(Dream)

U/n and Asuna both sat underneath a tree. The Beater's head laid comfortably on Asuna's lap.

Asuna: Comfortable?

He nods his head happily. Asuna giggles and ran her fingers through his white hair. For U/n, this was paradise. Beside him was the love of his life, playing with his hair underneath a tree.

U/n: I could get used to this.

He smiles contently.

Asuna: U/n?

He opened his eyes to look at Asuna, but when he did, everything around him was red dark void. Nothing can be seen in sight. The Beater panicked, he searched all around him but saw no sign of Asuna anywhere.

U/n: Asuna!

His breathing became heavy, his heart rate accelerating.

Asuna: U/n?

He immediately turned in the direction where Asuna's voice came from and saw her far away from him.

U/n: Asuna!

U/n quickly darted towards her, but suddenly, spider webs appeared in his path. He instinctively went to grab his sword, but realize that he wasn't carrying any sort of weaponry with him. Nothing to help him cut down the webs in front of him.

Seeing no alternative, U/n grabbed hold of the webs and begun tearing them down, ripping them out of his path to Asuna. But the closer he got to her, the more thicker the webs got. Still, he continued to press on, tearing through web after web using only his bare hands.

U/n: Hang on, Asuna! I'm almost there!

Through the webs, he saw Asuna smiling at him.

Asuna: I'm sorry, U/n. But I can't stay for much longer. Forgive me.

U/n: NO! Just give me a little more time! Don't leave!

Asuna: I love you, U/n. Goodbye.

U/n: ASUNA!!!

Just before U/n could tear down the last spider webs in his path, the ground beneath him trembled. Loud footsteps caught his attention. Slowly turning around, he spotted a giant spider behind him.

It's eight eyes all stared directly at him. The spider opened its mouth wide and swallowed U/n whole.

Then, U/n found himself falling through multiple spider webs. He hits all of them on his way down, the last thing he saw was a floor before everything went dark.

(Y/n Pov)

Seeing me go splat on a floor scared me, my eyes opened immediately, and instinctively jumped onto the ceiling of my room. My breathing was heavy, sweat beaded down my face.

That dream, it felt so real. Running to Asuna, tearing through spider webs, and getting eaten by a giant spider. All of it. I looked at my trembling hand, never gotten this shaken up in a while.

I unstuck myself from the ceiling and dropped to the floor. It's been a two months since I cleared SAO, Asuna and the other 300 players still haven't woken up yet. I've been searching, asking but found no leads on who is responsible for this.

On another note, I've been adjusting well to my powers. Now I'm able to stick and unstick whenever I want, less plates have been broken by me. I can safely confirm that Spider-Sense works.

I walked over to the mirror that was on my door and looked at my appearance. Shaggy black hair, tired green eyes. Yup, that looks about right.

Y/n: You look terrible, Y/n. What would Asuna say when she sees you like this?

(Timeskip)

Have a terrible realistic nightmare, check. Have a really awkward breakfast with your parents, check. Well not quite.

Ever since SAO, my parents have seem to be... spoiling me. Giving me a whole new comfortable bed, the most expensive phone ever, heck they even considered getting me a car. I guess they still feel guilty, me getting these powers were unexpected. They made life quite hard, especially since I was still recovering.

The food we ate were eggs and bacon. My mom's cooking is still good as ever, but I gotten used to Asuna's cooking I barely even registered mom's.

I was lost in my thoughts until I felt something poking my shoulder. I turned around and saw mother, holding a key card in her hand. Grabbing it from her hand, I looked at it curiously.

Y/n: This is?

Mary: Come. I'll show you.

She walks away from the table with no further explanation. Me being curious, I followed her. This led me over to the door that leads into the basement. Where I found the spider.

Y/n: Nice security system. Seen you guys decided to change it.

Yup, instead of a DNA scanner, it's just a normal keypad one.

Mary: We did, since a certain someone decided to break in and take a little peak.

Y/n: That's what you get for raising a genius. Well, not really.

Mom slid the card through a slot right next to the keypad and the door opened.

