journey.

A journey that he took many times back when he was a kid.
“We’re going to be late again sister!”, Dit exclaimed, trying his best to take Ban with him.
“A kid needs to have proper meals to grow up properly!”, he added.
“Hahaha, alright! Alright! I understand now let go of my hand!”, Ban replied.
She stopped and looked at Dit before asking, “And? Who told you that?”
“Aunt carer Of course!”, Dit replied, smiling proudly.
Ban couldn’t control her laughter any longer.
“Sister!”, exclaimed Dit.
“I thought you said that you wouldn’t tease me anymore!”, he added.
“How can I not? When I have such a cute brother such as yourself?”, Ban replied, still laughing away.
Dit grunted and started to walk away.
“Hey! Hey! Wait up for me...”
But Dit didn’t stop.
“No... No, I will not!”
Dit started to run away; Ban ran after him as well.
“W-Wait... Please don’t leave me behind...”
Dit stopped as soon as he heard that and looked backward towards Ban who was gasping for air.
Ban looked up, “Y-you were always so... a-athletic...”
“I won’t make fun of you again.”, she added.
“Y-yea...”, replied an embarrassed Dit.
Ban started to laugh again.
“Sis-”
Before Dit could say anything, Ban held his hands and ran with him towards the village while laughing away.
Dit forgot what he was going to say and just enjoyed the moment.
Soon enough, they saw a figure near the entrance of the village. It seemed like they were waiting for them.
“Kids! There you are! I was worried sick”, said the figure, dropping down to hug both.
She pushed them just enough to look at their faces before continuing, “How many times have I told you, children, to not go out of the village?”

Dit looked sorry but Ban laughed in return.
The figure sighed before getting up.
“We’re sorry Aunt carer.”, Dit replied.
The person smiled and spoke, “It’s fine if you’re sorry.”
She patted both their heads and continued, “Let’s go. The other children are waiting for us.”
“What did you cook today, Aunt?”, asked Ban.
“Soup”
“Yay”
Ban smiled and so did Dit.
On the way there, they overheard a man talking about something. Which Dit overheard.
“Bandits? Are you serious? They were seen in the area...?”, asked one man the other.
“Shh, yes.”, replied the other.
“Don’t worry, the knights will handle them.”
“When have they ever handled anything...”
Dit got scared and hugged aunt carer’s legs.
“What’s wrong Dit?”, she asked, worried.
“Bandits...”
Ban heard that and comforted Dit, “Don’t worry Dit! I will protect you! And there are soldiers of the king, I’m sure they’ll catch them!”
“She’s right, Dit.”, said the carer.
Dit nodded.
The carer sighed and hugged them again.
“Now who is ready for some soup?”, she asked.
“ME!”, replied Ban.
Dit was still scared but being comforted by both made his heart feel easier.
Dit didn’t realize that he had arrived near the village enough that he could see it from the distance.
He grunted and sighed while pressing the pocket where he kept the flower with his hands, for he could still remember the heat.

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

Chains of Dominion
If Jake wins the local Fantasy Tactics Online tournament, he’ll have everything he’s ever dreamed of — a ticket out of town and the attention of a beautiful woman. However, this woman has more planned for him than a bus ride to the local metropolis. She teleports him back to her Realm and declares him her Master… and says it’s up to him to save the world. No pressure. Rival Dominions vie for power, and they are all far larger and more organized than Jake’s rag-tag group of women, but he has two advantages: the rules of this world are eerily similar to those of Fantasy Tactics Online, and his wildest dirtiest sexual fantasies act as a power multiplier for his all-female army. Warning: The heroes have intense tactical battles, wild kinky sex, and near-constant flirtation. The villains are disturbing and cruel. If the idea of villains doing bad things bothers you, please do not read books ever, but especially don’t read this one.

The Fall
Perhaps the most well known of all devils, demons, or fallen angels is the one known as Lucifer, Satan, the Father of Lies. The cultural influence of this figure throughout history is by no means small. Despite that, it wasn’t until the time of Milton’s classic – Paradise Lost – that we saw an attempt to portray a dramatized version of the events leading to this figure’s fall from grace and power. And while this is the case, Paradise Lost is not about Lucifer – though it goes into great detail about his potential musings. No, Paradise Lost was, and still is, about the fall of mankind. So, in light of this, and the feeling that the classical story deserved another telling, I present to you all The Fall – a story focused particularly on Lucifer’s fall from grace and his musings both before and after.
