Chapter 1004: 1004
Chapter 1004: The Seventh Squad
They two flew in through a wide entrance at the bottom of the tower and came to a bright hall.
The hall was quite empty. There were several thick stone pillars supporting the top. There was a round arch-shaped stone platform in the center of the hall. 2 cultivators wearing Taiqing Sect elder costumes were sitting in it. When they heard footsteps, they looked over.
Liu Ming was startled. 1 of the 2 elders was a middle-aged man with a cold expression, and the other was a boy. It was the Emerald Cloud Peak’s elder, Hao Yue Tongzi, whom he met several times.
Hao Yue Tongzi was startled when he saw Liu Ming.
“Disciple Yue Qi greets 2 elders.” Yue Qi didn’t notice the changes in Liu Ming’s and Hao Yue Tongzi’s expressions as he bowed.
“Liu Ming greets 2 elders!”
Liu Ming’s face quickly returned to normal, and he bowed to them.
“It turns out to be Nephew Disciple Yue, there’s no need to be polite.” The cold-faced middle-aged man said lightly.
“Nephew Disciple Liu, I didn’t expect you to come to this Evil Ghost Way, are you here to train?” Hao Yue Tongzi stood up with a smile.
Seeing this situation, Yue Qi and the cold-faced middle-aged man showed a bit of surprise.
“Yes, the disciple is now facing a bottleneck, and I came here to find the opportunity.” Liu Ming said with his hands.
“I remember that Nephew Disciple Liu practiced the ghost technique. This Evil Ghost Way is just right for you to hone your cultivation.” Hao Yue Tongzi nodded in agreement.
“Oh, so Brother Hao Yue recognizes this disciple?” The cold-faced middle-aged man said with his eyes flashing after hearing their conversations.
“Brother Gu, you have been guarding the Evil Ghost Way for nearly a hundred years, so you don’t know much about the outside world. Nephew Disciple Liu only entered the inner door decades ago, but he actually got the title of the first disciple of the inner sect. Even sect master is full of praise for him.” Hao Yue Tongzi said with a slight smile.
“Oh? It turns out that you are the disciple who got top 1 in the Tianmen Convention. I have heard people talking about you.” The cold-faced man looked at Liu Ming with a hint of surprise.
Yue Qi was full of surprises too.
On the way here, although he felt that Liu Ming’s strength was extraordinary, he did not expect him to have such a great reputation in the sect.
“Elder has overpraised, I really not worth the title.” Liu Ming bowed and said nothing more.
“Since you are the top 1 in the Tianmen Convention, there is no need for the usual strength test. Regarding the differences between the 3 Golden Light Army’s teams, Yue Qi should have already made it clear to you. Which team do you want to join?” The cold-faced middle-aged man asked slowly.

“I want to join the first team.” As Liu Ming said, he took off the disciple token from his waist and handed it over.
Yue Qi threw a glance at Liu Ming, but Liu Ming ignored it.
“Nephew Disciple Liu, are you sure? Even if you are not weak, this Evil Ghost Way is different from the outside world. I still recommend that you join the second team to get familiar with it first.” Hao Yue Tongzi frowned and reminded.
“Thanks to Elder Hao Yue for his kindness, but I have made up my mind. I hope Master’s Juniors can fulfill my decision.” Liu Ming replied firmly.
Although Yue Qi had already said on the way here that it was best for new disciples to start with the third or second team to get familiar with and adapt to the situation here, then he could consider joining the first team.
But how precious his time was now. He didn’t want to spend 6 years in vain, plus he was very confident in his own strength, that was why he made such a request.
The cold-faced middle-aged man gave Liu Ming a deep look. After talking with Hao Yue through voice transmission, he took the token passed by Liu Ming, took out a jade book, glanced at it and said,
“Since Nephew Disciple Liu is quite confident in your own strength, I will do as you wish. Now that the seventh squad in the first team lacks a deputy captain, why don’t we let Nephew Disciple Liu take the position.”
As soon as these words came out, Yue Qi and Hao Yue Tongzi were slightly shocked.
