My life

The story of my life is one from a fantasy novel. A scientist with a fling and issues with her parents. Her work was all that mattered to her until she met two identical blue-haired men.

She found love, she felt love like no other... But their story was anything but romantic. She had a bond with them that was based on a cruel woman's malicious intent. A plan carefully crafted to open the borders of the land, Lunaria.

She came across a vampire, who started as a friend... Then she feared him after he fed on her sweet blood. Then she fell for him and the bond was real. The love was real, everything was real.

She was supposed to be crowned Queen of the supernaturals, even if they did not want her to be. She was uncertain about the whole thing and she didn't know how to prove that she was worthy.

Soon war came upon the land. She risked her life for them all, allowing her fragile body to take millions worth of electricity into it, all in the form of magic. Someone had jumped in to save her, Silas.

When Precious took her last breath, it was a scream of misery. She collapsed on the ground, her body shriveling up and making her look like a fresh raisin. The creatures all jeered in joy, amazed by the victory. They jumped about, singing and dancing around the corpse of their enemy.

The vampire that loved the human fell on his knees next to her, shaking her body to wake her up. She was still breathing, though it was faint. The man next to her, that had risked her life, was no more.

Silas was no more.

"It seems that all is well." A vampire male said, fixing his glasses. He looked down at me once more and nodded when he saw that I was alright. "When the hybrid, Silas, jumped in the vortex with you, it seems that all of the deadly energy went to his body and you instead inherited the powers. You are truly lucky to be alive."

I looked down, thinking back to the time when the hypnotic light of the vortex ended and I was back on land. The pain ceased, the screams silenced and most importantly, I was alive.

I remembered looking to my left to find Silas laying limp next to me. Blood crept through his lips and dripped down his cheek. He didn't make a single move, he didn't even breathe. I remember screaming for him, grabbing onto him for dear life. Alexander hugged me tightly, trying to pull me away but I refused to let Silas go. He needed to live. I couldn't find it in me to even begin to cope with the pain of losing him.

He died... For me.

Sei was in the most pain. When Precious' potion wore off, he remembered all that he had done but he could not even apologize to Silas. He was too late.

"Thank you, doctor. You may excuse us." Alexander said. The vampire nodded and gave a slight bow before he turned on his heel to make his way out. After he shut the door, Alexander moved to sit on the bed next to me, his hand linking with mine.

We were both still in our messy battle clothes. It's only been two hours since everything happened.

A single tear fell down my cheek. I was relieved that this was all over, but all of the losses and sacrifices made squeezed the joy out of my heart. I didn't even want to know how many creatures were dead... I just knew that the number was great.

Alexander also looked like he was at a loss for words. His white jersey had a dry patch of red where his arm had been cut but he didn't look like he was in pain. He stared at my hand, slowly tracing the outlines of my nails.

The silence between us was comfortable, it felt right.

A knock on the door made my heart jump, and Alexander frowned as he called the person to enter. It was Sapphire and behind her, was Valedria.

She ran to Alexander and wrapped him in a tight hug, tears rolling down her face. "Oh, Alex. I'm so happy that you are okay. I was so worried."

He smiled, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "Minor injuries... I'm glad to see you safe and well."

Sapphire nodded and stepped to me, hugging me with less force. She was probably considering that I was human or still in pain.

Oh, wait... I'm not human anymore.

The thought made me shake in discomfort.

Sapphire pulled away, her face falling. "Sorry, did I make you uncomfortable?"

I blinked and quickly shook my head, "No... Of course not, it's just... I'm still surprised that I'm not, you know."

"Not what?"

"...human anymore." I finished my statement. Sapphire looked at Valedria and Alexander for confirmation. Alexander nodded at her and she gasped in surprise. Valedria also looked surprised as it was his first time hearing this. "Goodness, are you okay? What have you become?"

"The last living sorceress in this world," Alexander told his parents. "The creatures are unaware of what happened. We won't let anyone know unless Akielia feels comfortable with it."

Valedria stared at us like we were crazy, "Won't announce? You absolutely must! This is the biggest news in Lunaria history. Akielia will be accepted as queen because she is finally worthy."

Sapphire slapped his arm and glared at him. "Valedria, I know your heart is as hard as a rock but this is all so shocking for Akielia. Allow her a few days to figure out what she wants and then we can take it from there. It is her decision."

Valedria sighed, "What are we to tell the others in the meantime? No one knows that it is Akielia that saved their lives. Hell, they don't even know that she's alive right now."

"You're a really good liar, figure it out." Sapphire snapped at him. Valedria glared at her and she crossed her arms, glaring at him even harder. Alexander sighed, wrapping his arm around my waist and rubbing my back. "Mother, father, please do this elsewhere. My girlfriend still needs to regain her energy and we both have a lot to speak about."

Sapphire turned and quickly nodded, "right of course. I'm so sorry. We'll be on our way."

"On your way to Goliath, huh?" Valedria hissed at her as they pushed each other out of the room.

"Well, he does treat me better than you treated me, you sad fool."

"He's not better than me in the bedroom."

The door was shut again and I released a heavy breath, leaning against Alexander. He kissed my forehead, pulling me closer to him. "Nothing could have ever prepared me for when Daffodil told me that you were dying." He whispered to me. "Seeing you in pain, I could physically feel it and I wanted nothing more than to take it and put it all in me."

"I'm okay now," I told him, looking up at him.

"Still... Just... Just don't ever keep something like that from me again." He pleaded softly. "What would I do if you ever left me?"

I don't know...

"What matters now is that it's all over."

"Partially over," Alexander said. I looked at him with a frown. Please don't tell me that more problems are yet to come.

"You still need to decide if we're starting our lives back on Earth or if you're willing to be Queen."

Right...

"Your powers don't seem strong as yet, probably because you don't know how to use them. Meaning that they won't cause a problem for us if you decide you want us to go back to Earth." He told me, "If you want to stay, we can have Daffodil become your trainer and you'll be crowned immediately after you learn the basics."

"What do you want?" I asked him.

"It's always been my dream to become lord, but I will do anything for you. I'll even forget I ever wanted to rule."

But then my new powers would all go to waste.

What about all of the things I could do for these creatures? There's peace in this land that I have never seen on earth. Here, everyone is respectful and accepting of one another... At least most of the population. Plus, I get to be Queen! My little sister can grow up and be raised by fairies.

What about Mica?

"My job... My friends... I'll never see them again." I whispered.

"Well, you could always go over to Earth. Pretend as you live on another continent. And you don't need to stop doing science. This place could use some more technology. You could bring all of that to us."

He's right... My being here doesn't mean that my dreams have to be forgotten. Plus, my parents would probably scream in fell when they see me becoming more than what they wanted. They wanted an engineer? How about I become a QUEEN?

In your face mom and dad!

I smiled and nodded, "Let's stay."

Alexander smiled widely and quickly kissed me, making me laugh. "Let's freaking stay." He said excitedly.

I closed my eyes as he wrapped his arms around me, thinking of all of the possibilities that were yet to come. Being queen was going to be amazing.

But little did I know, there would be a threat much greater than I could have ever been prepared for.
