Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Internal Dialogue
Chapter 5: Internal Dialogue
Li Ran panicked to death.
Youluo Temple was ranked top among the devil sects and his beautiful master was a force to be reckoned with. As an expert of the top sect in the entire vast land, the notoriety of the Demoness Leng Wuyan could even stop a child’s sobbing. It’s even said that she had killed enough people to build a mountain of bones.
Moreover, the Youluo Temple had always been strictly disciplined. Those who violated the taboo would be expelled from the sect or even die.
What’s more, what he violated was Leng Wuyan’s most taboo prohibition.
This Shadow Stone must have been given to the Sect Master by junior sister!
That girl actually betrayed me! What should I do now? Li Ran started to rack his brain.
As Li Ran was figuring a way out of this, Leng Wuyan sized up the youth in front of her.
This kid is quite handsome! His face is as white as snow, and his skin is so delicate that women would be jealous. His sword-like eyebrows and starlit eyes are enticing. His figure is tall and well-proportioned. Even under my pressure, he is able to stand straight like a spear.
What a brilliant young man!
Even in the world of immortality, where there was no shortage of handsome men and beauties, Li Ran was definitely the best-looking one.
Coupled with his terrifying cultivation talent, no one could refuse his confession, right?
Even the ice block Leng Wuyan was a little moved!
It turned out that someone liked me. Besides, he’s such a genius too.
But, I’m his teacher, otherwise…
Leng Wuyan hurriedly shook her head vigorously.
“He is my apprentice, what am I thinking about?” She stabilized her mind and said icily. “Don’t you want to explain?”

Li Ran’s heart trembled. Now that he’d been caught, there was no room for denial.
“Master, I have nothing to explain,” Li Ran answered in a small voice.
Leng Wuyan raised her brows, “What do you mean by this?”
Li Ran said, “The scene and the words are self-explanatory. They are all made by me, I have nothing to explain.”
Leng Wuyan snorted coldly, “You know that the sect prohibits romantic relationships, and you, as the Sheng Zi, the heir, and the future sect master, actually took the initiative in breaking the rule. Do you think I would dare not punish you?” Leng Wuyan’s tone was extremely cold.
Li Ran shook his head and replied, “Master, when I was creating the scene, I had anticipated the consequences.”
Leng Wuyan was taken aback. “Since you know the consequences, why would you dare to…”
Li Ran took a step forward, his eyes burning. “Because even the sect rules can’t stop my sincerity!”
For an instant, it seemed that the wind and snow had stopped.
He was taking a gamble.
Leng Wuyan, no matter how ruthless, was essentially a woman. He took on the guise of an infatuated man, a man who was willing to be punished in order to be with his junior sister. As long as he could soften his master’s steel-like heart a bit, he would have a chance of living.
Leng Wuyan’s charming body trembled a bit, but she didn’t expect him to have such courage. How dare he say such things in front of her? He was r-really presumptuous!
“I will pretend that I didn’t hear anything today. You should abandon your feelings; it’s impossible for me to agree.” Leng Wuyan was extremely calm.
Hearing this, Li Ran heaved a sigh of relief.

I never expect you will agree! But this end is better than losing my small life, right?
Anyway, the twenty-four hours time limit hadn’t been reached yet, so he still had a chance to complete the mission.
With that, just as he was just about to leave, Leng Wuyan’s cold voice sounded again, “It seems that the reason why your cultivation has stagnated is just from this, so you will be punished. Go to the Youhan Cave to reflect on your mistakes. Come out after a month.”
Leng Wuyan’s intent was not to punish Li Ran, but she didn’t know how to face him.
“Youhan Cave?” Li Ran frowned. Trouble!
This was a natural cavern on Mount Xuanling, the coldest part of the entire mountain range was condensed inside this cavern. If a mortal were to take a step inside, they would be frozen into a popsicle in a single breath.
Only those at the Golden Core stage and above could bear with the chill inside as they had cultivated the Youluo Temple’s Cultivation Method.
If he was the original Sheng Zi, this punishment was nothing, but it’s different now.
Li Ran’s cultivation base was sealed at present. He couldn’t use the Youluo Temple’s Cultivation Method. He would definitely freeze to death once he went inside!
Even if he were to survive by chance, he would also fail the mission.
No! I can’t enter the Youhan Cave! Li Ran has made a decision.
He strode forward, his high voice pierced the snowstorm. “Master, forgive me, I can not obey you!”
“Huh?” Leng Wuyan’s expression turned colder. “According to our sect rules, anyone who violates this taboo shall have their cultivation abolished and expelled from the sect!”
“You have a great future and this is your first time making a mistake, so I decided to give you a chance. But you are unwilling to accept such a light punishment?”
“No!” Li Ran said loudly. “Since it’s your command, no matter if it’s one month, five years, or ten years, I dare not complain!”
Leng Wuyan asked in doubt, “Then why do you say that you can’t obey me?”
“What I can’t obey is the order to make me abandon my feelings. Only this one matter, I…I really can’t obey!”
“The person I like is the most beautiful existence in the world and has completely stolen my heart.”
“If you make me forget this feeling, isn’t it equal to digging my own heart out!?”
“Therefore, please forgive me for not being able to follow!” Li Ran’s voice trembled, his words were filled with sincerity.
Leng Wuyan: “!!!”

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

Published Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! If dreaming is a drug, then I'm a junkie. For most people, sleeping is an obstacle. Something to get out of the way, so they can get back to their life. For others, it's an escape to nothing, a blissful break from the wears of life. It's the opposite for me. I live so that I can dream; I work so that I can go home and close my eyes, awakening in the real world. My real world. After all, what is reality if not the place where dreams don't come true? Can you visit a land where mountains look like freshly baked phyllo dough, or live in a castle bigger than my apartment complex? Tigers instead of taxes. Monsters instead of men with too much power. Reality is just the word we came up with to accept a mundane life. A birthing place for grander ideas we wish could materialize. I choose to live in a world where they do.

Once you go Wuxxia you never go back. [Not a Parody but moreso a revised wuxxia.]
Robert Nord wakes up from a deep sleep, one he regreted to ever take. Instead of waking up to his well-known, stark, eggshell-white ceiling, atop his luxurious 800€ mattress with down feather duvet and fluffy cushions, he finds himself staring at molden planks of wood, a stench of sweat, blood and iron mellowing in the air. A world of swords that sunder oceans and fists that crack mountainsides. This is a world known throughout the dimensions, a world of wuxxia and xianxia. (This fiction will be parodying many a wuxxia and hopefully do a good job with it. Not only will I try and stress the most ridiculous down-sides of wuxxias but I will also take a shot at making it enjoyable while I'm at it. And don't be fooled by the Lit-RPG tag, after all, every MC needs his secret weapon, regardless how much they try to deny it.)