“Can elder explain to me about the situation of the seventh squad?” Liu Ming was moved after seeing Hao Yue Tongzi and Yue Qi’s expressions.
“Even if Nephew Disciple Liu doesn’t ask, I will explain it to you. The number of disciples who are above the Crystallization Period is about 300 people. About half of them are concentrated in the first team. The seventh squad is the most elite squad of the first team, and they perform extremely dangerous missions with a very high probability of dying.” Hao Yue Tongzi explained.
“Disciples will get rewards and contribution points for performing every mission in the Evil Ghost Way. They will also get various precious spiritual materials that are special here. The more dangerous missions they perform, the more rewards they get. Nephew Disciple Liu’s strength is high, and your purpose of coming here is to sharpen your cultivation to find a breakthrough opportunity, so the seventh team is naturally the most suitable.” The cold-faced man glanced at Hao Yue Tongzi and said with a calm expression.
“Oh, then the disciple will just follow Elder Gu’s arrangement.” Liu Ming pondered for a while, then he agreed to.
“Very good, if you are the first disciple of the inner door, I will be disappointed if you don’t have such confidence, I will be greatly disappointed.”
The cold-faced middle-aged man showed admiration for the first time, and he shook Liu Ming’s token at the jade book.

After a flash of green light on the jade book, it returned to normal again.
The middle-aged man took out another black token and a storage talisman to Liu Ming, explaining,
“This is your token here. It is engraved with the unique enchantment of the Taiqing Sect. After you drop your blood on it and refine it, the mission will be given through this token. This storage talisman has the Golden Light Army’s clothes and some information about the Evil Ghost Way collected by our sect. Read it carefully after you go back, it will definitely help you in your future actions.”
Liu Ming took the token and storage talisman, put them away and then asked,
“By the way, junior still has something to ask elders. Senior Sister Wu of my peak came to Evil Ghost Way to train in the early years, but there has been no news since then. I heard that she disappeared during a mission. May I know what’s going on?” Hao Yue Tongzi and the cold-faced middle-aged man were stunned. They looked at each other without speaking.
Seeing this, Liu Ming’s heart sank slightly.
Yue Qi lowered his head and closed his eyes.
After a while, Hao Yue Tongzi sighed and said slowly,
“This matter is quite complicated, and we have not figured it out yet. We shouldn’t tell ordinary disciples like you, but since Nephew Disciple Liu is from the same peak as Xiao Wu, I will tell you about it.”
“A few years ago, the sect received a report that ghost creatures appeared in the Heavenly Ghost Plain in the northwest, so we dispatched a small squad to check it. Nephew Disciple Xiao Wu was in the team. There were 3 Pseudos Pellet State cultivators and a Real Pellet State leader in the squad. But there had been no news after they went. We have sent others to investigate, but we didn’t find anything unusual. There wasn’t even a trace of battle. So, this matter has become a mystery. Xiao Wu and the squad just disappeared like that.” Hao Yue Tongzi sighed.
Liu Ming frowned upon hearing this.
Listening to Hao Yue Tongzi’s words, Xiao Wu and others were mostly dead.
“Thanks Master’s Junior for telling me this. I’m very grateful.” Liu Ming sighed softly and cupped his fist.
“No news is not necessarily a bad thing. Nephew Disciple Liu doesn’t have to worry too much. We are still investigating it. We will notify you if there is a result in the future.” Hao Yue Tongzi said after thinking about it.
Liu Ming could only thank again with a wry smile.
“Yue Qi, take Nephew Disciple Liu to the residence of the first team and explain some other things in detail.” Hao Yue Tongzi ordered Yue Qi, who was beside him.
“Yes!” The thin young man bowed, and he quickly stepped out with Liu Ming.
Hao Yue Tongzi felt complicated seeing Liu Ming leaving. Although Liu Ming entered the Taiqing Sect for decades, he still secretly regretted until now.
If he persisted and took Liu Ming into the Emerald Cloud Peak, the honor of cultivating the first inner disciple would probably fall on his head.
