Worshipper Arc. Chapter 25.
Seeking your magic.
After Valoran erased the entire mountain range the class, especially Perla, is speechless.
“We should continue with the lesson…but first.” Valoran snaps his fingers and reconstructs the entire mountain using taslan (creation magic) down to the subatomic level.
“There we can’t have an entire mountain range disappear now can we?” Valoran says with sarcasm.
Perla walks past Valoran avoiding direct eye contact with him.
After that display of talent no one wanted to face Valoran.
Another hour passes and the day is over and the students are leaving the academy for the day.
Sara,Yuka and Elly kindly say their goodbyes to Valoran and the four split ways.
Valoran makes it home where Aelina is waiting for him.
“Oh good, your home. How was your first day at the Halivaara second academy? I hope they didn’t dislike you.” Aelina questions with excitement which turns to worry.
“It was fine Mother. No need to worry.” Valoran reassures.
“Ah I see…that’s good.” Aelina says with unusual happiness even for her.
“Mother, you seem unusually happy today. As a matter of fact, I noticed that for the last few days, you’ve been surrounded by a purely positive aura emitting happiness, excitement and joy.” Valoran is happy to see his Mother being in such a good mood lately despite the threats recently.
“Well you see…there is a reason for it.” Aelina mentions with a giggle.
“Whatever the reason is, I’m thankful for it.” Valoran responds.
“Would you like to know?” Aelina asks with curiosity.
Valoran who values privacy hence, he didn’t ask her what is going on with Aelina recently does agree to hear her out.
“Sure Mother.” Valoran voices.
“I-I’ve been seeing someone for the past few days…I really like him and I wish for you to meet him.” Aelina requests kindly,
Aelina is worried that Valoran could be not on board that she’s starting a relationship.
Valoran, who values his Mother's happiness over everything, even his own life does of course want to meet the person that brings his Mother all the happiness she deserves.
“Of course I wish to meet the person that brings my Mother happiness and joy.” Valoran agrees.
Aelina is thrilled to hear this. “Okay! I will let you know when you can meet him.”
Valoran heads up the stairs when Aelina calls out to him. “Valoran.”

Valoran stops and turns around to face her.
“Yes?” He asks curiously.
“W-Well I forgot to mention that…” Aelina nervously plays with her fingers.
Valoran waits patiently for his Mother to reveal what she needs to get off her chest.
“You see…the man was married and has two daughters about your age.” Aelina expresses with anxiety out of fear that it could perhaps upset Valoran.
“I see. Don’t worry Mother, it's fine and I can’t wait to meet them.” He reassures.
After Valoran ate his dinner and Artemsia came home he made his way to his room.
Valoran casts astral (telepathy magic) to speak with his friends: Demonlise, Atticus, Merial, Selina, Biatrix and Artemsia.
“Can you all hear me?” Valoran questions.
“Yes we can all hear you and each other.” Demonlise, Atticus, Merial, Selina, Biatrix and Artemsia respond.
“How was your day? Did you get some hateful looks today?” Biatrix asks with a giggle.
“My day was quite alright, and to answer your second question yes I got some hateful looks Biatrix.” Valoran answers.
“Oh my…” Biatrix expresses with sarcasm.
“I hope it wasn’t too bad.” Merial expresses guilt since she herself was a third year at the second Halivaara magic academy.
“Don’t worry, it wasn’t anything that I wasn’t already used to.” Valoran reassures.
“Biatrix, you really know how to ask the most inappropriate questions.” Selina tells off Biatrix.
“Oops my mad.” Biatrix once again counters with sarcasm.
“Let’s get to the actual topic I wanted to speak of.” Valoran now says seriously.
“Demonlise, did you pick up any unusual activity that could perhaps turn out to be a threat?” Valoran worries for the academy's safety.
“No. Nothing unusual so far.” Demonlise answers.
“I see. It’s only been one day, keep your eyes open at all times.” Valoran instructs Demonlise.
“I will…You can count on us to defend the academy should anything happen.” Demonlise reassures.
Valoran notices that Atticus is awfully quiet.
“Atticus are you alright? You are a silent one today.” Valoran wants to make sure that he is okay.
“U-Uhm it’s nothing. I've just been studying a lot these past few weeks and I'm exhausted.” Atticus replies.
“Atticus. I’m proud of you that you put in this much effort into studying magic, but don’t overwork yourself, you have come a long way since I first met you, and you will go further but it will take time, don’t rush yourself you need to remember that.” Valoran kindly instructs Atticus.