Y/n: Mind telling me why you taking me here?

Mary: To explain everything. We want you to understand why we created the spider.

Mom walked down the stairs and I followed her.

Mary: That spider that bit you, we were gonna destroy. It was too dangerous for it to be kept alive. We feared what would happen if it fallen in the wrong hands.

Y/n: Then why create it? If it's so dangerous why keep it in our basement?

Mary: It's original purpose was to help look for a cure for diseases. We created the spider for good, but Oscorp only wanted to use it for weapons. Truth be told, we had ten spiders, but we killed nine of them and kept the last one.

We reached the last step and made our way over to the board where I saw pictures of Ghost-Spider and Spider-man. But instead of their pictures on the board, there were notes about the NerveGear. SAO, Akihiko Kayaba, and anything else related.

Mary: We hoped to have found a breakthrough while it was here and had no luck in that regard. So me and Richard thought it be best if we killed it. But, you know how that turned out.

Y/n: Yeah, but if I hadn't done that, I probably would be dead. So maybe it was a good thing it bit me.

Mary: You don't understand Y/n. There was a risk to it. You weren't the only one who was subjected to the cross-species experiment. The difference is, you weren't meant to be one.

I put my hands in front of me. Did I hear her right?

Y/n: Whoa whoa, whoa! Did I hear you right? I wasn't the first?

Mary: Yes. There are six Cross-species, you make number six.

Y/n: Are you telling me there are others out there like me?

Mary: Not all of them are just like you. Some weren't even human. But you are the first one to actually turn out right, the perfect Cross-species.

Hearing this news hits me differently. I thought I was the only Cross-species out there, but now, there are five more just like me. Out there, somewhere.

Y/n: Why are you telling me all this?

Mary: 'Cause you deserve the truth. Me and your father brought monsters into this world and somewhere, in this city, Oscorp as them tucked away in a secure location.

Y/n: You and father? What do you mean, you'd brought them into this world?

Mom runs a hand through her hair, her other shaking uncontrollably.

Mary: The spiders were our first experiments, out of many. Oscorp funded our research, and with the help of our friend, Curt Connors, our work began to expand. Let's of nights we experimented on animals, on people. We had enough. We burned all our notes on Cross-species genetics in hope it may never be used again, and we left Oscorp.

Y/n: That's a lot to take in. But I doubt Oscorp will just let you go like that.

Mom nodded in agreement.

Mary: I thought so too, but your father made a deal with a secret organization. He told them all they needed to know and they offered us protection. As you can see, it worked out.

Everything I was told was a lot to take in. Oscorp. Cross-species. Secret Organization. Seems like trouble runs in our family.

Y/n: Why have pictures of Ghost-Spider and Spider-man down here?

She walks over to the table next to the board and grabbed a file. She hands it to me.

Mary: We sought to right our wrongs, so we enhanced the spider. Not only will its venom cure people, but give them powers as well. That's why we had pictures of them, we studied them. Their strengths, weaknesses. Everything.

I opened the file mom gave me and my eyes widened. She was telling the truth. There documents about them. How much they can lift, their speed, Spider-man's Bio-electricity and Optical Camouflage. It's all in here.

Mary: They got their powers from a radioactive spider. The spider that bit you altered your DNA structure entirely. Giving you powers just like them, but on a stronger scale.

Y/n: Stronger? What do you mean by that?

Richard: You're stronger than them.

I turned around when I heard father's voice. He leaned back against a wall.

Richard: We replicated their power and modifications to it. Was not an easy feat, but we weren't sure if we were successful or not. That's why we made the decision to destroy the spider, if it somehow managed to escape or that if someone stole it.

He walks over to me and places a hand on my shoulder.

Richard: When we got back home, we thought the spider had escaped. We went to review the recordings and saw you entering the basement. You knocked over the glass container and the spider jumped on you.

Y/n: I'd noticed.

Richard: Thought so. When we went to your room to confront you, you were laying in bed with that NerveGear. I tried to take it off your head but you smacked my hand away.

