《With Great Power ( Sword Art Online x Male Reader)》Return

Everything seemed unbelievable, the things I've been told, I couldn't believe it. Me having powers? It seemed impossible, but the spider that bit me before I entered SAO changed the structure of my DNA. Cross-species genetics, to be precise.
My DNA had been altered by the spider granting me powers of that of a spider. Super strength, accelerated healing, not super fast but it's something. The ability to crawl up walls, Spider-Sense, a warning in my head altering me of danger. Optical Camouflage and lastly, Bio-electricity
The last two I am unable to use, maybe there has to be requirements that I have yet to access these powers. It's been two weeks since I cleared SAO and saved everyone, well not everyone. The 3,853 players that died, will never come back. Just as he said, the NerveGear fried their brains, killing them.
I spent the last two weeks inside the Baxter Building, home of the Fantastic Four. They've been running tests on me, trying to see the difference between me and Spider-man.
The other SAO survivors are still recovering, on the other hand. Can't say I'm in the same boat as they are. I've been able to walk for a while, these powers are quite crazy. But, I had a massive appetite for days, heck, I even ate more than Ben Grimm. That's saying something.
I asked Reed Richards and Susan Storm to see if they can find anything about Asuna for me, where she's at and how she's doing, stuff like that. They agreed to this and said they'd inform me of any news they might uncover. All I can do right now is try and adapt to my powers.
Everytime I let my guard down, I accidentally break something. Glass cups, plates, sinks, heck I even ripped off a door from its hinges just trying to use the bathroom.
This ain't nothing compared to my ability to stick to things. A fork got stuck on my hand, napkins, one-time my hand stuck to Ben and we spent the last two hours trying to get free. Having to spend two hours stuck to the Thing was very interesting.
Susan has been trying to help me turn invisible, since you know, her Superhero name is "Invisible Woman." No luck on that part, can't turn invisible.
At the moment, I'm in some sort of living room, playing chess with Johnny. Everytime I beat him in it, he threatened to burn the chess board.
Y/n: Calm down, it's just a game.
Johnny: Just a game?! This ain't a game! You made it into a war zone. Everytime I have you behind a corner, you always seem to wiggle out of it and turn the tables on me!
Y/n: Man, I escaped SAO, I'm not looking to be flambe'd by you. I'll let you win, so don't burn off my three chest hairs man.
Johnny: No. We keep playing until I win fair and square.
I raise my hands defensively.
Y/n: Okay... yeah, we'll keep playing.
I looked back at the board, we stayed silent as I started to destroy him. But then, Reed and Susan came into the room. Me and Johnny turned to them.
Susan: We uh, found her.
I immediately sat up from my chair.
Y/n: Asuna? You found her?
Reed: Yes, she's in Tokorozawa General Hospital. Her family had her sent there.
Y/n: Thank you!
I was just about to leave the room, until Susan stopped me by placing a hand on my shoulder.
Susan: There's something you need to know.
(Timeskip)
"Asuna Yuuki" that was the name of the occupant inside the room I'm in front of. Mom and Dad came to get me, I guess they felt guilty for what was happening to me cause they haven't said a single thing to me.

Reed said it'd be a good idea for me to pretend I couldn't walk, to avoid raising suspicions. I was given a wheelchair before I left. Mom helped push me to Asuna's room when we got here.
Susan told me that Asuna and 300 other players like her haven't woken up yet. From what I hear, people are blaming Akihiko Kayaba for this. Saying that this is his last play. But I don't believe that, sure he is responsible for keeping us trapped in SAO for two years. He wouldn't go back on his word, he's not that type of person, meaning that someone else is behind this, someone working in the shadows. From my perspective, my fight isn't over. Not yet.
Mom opened the door for me and inside, I saw a older man standing right next to a bed. He saw me and Mom and the look of surprise was plastered on his face.
???: Mary. This is quite a surprise. Didn't expect to see you here.
Mary: Hi, Shouzou. Been a while.
Shouzou: It certainly has. And I guess this young man here is your son?
Mary: He is. Y/n, this is Yuuki Shouzou, Shouzou, this is Y/n.