But it was too late to say anything now.
“Alas…” Hao Yue Tongzi sighed inwardly.
“Brother Hao Yue seems to be very fond of this disciple!” The cold-faced middle-aged man, who had been silent just now, suddenly asked with a smile.
“Hehe, this disciple is related to Liuyin who had disappeared here back then. He is also considered to be the descendant of my peak, so I should take good care of him.” Hao Yue Tongzi replied noncommittally.
“Isn’t the descendant of Liuyin a girl named Long Yanfei? Why is there another Liu Ming? I haven’t returned to the sect for nearly a hundred years, so please tell me about it.” The cold-faced middle-aged man was moved.
“This is a long story…”
…
After leaving the tower, Yue Qi brought Liu Ming to the left of the city, and he said with great enthusiasm,
“Junior Fellow Apprentice Liu, I never imagined that you are the first inner disciple in the sect. Please look after me in the future.”
“These are all touted by the people outside. You can’t take it seriously. The powerful inner disciples rarely stay in the sect. They usually travel outside to look for an opportunity to advance. Let’s not mention them, there are also many disciples in the Golden Light City who are stronger than me.” Liu Ming shook his head and said.
While they were talking, they landed at a crossroads in the city. On both sides of the road were courtyard-style cave house buildings. Each building had a serial number hanging in front of the door.
“The residences in the city are also divided according to the 3 teams. This area is where people from the first team live. Brother Liu’s residence is here.” Yue Qi said casually to Liu Ming, then he glanced around, pointed to the door written with “First Street No. 7” and said.
Liu Ming looked at the environment around the cave house and nodded slightly. The place was considered quiet.
“Brother Liu, I still have some matters to deal with next. If you have time in the future, you can come to visit me at First Street No. 9 cave house.” Yue Qi bade farewells after his tasks were done.
“Okay, thank you Brother Yue for accompanying me along the way. See you later.” Liu Ming thanked him.
After they chatted a few words, they went on separate ways.

Tales of the Willful Autonomous Nanobot Generator
Due to over-engineering and poor parenting; a nanobot generator is sent into the wider universe, ready to solve any and all problems...though probably not the way that was intended, or even hoped for. This story is a first time attempt to use a literary device I came up with, where I use 4 randomly selected songs to write short stories. As such there really won't be any cohesive story thread between chapters. If this gets traction, the likelihood for reader polls to influence the next story are high.

The Shattered Universe Saga - Deus Vult Alpha from Omega
This is book one. Rick West, a wounded Marine with a very unique past is transported, with a significant portion of Earth's population, to a new universe. One that is shattered and yet to coalesce under a divine law. This is the story of a military man who begins the saga immature, rough, careless of other’s feelings. A young man whose focus is on getting laid, fighting, and winning at every turn, regardless of cost. He gets caught up in a strange occurrence, along with a billion others, and finds himself in an oddly familiar place where life is lived as a timed-event role-playing game. He discovers that within the shattered universe he is a Mystic Player, a Marshal, a figure of power, potential, and probability. If he wins, he may even able to wrestle unto himself the very throne of heaven. Rick starts to build his Pantheon with his most trusted companions, friends, family, and a harem of strong and talented women. He faces challenges within himself and others, and also must lead his faction into battle with men and monsters. As Rick and his companions progress through the adventure games within the pocket universe, he develops a greater understanding of his humanity and the qualities of what makes each of us uniquely valuable. He grows mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, without really noticing how he is leaving his old existence behind. Striving against him for truly ultimate power are a thousand others with the same potential, the same possibilities. All are aligned on the spectrum from the brightest of minds, the lightest of hearts, to the darkest of souls. All Mystic Players, be they Monster or Marshal, share one characteristic. They thrive in chaos. And a shattered universe is a universe in chaos. At the end of the Saga, will the winner be someone worthy of emulation and even, if it were appropriate, of worship as an exemplar of divinity. Will the title granted to the Final Victor be EXEMPLAR, or will the title be DESPOILER? That is the question.
