Chapter 217
10 Years After – 217
I decided to pet Grulf before returning to Danton’s mansion.
“Good boy. You did so well.”
“Groof!”
Grulf’s tail wagged happily.
“However, it’s quite dangerous. So you must be careful.”
“Grrrroof!”
“Really, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Grooof?”
Grulf tilted his head to the side. I wasn’t sure if he understood me at all.
I would have to try and tell him again some other time.
And then I talked to Lord Gerberga.
“Lord Gerberga. Are you alright?”
“Cluck-cluck.”
Lord Gerberga was nestled quietly in my jacket.
“Were you able to see the wraith, Lord Gerberga?”
“Cluck.”
Judging by Lord Gerberga’s reaction, I had no idea what the answer was.
But I thought it would not be odd if he did see it.
After that, we started walking towards Danton’s house.
Kathe petted Grulf as we walked.
“So, Grulf can see dark wraiths then.”
“Yes. But the beastkin wolves couldn’t see it, so it must be an ability exclusive to spirit beasts.”
“It was also surprising that his claws and fangs could affect it.”
Mors was right. Wraiths were generally immune to physical attacks.
But my Devil King Sword, Eric’s Holy Sword, and Goran’s magic sword should all be effective too.
The short sword that the chiefs received from Princess Leea would also be effective.
But ordinary swords did no damage to wraiths.
“What about Shia and Serulis’s swords…?”
“I’m not sure about that.”
Shia’s sword had been taken from a vampire lord who was rank six.
And Serulis’s sword was from a vampire high lord.
They had excellent durability and were very sharp. They were no ordinary blades.
However, that didn’t mean they would work against wraiths.

“I might have to cast some magic on them later.”
“That’s a good idea.”
Mors said with a serious expression.
“But their swords are special, aren’t they?”
“Yes. They were taken from vampires.”
“If there is already magic cast on them… It should prove to be rather difficult to add more on top of that.”
That was true. But I thought that it would be possible with the help of Kathe and Mors.
“Mors. Kathe. When the time comes, I hope you will help me.”
“Yes, leave it to me.”
“It should be easy enough!”
“That being said, neither of them can see or sense wraiths. That’s also a problem.”
“That’s true…”
Mors thought about this for a moment and then made a suggestion.
“Perhaps we should develop some kind of special tool to help them.”
“Yes. We can use what we learned while making the magic detection tool.”
“But it will be hard making it small enough to be portable…”
“Yes, that will be very hard. As it will have to do more than just alert you of its presence.”
“Hmmm. That’s true.”
You had to know the exact location in order to battle a dark wraith.
The magic tool we had made earlier had no such feature.
“Hmmm…this is troublesome indeed.”
“It really is.”
We arrived at Danton’s mansion while we discussed it.
My eye immediately went to the hole in the wall that I had made. I would have to start by fixing that.
And so I went through the hole and moved towards the dining hall where the others were waiting.
Shia, Nia, Serulis, Luchila and the children were all gathered there as well.
This had probably been done because it was an emergency.

“Locke! What happened?”
“We killed the intruder…but I opened a hole in your wall.”
“Don’t worry about any holes.”
I carefully handed over Lord Gerberga to Luchila.
“I thought he might be safer with me, and so I took him with us.”
“Yes, I know. Thank you for protecting him.”
“Cluck-cluck.”
Luchila held Lord Gerberga and petted him gently.
And then I turned to Danton and the other chiefs.
“There is something that I must talk to you all about… But I will go and fix the wall first.”
“Locke. Are you afraid that there might be more?”
“It’s possible.”
Of course, a wall wouldn’t make much of a difference if it was a dark wraith.
That being said, we had many enemies. So a wall was still important.
“I intend to fill the hole up quickly for now. I hope you don’t mind?”
“I don’t… But I don’t know if we have any materials…”
“Don’t worry about that. I still have some materials left from when I did repairs in my mansion.”
“I will help you too!”
“And me!”
“Me too!”
“So will I!”
Shia, Serulis, Nia, and Luchila all offered to help.
“Are you going to use magic as well? Then I will help.”
“I will do what I can.”
“Thank you.”
Kathe and Mors would also help me.
“Good. Alright, Shia and Serulis, you lay the bricks. Luchila and Nia. You do the mortar.”
“Yes!”
“Yes!”
I took the materials out of the magic bag and we started to fill up the hole.
I had fixed quite a few walls in my life now.
Danton also tried to help, but he saw that we knew what we were doing, and so he left us alone.