That last name, it's Asuna's.
Y/n: Are you, Asuna's father?
He nods.
Shouzou: I am. Am I to believe that you know my daughter?
Y/n: Yeah... she's my, wife. In the game, we met on the front lines. She's hella of a Swordswoman.
Shouzou: Wife?
Y/n: Yes. In the game, my name was U/n.
His eyes widened. He hurriedly walked over to me and grasp my hand, shaking it excitedly.
Shouzou: I heard about you. U/n, more commonly known as the "White Devil." Every story I heard about you is incredible. "A man with no fear." "Selfless Crusader."
Y/n: People say that about me? Could've fooled me. How is she?
He lets go of my hand and looked back at Asuna.
Shouzou: She's alright. Nothing hasn't happened to her.
I wheeled myself closer to her and stopped at the foot of her bed. She looked beautiful, but the heavy weight in my heart made it hard to admire her beauty.
Shouzou: I'll let you two have some space.
Shouzou left with a bow. My mom stayed put, watching me. I got up from my wheelchair and walked over to the side of her bed.
Mary: I'll make sure no one comes in, I'm sorry son.
I can hear the door closed when mom exited the room. I was alone with Asuna.
Y/n: I'm sorry. I couldn't keep my promise.
The tears I tried so hard to hold back came spilling out. Leaving twin trails of wetness down the side of my face. I took her hand into my mine, hoping to feel that warmth, but all I got was a cold hand.
Y/n: Asuna.... Asuna.... I'm sorry!
My head dropped, the aching feeling in my heart grew more and more with each second I was with her. Nothing can be done, there's no way I could get her out now.
Y/n: I loved you too, so very much.
I clenched my left fist so hard blood started to drip down on the floor. I failed her.
Y/n: Asuna...
Y/n: Yes. It's not over.
Y/n: I refuse to accept this. No, I won't allow this. I'll find a way, to bring you back. So please...
Wait for me.
(One week later)
News of my friends slowly recovering reached me. Nothing made me happier to see all of them doing well. Kirito or Kazuto Kirigaya managed to message me said that he was glad that I made it back to the real world in one piece. Wish I could agree with him, but a piece of me is still missing. Asuna.

I still have to get used to that feeling of waking up alone. I'm still used to waking up in our little log cabin, and seeing Asuna's face next to mine, her beautiful smile. "Hell is loving you in my sleep and waking up alone". A saying that I heard before and never got to experience, until now.
It's hard for me to go back what I used to do. Miles comes over with his equipment, saying that we should make beats like we used to do. Something I missed doing with him, but found it hard to get back into. I sometimes mess up the settings or record the wrong sound and mess up the whole thing.
Gwen, will come over as well, playing videos of the concerts she was a part of. Seeing her and the band on stage playing made me quite sad. I used to be in the crowd, right in the front listening to them play. I always went to one, never missed a single one.
At the moment, Gwen sat with me on my bed. She could tell, I'm not the same person I was before. Yeah, I matured somewhat in SAO. Still told my silly jokes, but I know I'm not the same.
Gwen: So, how you been?
Y/n: I'm alright, just needs getting used to. Had this little routine in SAO. Wake up, eat, and hunt monsters. Head back to town and eat some of Asuna's cooking.
Gwen: That's good. I've noticed you've been visiting that girl a lot lately. You even brought her up in conversations. She must've been a good partner for you.
Y/n: She was the best. No one knew me quite well as she did. Her fighting style complimented my own, I hit hard and fast. Asuna, she's faster with a blade than I am, fast and precise. She's the best Swordswoman I ever met.
Gwen listened to me, not saying a single word.
Y/n: When we first met, she really wasn't that talkative. Always quiet. Then, the first boss, we took it down together. We worked well even then.
I'll have dreams of me still trapped in SAO. To be honest, I wish I was. The time I spent with Asuna affected me in many ways. Thinking she'll be beside me every time I wake up in bed, expecting to see her in the living room, smiling brightly at me.
Alas, it was all in my head.
Y/n: She was really strict, uptight. Became a badass floor clearer. But in reality, she was just like the rest of us, a person fighting to escape that nightmare. But she also had a soft side. We became friends when we solved a case, a real nerve-wracking one. Since then, she's been hanging out with me a lot.