Y/n: So that's what it was. Akihiko Kayaba told us about the NerveGear frying if we died, my head started to throb, like a ringing sensation in my head.

Richard: Yeah, that's what it probably was. Me almost killing you when I tried to take the NerveGear off. A little later after that, we heard the news. We panicked didn't know what to do, so we put you downstairs and all those wires hooked up to you. A year later, Reed Richards came and took you. The rest is known.

I continued to look through the documents in the files. They even recorded the way how they swing. Their fighting styles, the enemies they faced, all of it.

Y/n: Thanks... for telling me this. I appreciate it.

Mary: Y/n, I got a question for you. What will you do with this power? Follow the footsteps as Spider-man and Ghost-Spider or live a regular life.

I have told myself this a dozen times, but had no idea how to answer it. My life is anything but normal now, survived SAO and got powers.

My phone vibrated in my pocket. It's time for me to head out.

Y/n: I have to think about it, but I gotta get going. I'll be back home, soon.

Mary: You're going to the hospital again, aren't you?

I nodded.

Richard: We'll leave some food in the fridge for you when you return.

Y/n: Thanks.

Turning around, I made my way up the stairs. On bike, it should take around 50-60 minutes to get to the hospital. Luckily for me, I got another form of transportation.

(Timeskip)

When I was younger, I used to walk all over Tokyo. Sure, it's the slowest way to get around, but something about it makes it so soothing to me.

It's been a while since I last went somewhere using my feet. But I'm not exactly walking. No, I'm doing something more exciting. What's more exciting than walking? How about jumping from roof to roof?

People below see me jumping high in the air, all of them pointing at me. The only people you see doing this type of thing is Spider-man and Ghost-Spider.

Landing on top of a roof, I rolled forward and kept my momentum going. I was fast, faster than before. These powers are amazing!

I continued to run forward at a very high speed. This speed matches mine in SAO, it's like I never left.

I jumped off the roof I was running and landed on top of the next one.

Y/n: This is amazing.

In front of me was a 140-foot building. This is a perfect chance to test the limits of my powers. Picking up my pace I got closer and closer to the edge of the roof and when I reached it, I jumped high as I could.

I managed to stick on the building, sticking just higher than then half the size of the building. I looked at the small building I was running on top, comparing its height to the one I was sticking to. It's gotta be at least 40 feet high. Meaning I jumped approximately....

Y/n: 60! I jumped 60 feet in the air! That's crazy!

But somewhere deep inside me, I know I could jump higher than that. But I'm still getting the hang of these powers. Still though, 60 feet. It's mind-boggling.

I looked at my reflection through the glass window. Not exactly a suit like those two wear, but it prevents people from seeing my face. Win-win.

Slowly, I started to crawl up the wall. I never been this high before. Maybe I should've thought about this before jumping. Too late now.

(No One's POV)

On a roof next to the building Y/n was on, Miles and Gwen, in their suits watch Y/n crawl up.

Ghost-Spider: Think we should help him?

Spider-man: Not yet, he's gotta learn this himself. If he falls we'll catch him, but there are some things he needs to do himself. If we help him now, then he'll never grow.

Ghost-Spider: I guess your right. But when he is ready, what should we really teach him in?

Spider-man: I'd say web-swinging. He'll get to places faster instead of running on top of roofs. But, he is fast, I'll give him that.

Gwen watched as Y/n nearly reaches the top.

Ghost-Spider: One day, we are gonna have to tell him who we are.

Spider-man: Yeah.

Finally, Y/n made it to the top. He raised both his arms and yelled at the top of his lungs excitedly.

Ghost-Spider: Glad to see some things didn't change.

Spider-man: So am I.

(Timeskip, Y/n Pov)

Man, getting down that building was a pain, but I did it. And after that I continued my way over to the hospital Asuna was at. I dropped down in an alleyway, taking off my mask and putting it in my pocket. Yes, very simple.

Maybe it was my imagination but during my time running on the roofs, I couldn't help but feel like someone was watching me. Oh well, shouldn't think too much on it.