Atticus sighs. “You're right. I will take it slower from now on.” He says with exhaustion.
“Very good.” Valoran says.
“It’s getting late. We should all get some rest.” Valoran states.
The others agree and stop casting astral (telepathy magic)
The next morning.
Valoran leaves his home and heads for Halivaara second academy.
“See you later.” Valoran says to both Aelina and Artemsia.
“See you later, have a good day.” Artemsia and Aelina respond.
He arrives at the academy where Yuka, Sara and Elly are already sitting in their seats.
They greet Valoran, and Valoran kindly greets them back and takes his seat next to them.
“Are you ready for today’s training?” Valoran questions.
“We are.” Sara responds with optimism.
“I’m glad to hear it, just as a warning I won’t be going easy.” Valoran warns.
Sara, Elly and Yuka eyes shoot open.
Professor Inaka enters the class hall and begins the lecture.
After a while the lecture finishes and Valoran heads with Yuka,Sara and Elly to the training ground area.
“Alright this is a good spot.” Valoran points out.
“Before I can begin training you I need to know what all of you are capable of.” Valoran states.
“Well…I’m only good at healing.” Elly says.
“I’m only good at enhancing my body with magic.” Yuka responds.
“As with me…I’m only good with water magic.” Sara adds on.
“I see. I would like to speak with you individually…Elly may I speak with you?” Valoran points out.
“Uhm…sure.” Elly with a shy voice agrees.
Valoran and Elly head to a different part of the training ground out of earshot from the others.
Valoran sits on the floor with Elly in a meditative posture.
“Elly. I can see that there is far more magic in you, asides from healing, throughout your whole life you doubted yourself and never got the chance to awaken your true potential. I want you to focus on nothing but your fragment and listen.” Valoran instructs.
Elly is stunned hearing that Valoran believes in her potential.
“How do I focus on my fragment?” She questions.
“I want you to close your eyes and clear your mind, take deep breaths at a fixed rate , with each breath you dive deeper and deeper until you can hear your fragment.” Valoran instructs.
Elly follows his instruction and closes her eyes and takes in deep breaths.
One deep breath in…and out… One deep breath in…and out… One deep breath in…and out… One deep breath in…and out… One deep breath in…and out… One deep breath in…and out… One deep breath in…and out… One deep breath in…and out…
After a little while she feels something.
“W-Wood, nature, it’s beautiful.” She mumbles.
In Front of her without realising, a little plant root begins to grow.
She slowly opens her eyes to see that root.
“Did I make this?” Elly asks with curiosity.
“You did.” Valoran confirms.
“What does that mean?” She questions.
“Elly. You are gifted in the form of nature magic. The ability to use nature as both protection and attack if needed.” Valoran tells her.
Elly is amazed that she can do this.
“If you keep improving your forest magic…then you will be able to accomplish great things.” Valoran says.
Elly has become speechless.
“I-I can accomplish great things?” She questions quietly to herself.
“Alright, please teach me forest magic.” She asks with determination and with the brightest smile possible.
Valoran grins a little. “Hope you can keep up with my teaching then.”
Valoran does the same process with Yuka and Sara.
It turns out that Yuka is gifted with lighting magic and Sara is gifted with earth elemental magic.
“All of you must remember that you are enrolled in an elite magic academy, you have been chosen to study here. It is true that your magic potential is not as high as others which means that you each can only specialise in one type of magic. That doesn’t mean you're weak, you can see it like this…you only need to focus on that magic you are gifted in. Yuka with lighting, Elly with nature and Sara with Earth magic.” Valoran explains.
“We will work very hard, Valoran.”Yuka says with determination.
“We sure will.” Sara adds on.
“We will do our best against Jillian.” Elly also adds on.
“That’s what I want to hear.” Valoran responds.

Grin the Cheat
There was a time when heroes roamed between the Four Great Cities. They fought for kingdoms and princesses and they lived and died by their valour. Or so the stories say. The way the minstrels sing it, everyone had a swashbuckling good time. Nowadays, buckles are rarely swashed. All the great beasts have been slain, all the great treasures unearthed. Princesses are few and far between — the ones worth fighting over, anyway — and the kingdoms have been divvied up between the sons of sons of sons of the heroes of old. No valour required. Frankly, the hero business is in a sorry state. Luckily for Grin the Cheat, thieving and murder are thriving as usual. If you have a moment, please vote for this story at Top Web Fiction.
