Chapter 165
Blood spurted out of the neck of the evil dragon and covered me as I landed on the ground.
Then I looked at the water dragons with a smile.
“That’s not enough to kill me.”
“Amazing!”
“Thank you!”
The water dragons said happily.
The enemy must have seen us talking and decided it was their chance.
A vampire lord jumped out to my side.
“Groof!”
Grulf’s fangs tore into the vampire lord’s neck.
“You-you filthy dog!”
The vampire lord panicked and tried to transform in order to escape.
However, it seemed like he couldn’t.
“Wh-why…why…”
And just like that, he turned into a pile of ashes.
“You did it, Grulf!”
“Groof!”
Perhaps vampires could not transform if Grulf bit into them.
“But the dragon breath is dangerous, so stay close to me.”
“Groof-groof!”
But Grulf did not look scared.
Playing with the water dragons so much had probably made him braver.
Just then, a vampire from the far back began to shout.
“Why is there a human in a place like this!”
It was a lord, no, a high lord.
Since he was in the back, he was likely a commander.
“It’s more strange for your filthy kind to appear here.”
“Silence! You inferior creature!”
“Are you the leader of these rats?”
“How dare you call us that! You shall regret this!”
And the fight continued.
The water dragons also used their water breath to retaliate. And as it was their best attack, it was quite powerful.
But the breath of the evil dragons was also strong.
You would take a great deal of damage if it hit you.
On the other hand, the vampire lords and high lords were not much to talk about.

But they could still be a threat.
As the evil dragons were so confident in their vitality, they tended to take every attack instead of dodging them.
However, compared to the evil dragons, it was harder to hit the vampires.
They were not only fast, but they could turn into mist or bats.
This meant that they would occasionally appear behind you or to your side.
And that was very dangerous when you were focused on avoiding the evil dragons’ attacks.
“All of you, don’t push yourselves too hard!”
“Understood!”
I called to the water dragons as I inspected the scene.
Morris was very strong. He could fight two evil dragons at once.
And I shot magic bullets whenever I had a chance.
Because of this, the battle was moving in our favor.
We could win if things continued like this.
It happened just as we were all starting to feel a sense of relief.
“GAAAAAALAAAA!!”
A massive evil dragon appeared. It was much bigger than even Grand Chamberlain Morris.
Not only that, but it was even bigger than Dorgo.
“What!”
“No…”
The water dragons started to make sounds that sounded a lot like screaming.
“Hahahaha! You fools! Regret your actions and die!”
The high lord shouted with glee.
“So that’s your trump card?”
“Hmph. Is that what you think?”
The high lord smiled suggestively.
It seemed like they had others as well.
That being said, there was nothing to do now but to defeat this giant dragon.
As it was bigger than Dorgo, I had to go all out.
I took one step forward and was just about to dash towards the giant evil dragon.
But just then, the giant evil dragon breathed.
It wasn’t fire. It wasn’t wind or water or ice.

The breath was like a dark-colored mud.
I didn’t know what it was. But I had a very bad feeling about it.
“Don’t let it touch you!”
I shouted as I created a magic barrier.
I also made barriers around the water dragons.
Any trees that the black mud touched became dried up in an instant.
“A poison breath!”
The magic barrier shook violently when the poison breath hit it.
—CREEEEAAAAKK
There was an unsettling sound.
It wasn’t just poison. There was strong magic in it.
–CRACK-CRACK
The barrier began to break. I frantically put up another barrier.
Just then, the first one shattered completely.
Only an incredibly powerful breath would have been able to destroy my barrier.
I could not even attack it. It took everything I had to maintain the barrier.
And the giant evil dragon’s breath was not over yet.
“You can sure breath for a long time!”
I could not allow the breath to get passed us.
It would do immense damage if it leaked into the settlement.
Just then, I felt a disturbing presence to my side.
“DIE!”
A vampire lord appeared right next to me as I focused on the barrier.
He swung his sword at me.
“Grrr!”
Grulf bit into the right hand that held the sword.
“Bastard!”
The vampire lord swung the short sword in his left hand.
I tried to protect Grulf from the short sword by making a barrier.
Just then, there was a loud sound and a scream.
“Gaaa…ggg…”
“Things seem to be quite dire over here.”
Dorgo’s fist was protruding from the vampire lord’s stomach.
Dorgo was still in human form.
“Thank you.”
“I am sure you would have managed just fine by yourself, Mister Ruck?”
“Well, thank you. Regardless.”
“I am glad to hear it.”
And then Dorgo looked up at the giant evil dragon.
“Hmm. I suppose it would be better to fight that thing in my dragon form.”
Dorgo said. And with that, he transformed back into a dragon.

Thorns of Jade [A Progression Fantasy LitRPG Adventure]
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Solo Leveling meets Chainsaw Man in this fun new LitRPG Series To become the king of Kissen, Noah Hearts trains to become the strongest swordsman in the world. The only problem — he can’t use Aura at all! Everything changes when he’s left for dead in a forest on the Kissen Fields… In a world where horrific creatures known as “demons” terrorize mankind, those who wield the mysterious force known as “aura” are the only ones who can fight them. These fighters call themselves the “Wolves of Haven”, and strive to create a world where demons no longer roam their lands! Though Noah Hearts is an exceptional swordfighter for a young man, his total inability to use aura means he could never hope to defeat the demons! Despite this major setback, he still hopes to become the king of Kissen and create a better world for those in his country! As he walks home from his daily training, his world is shifted upside down when he sees a few familiar faces in his home… This is the first draft of what I want to be a 9 volume series. I'll be editing, rewriting, and releasing the volumes on Amazon once they're finished. I'll admit, I'm finishing chapters in sprints because I want to participate in the writathon (Apr. 2022) so I apologize if there are some issues with the prose. Point them out to me and I'll fix them! Anyway, I have no backlog, but I plan on uploading chapters as I finish them. I don't want to spend weeks re-editing and never publishing like I used to, so I'm just gonna post when it's done. Like I said, this story is my take on a mix between solo leveling and chainsaw man. Specifically, the MC is the only one that can consciously level up (sort of), and the plot is fast paced and emotional just like chainsaw man. There are plenty of other inspirations, like HxH, Jojo, JJK, Cradle, and even FF6, but the first two are the biggest. Basically, if you don't like Shounen stuff, this probably isn't the story for you. Regardless, I hope you all like the story!

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