Entering the lobby, I made my way to the staff at the front desk. After coming here numerous times, she knew why I was here. So, all I had to do was fill out my name on the visitor list and she gives me a card. Simple as that.

Making my way to the elevator, I pressed the call button and waited patiently. After a few seconds, the door opened and multiple came out. I stepped to the side as they all walked out. Once everyone was out, I entered the elevator, pressed the 12th-floor button and was on my way to Asuna.

Of course being a hospital, you would expect that boring hold elevator music. Should've brought my headphones, but they probably fell of my neck while running.

The ding sound can be heard, telling me I'm on my desired floor. The doors opened, revealing other people waiting for the elevator. They stepped aside, letting me pass, we exchanged nods and I made my way to Asuna's room.

Arriving at her room, I slid the card through the slot, and a green light appeared, telling me that the door is unlocked. I opened the door, and the first thing I was was the curtain in the room. Behind laid Asuna, on her bed.

I walked forward and grabbed the curtains, sliding it to the side, I saw Asuna. Still asleep with the NerveGear on her head.

I stood right next to her bed, taking her hand into mine. That warmth feeling I had every time I hold her hand doesn't appear. Only cold.

Y/n: Heya, Asuna. Sorry it took me a while to get here. The birds don't exactly like it when I trespass in their turf. Still picking some feathers out of my jacket. How you holding up?

I don't get no response.

Y/n: Yeah, I figured.

I heard the door open as footsteps approached us. Shouzou came in, holding flowers. He sees me next to Asuna and smiled.

Shouzou: Y/n. Sorry-- I didn't know you were here. Thank you for coming.

Y/n: Hello, Mr. Yuuki. Hope you don't mind me dropping by.

Shouzou: Please. You can visit whenever you like. I know it makes her happy.

He walks on the other side of the bed, placing the flowers he has down on a cabinet.

Then, I heard another footstep appear.

???: Sir.

I turned to the voice and saw a man wearing glasses and a black suit. You'll catch me wearing one of those.

Shouzou: Oh. I don't think the two of you have ever met. This is Sugou.

He gestured to him.

Shouzou: He's our company's director of R&D.

He smiles.

Sugou: I'm Nobuyuki Sugou. It's a pleasure.

He seems nice.

Y/n: Y/n L/n. Nice to meet you.

He gasps and made his way over to me, taking my hand into his, he shakes my hand enthusiastically.

Sugou: You're The U/n? You're a Hero. It's an honor!

Okay, I'm definitely weirded out now.

Shouzou: Oh. I-I'm sorry. I know we're not supposed to talk about what happened inside the SAO server. But he's my partner's son, so it's fine. Beside, I've always thought of him as part of my family.

He chuckles at this and turns to Shouzou.

Sugou: Uh, actually, sir... speaking of family... if I may, I'd like to make it official as soon as possible.

Shouzou's eyes widened.

Shouzou: This is sudden. Are you sure this is really what you want? I mean, you're still young. You have your whole life ahead of you.

Sugou: Thank you for your concern, but my heart's set on it. It sounds strange, but even though she's like this, she's still beautiful.

I raised my eyebrow at this. What is happening right now?

Sugou: I'd like to see her in that wedding dress.

My heart felt like it just got dropped. My eyes widened from what I heard. This can't be.

Shouzou: You have a point. The sooner we prepare ourselves for the inevitable, the better.

He sees the time just about Asuna's bed.

Shouzou: Sorry to cut the conversation short. I have a meeting to get to. We can talk more about this later. Y/n, take care.

Like that, he leaves the room. Leaving me alone with Sugou. It was like the world around me was swept up underneath my feet.

Sugou walks away from me and went to the opposite side of the bed, where Shouzou was standing at.

Sugou: I heard you and Asuna were lovers in the game. Is that true?

Y/n: Still are.

He leans forward towards Asuna.

Sugou: That is unfortunate. It's going to make for one complicated relationship between you and I.

He grabs a strand of Asuna's hair and brought it to his nose, sniffing it. This angers me.

Sugou: In case you're curious, her father and I were discussing her marriage-- to me.
