Chapter 264: [BONUS] To Get The Mask 3
The mission to get the true ending for Sharina’s quest began at the clan fire. The funeral for Sharina’s son, Draki, was still ongoing.
The huts and tents were empty as everyone gathered at the clan fire to mourn. The only Orcs who weren’t in the fire were two guards posted on the gates and two scouts guarding the ten of the Chieftain’s injured daughter.
The dying clan fire snapped at the sky as the stars swirled above. Zukulum raised her knotty hands, and the wailing clan went silent. They had been mourning for Draki and all the tribe members who died all morning.
By the fire, Sharina’s face was frozen in a stone mask of grief. Her expression was grim and rigid as she stared into the fire. She hadn’t uttered a word since Draki died. She had sent messengers to bring back hunters and scouts to track down the Night Thing, a beast that injured her daughter and killed her son.
The Shaman had spoken after a series of rituals. The Night Thing killed both Orakh and Draki. Orakh was in the forest when the Night Thing attacked him. Draki was also found in the woods came morning with the same wound as Orakh, while Shurna was lying next to Draki with a grievous wound.
No one knew what exactly happened since the ritual only showed the image on who killed the Orcs. But it wasn’t important. The only thing that mattered was, it was the Night Thing that killed both Draki and Orakh, two of their best warriors.
The ceremony was drawing to an end, and soon it would be time to begin the hunt. They would kill the Night Thing tonight! Sharina would no longer settle for less.
There were no longer players present except Ren, Evie, and Ragnar. The Twin Moon Axe clan closed its doors to all players that night and all players who were there before were ask to leave.

Sharina had urgently called for help from other clans. Saurians, Spellskins, and even Druids answered her call, all experts in Divine Magic.
Sharina knew the debt she incurred when she asked for help from other clans and races. A favor for a favor was the price, even if she died fulfilling those favors. She didn’t care. She should have done this in the beginning, and Draki and Orakh might still be alive.
Sharina was overcome with guilt. It really had to come to this before she decided to kill the Night Thing once and for all.
“Is this right?” Though she wasn’t showing it, Evie’s voice was slightly shaking with concern. She knew the ending. Ren had told them before, and there was no stopping it.
[Sharina is in enraged and in mourning. You can’t speak with her yet]
[Zukulum is in enraged and in mourning. You can’t speak with her yet]
A series of notifications rang in their ears when Ren attempted to speak with the Chieftain. It mean that they really can’t stop the flow of events as it unfolded. All they could do was pick a choice when it presented itself, one that led towards the true ending.
“Yes. We can’t stop it. Once we activated the chain of events for the true ending, all we can do is watch until the final battle with the Night Thing,” Ren explained with a voice strangely flat and emotionless.
He was trying to keep his cool facade, but watching a family’s death was truly heart breaking. The image of his mother and father kept flashing in his mind, and this was the part that he hated the most.
The game was too realistic for its own good. And this was one of the true endings that he didn’t like. If it weren’t for the mask, he wouldn’t activate this quest.
Ren took a shaking breath and calmed his nerves. “Let’s get this done and over with.” They didn’t have to do much. There wasn’t even fighting involve. The Orcs had that covered.

The night raged on, and the funeral continued. Ren and the others went to Shurna’s tent, but the guards posted in her hut didn’t let them enter.
“We just wanted to know how she is,” Ren insisted.
“She’s badly injured. She suffered a long slash on her chest, and she insisted that she would see no one.”
“The Chieftain ordered that no visitor allowed except the healer.”
Ren ignored the two guards and said to Shurna who he knew was listening behind her tent, “We know that it’s you who Orakh spoke that night before he died.”
If Shurna wasn’t willing to show herself, then Ren would drag her out whether she liked it or not. It was time to trigger the last step into the finale.
p The two guards looked at each other, confused. They were about to shoo Ren and the others away when they heard a soft growl inside Shurna’s tent. It was low at first before it turned into shrieks.
And before the guards could check if Shurna was alright, the tent burst into pieces, and the Night Thing emerged.

The Aesir took her peace, they took her parents, and then they took her wife. Three years after her wife’s murder, she’s found a new life light years away from Earth. A happy one, most days, with a best friend and captain who understands her, and a shared mission to undo some of the damage the Aesir have done to the Universe and offer relief to anyone who needs it. But the past has a way of rising again. A surprise rescue mission brings Brenn face to face with her wife; delirious, ill, and scarred from the bullets Brenn thought had killed her, but very much alive with a newborn at her breast. A newborn whose very existence could mean intergalactic war. Now Brenn must balance her wife’s delicate mental health, new motherhood, and her own complicated feelings while working with her Captain and their odd bunch of friends and allies to protect her tiny family from a small, but influential group within the Aesir government who will stop at nothing to take back Brenn’s wife and child. All the while, there are whispers of a greater and more ancient power coming to life. A power Brenn’s wife knows more about than she wants to let on. It’s a good thing Brenn is used to fighting. CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.

Lost souls, will be rewritten soon. (Old version)
In a world where mages stand above the peasants, the nobles, and the law, it is not surprising that everyone wants to learn magic. Five siblings from a village in the middle of nowhere felt the same. Unfortunately, a dragon brought ruin to their home, eventually cornering the five blood brothers. Luz, the eldest brother, ignored the warnings of his ancestors for the sake of their survival. Using an ancient teleportation spell, he and his siblings were sucked into a portal leading to God-knows-where. In a foreign place far from home, Luz carries the burden of disobeying his ancestors and losing his younger brothers. He sets off to reunite his siblings and slay the dragon that destroyed their village while only being equipped with one useless space spell that drains all his mana after one usage. Author's note: English isn't my first language and this is the first novel I tried writing, which is why some of the earlier chapters aren't that good, even though I grew better over time. I'm still in the phase of editing a lot of my earlier chapters. But unfortunately, I haven't yet found any time for it. Daily updates are to be expected till we reach chapter 100. If your comment motivates me, I might upload up to five chapters.^^