Gwen: So you two became friends? That's nice, I'm glad you had someone to watch your back.
Y/n: I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her, she saved me. And apologized to me, for causing much trouble. That was when I kissed her.
Gwen gasped. The expression on her face lowered into a saddened one. This caught my attention.
Y/n: You okay, Gwen?
She flashes a fake smile at me.
Gwen: I'm fine, nothing to worry about.
Somehow that doesn't convince me. There's something definitely on her mind, she just doesn't wanna say what it is.
Gwen: Anyway, I have to get going. Band practice and all. If you're feeling up to it, you should come drop by.
Y/n: Yeah, I will. See ya, Gwen.
She sits up from the bed and nodded. I watched as she opened the door to my room and walked, not before closing the door behind her.
I let out a sigh and turned my attention over to the wheelchair next to my bed.
Y/n: Gwen... what's wrong?
I got up from my bed and walked over to my door. Grabbing the handle, I went to push my door open, but instead broke it off from its hinges.
Y/n: Damnit! Not again!
I sighed deeply and looked at my window, staring at the dark outside.
(Gwen Stacy)
It's only been a couple of minutes since Gwen left Y/n's home. The feeling of sadness weighed heavy in her heart.
On the side of a building, Gwen went through multiple photos of her and Y/n on her phone. People below the building saw her as Ghost-Spider, some of them stopped and looked up at her, wondering what exactly she's doing.
Her thoughts were on him, Y/n. She's been visiting him every day since he was trapped in SAO. Waiting patiently for his return from the death game. She had so many things to tell him, things she wanted to confess to him. Her being Ghost-Spider and her feelings towards him.
But alas, her dream of being with the man she loves was crushed, ruined before she can even say it. His heart was taken, by Asuna Yuuki.
Gwen's heart yearned for him, the way he talks to her. Showing up to all her concerts on time, always in front cheering louder than anyone there. Gwen was so happy to have heard Y/n woke up after being asleep for 2 years.
Thinking now was the time to confess her feelings, Gwen sought out Y/n just for me to say that he's already in love with someone else.
Why and what if's filled her head. Maybe if she confessed her feelings earlier, they'd be together now, or if he never got trapped in SAO.
Ghost-Spider: Fate can be so cruel, why. Why her and not me? Things never go my way.
Spider-man: You okay?
Gwen looked to the right and saw Miles right next to her, sticking to the wall beside her.
Ghost-Spider: Not really.
He scooted closer to her.
Spider-man: Wanna talk about it?
Gwen didn't say anything, she continued to stare at the picture of her and Y/n.
Spider-man: You loved him, didn't you?
Gwen freezes. She slowly turned to Miles, the look of surprise was plastered on her face underneath the mask.
Ghost-Spider: Was it that obvious?
Spider-man: Yes. To be honest, I was rooting for you. The two of you would've looked great together.
Gwen reached out to Miles and wrapped her arms around him, enveloping him in a hug. Miles did the same, wrapped his arms around the sobbing Ghost-Spider.
Gwen: I don't know what to do. He meant so much to me.
Miles: I know, but he made his choice. The only thing we can do for him is to support him and teach him. That's the best thing we can do for him.
Gwen continued to cry in Miles's arms and the only thing he could think of is to pat her on the back.
(No One's POV, Y/n)
Y/n stood atop his home, staring at the starless night sky. His hands were in his pockets. His thoughts dawned on Asuna. Remembering their happy moments in Aincrad, their first kiss. Purchasing a house together, meeting their first child.
Y/n: Hang in there Asuna, I'll save you. We'll go on real dates, get married for real, and grow old together, just like you wanted. Just wait for me, you're Hero will come and save you.
He sees an image of Asuna in the sky. This makes him take out one of the hands in his pockets and reach at the night sky, hoping to reach her. But alas, it was all in his head.
That image of Asuna soon faded away, seeing this made the Swordsman look sadly at the sky. He closes his fist as a faint blue crackle of electricity courses through his fist.
Y/n: I love you Asuna.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
